INTRODUCTION
A business alignment process guides organisation regarding assessment of information
technology, acquisition and implementation. However, it is important that IT has become a
critical part for each and every department of the organisation and currently majority of the
businesses has high expectations towards investment in technology in order to reduce cost and
increase security by which productivity will get enhanced (Bryson, 2018). In this report,
explanation will be provided on importance of organisational strategies which needs to align in
business process architecture and for its subsequent ICT strategy. Further, study will also be
discussed on the difficulties which faced by organisation if such elements will not be align by the
organisation.
MAIN BODY
Explaining what it means for an organisation to align its organisational strategy with its business
process architecture and subsequently its ICT strategy
Strategic alignment is the type of method in order to understand the business nature which is
through correlation of business process and its strategies. With the use of strategic alignment
entity will able to achieve its long term vision and future goals. However, it is a fact that business
the known as the delivery of value regarding services and products to its customers. This is the
era where businesses have to create new and innovative strategies through which competition in
this business world will get faced (Levinthal, 2018). Therefore, strategic consideration is the
term which force organisation to break information system and to reduce their complexity with
the use of appropriate modular approach. Hence, the concept of business architecture is as
follows-
The term business architecture is the type of modelling approach which is mainly used by
the supplier or organisation like consultancy. This is the concept which mainly structure the
responsibility towards the business structure. Main role of business architecture is to arrange the
responsibility in order to improve the business activities and economic activities such as
production, distribution, marketing, transport, assembly etc (Tregear, 2015). That is why the
process of business architecture is becoming more popular where elements like organisational
goals, objective, generic and business models will get applied. In this method such strategic

elements are analysed and arranged with the techniques like qualitative cluster analysis and is
arranged in a hierarchical form.
However, strategic alignment model is consist of three terms that is enterprise
architecture, business processes analysis and ICT.
In order to define the business documenting organisational structure, BA will further
provide entities to identify and define the business functions and process with appropriate
strategic planning and so that vision and mission of will get achieved. Further, business process
analysis is the type of methodology where management of the entity will understand the process
so that effectiveness and efficiency in business process will get improved for business function.
In this methodology, analysis will get developed on process involved, participating parties and
information which gets exchanges with produced documents (Mendling and et.al., 2018). This
will help entity to analyse the areas which is problematic and because of which there has been
delay in moving goods from seller to buyer.
ICT planning is the another important factor which needs to be aligned by organisation in
its organisational strategy because it helps in properly aligns the technologies through which
business goals will get achieved and through this planning proper contribution will get developed
for achieving organisational objectives. This is the process which also enables system of ICT to
be fully integrated in each department by which wide management practises will get developed
in order to satisfy the needs of the consumers. Three pillars of the ICT involve demand, supply

and governance and this is the planning through which overall business objectives will get
achieved by developing balanced partnership between each pillar. Here, with this organisational
strategy, entity will able to decide type of services are required and functions which needs to
perform in order to drive the demand for information, processes and technology. Further,
analysis will get develop on types of services which needs to deliver with the use of ICT function
and when investment in services needs to made so that organisational objectives will get
achieved.
Thus, this is the importance of ICT strategy and business process architecture which
needs to be align by entities in their organisational strategies.
Explaining the importance for an organisation to align elements of strategies in its environment
In order to achieve the organisational objectives, it is important that entity must align the
strategies of business process management in its environment because it is known as discipline
tool of operation management because of which business process will get improved (Kasemsap,
2018.). There are six core points of such management because of which proper execution of
work will get developed for meeting future needs. Importance of assigning such elements are as
follows-
Design: through this element, management will able to identify the process of existing
products and will also help in developing design for to-be processes. This element generally
include the focus on areas like process flow, factors within it, notification, standard operating
procedures, agreement of service level and task hand over machines. Therefore, through this
element entity will able to develop correct and efficient new design.
Modelling: this is the step which generally takes and theoretical designs and will also
introduce the combinations of the variables by which business process will smoothly get develop
(Kaufhold and et.al., 2018). This is the step through which entity will able to analyse the
situation like what-if so that business process will not get affected under different circumstances
of the business.
Monitoring: this is the element by which proper tracking will get developed on the
individual process so that with clear statistics performance will get analysed and further more
improved way will get created for achieving business goals. Other than this, this element will
also get used for working with customers and suppliers by which improvement will get
developed on their connected processes.

