Executive Summary
This report is intended for demonstrating the business case scenario for Coffee vending machine
to understand the processes being executed when a user requests to dispense coffee. The
discussions are presented to determine the model of a Coffee vending machine and the role being
played by IT (Information Technology) for automating the process of dispensing coffee from the
machine. The implementation of IT will help to fulfill the information storage requirements of
the machine. A scenario model of a Coffee vending machine has been presented in this report to
demonstrate the information flow within the machine during the entire period starting from user
request to dispensing of coffee.

Identification of business and IT goals
This report illustrates the scenario model in context to the processes being followed by
Coffee vending machine. The focus is on increasing the efficiency of business processes that are
carried out while a user requests for coffee by inserting coins into a Coffee vending machine.
The setup of a Coffee vending machine will help to increase profitability for a business as well
as contributing additional income for business operations. There is a requirement to fix the errors
or bugs to minimize faults and improve the technical flaws that are existing in the Coffee
vending machine. The design of the Coffee vending machine has to be improved for suitable
management of coins or dollars that are being input into the system for dispensing of coffee.
Information Technology (IT) has an essential role to play in context to this business case
scenario of a Coffee vending machine. The automation of information flow and the storage of
information within the system will be completed with the help of information technology. IT is
required to process the storage of data or information being received or transmitted so that there
is proper interaction between users and the system. Hence, proper implementation of IT will help
to increase efficiency of the Coffee vending machine.
