INTRODUCTION Personal development refers to those activities which include activities that helps to develop various capability in a person which enhance their potential and helps them to build human capital and provide employment opportunity and enhance quality of life(Baker, Jeanneret and Kelaher, 2017). It helps them to develop various capabilities and skills in a person which provide them positive attitude towards life. This project report includes description of personal and professional development. It also includes Short term, medium term and long term long and their values in life. This project includes construction of development plan of an individual. MAIN BODY 1. Definition of concept of personal and professional development Personal Development:Personal development is a future oriented process which helps in developing various skills as well as qualities. It also helps them to realise their potential ad attain their objective of life(Cook, Hayden, and Denitzio, 2016). It also includes various capabilities that develop capability and potential which enhance quality of their life. It also helps them to realise potential of life of person. Personal development helps individual to increase motivation as it empowers a person. It provides right through to person which helps them in attaining ultimate goals of life. Personal development also improves effectiveness of an individual and allow them to more focus on their work. It provides capability to a person which helps them to prioritise task and successfully complete that task. It empowers person to perform work effectively and helps them to develop positive attitude. It helps person to build relation with others which provide them opportunity in future as it helps them to build a network. Professionaldevelopment:Professionaldevelopmentincludeeducation,trainingand certification that assist a person in providing success to their career. There is different job available for a person which require different skills and capabilities(David, and Cobeanu, 2016). If a persona possesses skills in present situation, they may require some additional skills and capabilities in future. These skills and capabilities help an individual to learn new skills and lost helps them to become more efficient and better in terms of their skills and knowledge. For instance, job training is important for professional development of a employees and include all necessary education as well as learning that helps them to understand work of organisation. A person can get their professional development through college studies, industry certification, 1
training programs, mentoring as well as consultation. Professional development provides various benefit to an individual as it boosts their confidence level. It improves credibility of person whichhelpsthemworkeffectively.Professionalskillsincludemanagementskills, communication, cost management skills, conflict resolution skills, writing skills and many ore. It allows individual to effective planning their future and also provide varroas career opportunity to individual. 2. Description and discussion of short-term goals Short term goals are those which are simple and easily achievable, these can be attained within few months(Hsu, Lee, and Chen, 2017). It does not take mor than 12 months and helps to increase productivity of a person. It helps to motivate a person as it helps to attain their goals within less time. Short term goals provide base of long-term goals and helps individual to focus on their life. It helps to increase confidence of an individual and manage time effectively. As these goals can be attained within short period of time and helps them in measure progress of a person. These goals help to achieve small problem and provide solution of them. There are various short-term goals of a person which are as follows: ï‚·Improving communication skills:Communication refers to sharing information, idea, thought and feeling of a person with another. It helps in transmission of information and helps to provide various opportunity to a person. Communication skills is important skills for a person as it provides various employment opportunity to them. To improve their communication skills, person can join various institution. This goal can be achieved within 6 month and also helps in improved both oral and written communication. ï‚·Attending networking events:Networking events are those which helps in building network to a person. This network will help them in identification of various employment opportunity as tit work as reference for a job. It is important for a person to build network for growth of their career. So, to build network, they can attend many events organised in universities and other academic events. These provide them opportunity to meet new people and make network with them. ï‚·Management of funds:Management of funds is again a short-term goal for a business or a person. It also helps them to enhance their theoretical knowledge and improve their written abilities. In college there are various activities conducted which helps them improve their skills related to oral communication, written communication, leadership and many more. ï‚·Learning cost accounting skills:Student can also learn various new skills as per their academic skills. One of medium-term goal is learning cost accounting skills which helps them in attaining their long-term goals it identifies job in recognised enterprise. Cost accounting skills include identification of cost of any product and also in identification of total cost of organisation. It helps them to provide various employment opportunity as all business need to adopt cost accounting for purpose of identification of cost of their enterprise. ï‚·Build work experience:One of medium-term goal for a person is to build work experience for a person which helps to provide career growth in future period of time. It boosts growth in their career as they have experience of working in any enterprise. Companies are likely to hire a person who has work experience in heir field as it saves their efforts to provide them training. 4. Description and discussion of long-term goals Long term goals are those which a person want to attain in future period of time. To attain these goals proper planning and time is required by a person(Miao, 2016). These goals are important for a person for successful career. There are various benefits of setting long term planning as it provide vision to a person in which they put their efforts. Some of example of long term are as follows: Finding job:One of long-term goals for any student’s life is to identify suitable job as it helps them to build their career. It is important for any person to have a job as it provides them financial stability and allow them to be independent. To find a job, a person needs to develop various skills and capabilities in themselves. It helps them to lean something new and also provide career growth to them. It is ultimate goal of one’s life to earn money to meet their requirement and expectation. Developing leadership skills:Leadership skills is one of those skills which helps a person in Maintain career life. Through leadership a person can influence others to work in order to attain group goals. A person can develop leadership skills in long period of time as it takes time to develop leadership skills. These can be developed by taking various responsibilities and initiative in various activities and work. These skills can be developed by taking initiative in assignment and activities conduced in school ad college life of a student. Maintain Career life:Maintaining career life is another long-term goal of a person as it provides them opportunity in better career growth in life. A person needs career growth in their life time as it enhances their skills and capabilities. It also increases their experience which helps them to take additional work responsibilities. This increase productivity of a person and increase their vault in organisation. 5.