Optimization: through this element, entity will include the process of retrieving in order
to generate the information regarding performance from the phase of modelling to monitoring.
This also helps in identifying actual bottlenecks through which potential opportunity will get
captured for saving process costs. This element also helps in developing other improvement so
that business value will get increases.
Re-engineering: this is the last element which used by entity when the process becomes
too complex or also gets inefficient where optimization process was also not providing the
desired output (Faghih and et.al., 2018). This is the phase when entity develop business process
re-engineering where another attempt has been created for achieving high efficiency and
productivity of the work.
These are the elements of business process management which needs to be align by
organisation so that effectiveness in operations and functions of business will get developed for
meeting the future goals. These are the elements by which entity will able to initiate the process
of business carefully in order to meet the expectations of the customers. This will also help in
achieving higher amount of profitability with effective business performance.
Components of ICT technology:
For each organisation, main starting point for the leader is to think that about
organisational strategy which needs to adopt for achieving vision and mission of the entity. It
means that such strategy will get developed with those decision which will helps in driving the
goals of business effectively. Strategy will always be associated with the change and such
change must have such capability to drive business success (Chuang and Huang, 2018).
Therefore, in order to achieve such growth information and communication technology is the
type of planning by which an entity will able to conduct smooth flow of business operations and
process. Information system is the planning which provides an answer of the question what was
needed and the ICT is the strategy which answer how can such be realised. It means it is process
to analyse how demand of information system get met with the use of technology. Therefore, its
importance for business environment is as follows-
 ICT planning will help businesses to align technology with business goals where proper
contribution has been provided to achieve the organisational objectives.

 Through this planning, it enables system of ICT to integrate in each department by which
management gets wide in the environment this business environment. With this process
needs of the consumers fully gets considered and satisfied.
 This is the strategy which guides planning and implementation of information and
technology initiatives so that proper contribution will get developed on the outcomes by
forcing areas and opportunities proposed by government.
Explaining difficulties which might be faced by organisation if it does not align elements of
organisational strategy
Information technology is continuing challenging entities regarding the way they are
operating in business market, organising their business processes, communicating with
customers and delivering the services. Nowadays, there is no such organisation is there which
will not using the strategies of information technology rather than this, entities are shifting closer
to the end-user so that knowledge based organisational strategies will get developed in order to
meet the future goals. Thus, an entity without alignment of organisational strategy will not be
able to establish with long term motive (Caputo and Evangelista, 2018). It is because of
globalisation which has brought a massive change in technological process in businesses. Among
all such development, information and communication technology is a tool which is providing
easy and necessary solutions to entity by which profitability gets enhanced. Without such
alignment entity will not able to:
 Measure, respond and control its operational processes.
 To apply the solutions of IT directly towards the business process.
 To develop improvement and coordination among the productivity of staff members.
 Provide and implement quick responses towards opportunities and challenges.
Without aligning such elements in business environment entity will not able their
business process more agile which is considered as most important process of conducting smooth
business operations (Benefits of BPM, 2013). BPM is the tool by which business process
becomes more agile where appropriate framework will get developed in each and every step of
business process. Through agility enterprises gets detailed knowledge which allow organisation
to understand the impact of changes by which modification profitability gets risen up.
Entities will also not able to use sophisticated software programs in order to develop the
process automate, which monitor the performance and also reveal the details regarding well

management of business operations. Without this entity will also not able to develop process
automation where process gets developed without requiring much of labour intensive and manual
monitoring techniques.
Without developing the elements of organisational strategies in business environment
entity will also not able to develop the efficiency in business process by which costs gets
increases and productivity gets decreases. Optimal performance will not get achieved which is
the most important tool for organisation in order to enhance productivity and for eliminating the
error of work in tasks (Harmon, 2019). For each organisation most important decision is to
achieve efficiency in business so that profitability gets rise but without such element proper
execution of work process will not get developed because it involves tracking and monitoring of
activities by which is any changes required in business function then such will get modified on
immediate basis. Therefore,it can be analysed that without having proper ICT strategies entities
will not able to kept safer and more secure data, not able to improve the activities of
collaboration, data sharing and decision making through which success will not get achieve in
this competitive environment.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that business process management in today's
business environment playing an important role in order to achieve the organisational objectives.
In this report, explanation has been provided on alignment of organisational strategies in the
context of business process architecture and ICT strategy where it is analysed that these are the
elements by which proper execution of business process will get developed for meeting the
future needs of organisation. Further, explanation is also provided on the importance of such
elements for business environment where it can be summarised that such process will help in
developing business process with elements of Design, Modelling, Monitoring, Optimizating and
Re-engineering.
