INTRODUCTION
Personal development is one of development which improve skills of a person with life
experience and take in life long process (Johnson, Kerr and Side, 2016). It helps to build
confidence and credibility of a person in life. These development helps to build various skills in
a person includes time management skills, leadership skills, problem solving skills,
communication skills and many more. This project report includes discussion of personal and
professional development along with their important for a person. It analyse short term, medium
term and long term goals and their values to a person along with personal life example.
Moreover, it also discusses about personal development plan and its example.

Personal development
Personal development is one of development which take place in life long process and
helps a person to assess their goals of life and also up skills which are required to fulfil potential
(King and Ayoo, 2020). This personal development helps a person to be proactive and also make
them capable to take charge of action in their life. A person is not always success in reaching to
their objectives but it leads them towards fulfilling life as their purpose are defined. Personal
development results in success and satisfaction in life of a person.
Personal development can be attained by a person with improvement in their skills. These
qualities, skills and trait of a person can be gained with education training and development.
Skill to be includes in category of personal development includes communication skills,
Problems solving sills,, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, adaptability skills. Personal
development is important for a person who are working harder in attaining of their goals.
Improvement is important for every person even successful people also strive for improvement
in their skills and knowledge. Some of reason for which personal development is important are
as follows:
Provide clear vision: Personal development provide clarity of vision to a person and
allow a person to define their goals of life clearly. Identification of target to be attained in life
make it easier for a person to develop place in life and also putting efforts in attainment of these
objectives.

Professional development is one of development which take place with continue
education, training and development, certification after joining any organisation and helps a
person to develop new skills, make a persona up to date as per current employment trends and
also in making a person advance in their career (Fawaz, 2017). There are various field for which
a person needs to participate in ongoing learning, continue education. These skills are require by
a person to development their career and also for getting carer advancement opportunity in life of
a person. Personal development is important in life of a person as it provide them various
benefits and also helps them to engage them in organisation effectively for development of
various opportunity. Some of reason for which professional development is important in life of a
individual are as follows:
Expands knowledge: Professional development includes continue education and training
for development of a person which allow a person to develop new ideas, utilise their knowledge
and also enhance their expertise in particular field. It is important for a person to get opportunity
by continuous learning by helps to enhance knowledge of a person.
Boost confidence and credibility: With enhance in professional expertise in a person
with professional development, confidence of a person nan also be increased. It also improve
knowledge, expertise and skills of a person which improve their creditability in organisation.
Discussion of Values of short term goals along with personal example
Short term goals are those goals which has connection with present position of a person
now and their vision related to future position (Driver and Tocher, 2019). Short term goals does
not take much time to be attained as it can be attained within few months and weeks. Short term
goals helps to boost confidence and capability of a person as it can be attain in less time with less
efforts and provide continuous progress to a person towards attainment of their dreams and
desire in future. These shorter term goals also helps to increase focus of of person and minimise
distraction of a person. These goals are values for a person due to various reason which are
mentioned below:

Greater Focus: Short term goals are those goals which provide clear focus as well as
direction to a person. With these goals a person can get to know about what they wants to attain
and when to attain. It also provide clarity to an individual about what factors motivate them and
increase their productivity.
Increase confidence: Short term goals are those goals which can be attained within less
time with less efforts which boost confidence of a person (Dredge and Jenkins, 2016). It provide
provide clear, specific and measurable outcome to a person which is important in order to boost
confidence of a person.
Some of example of personal short term goals of person are as follows:
Improving written and oral communication is one of short term goals which allow a
person to share their views, ideas and opinions to other person.
Improvement of time management skills is another short term goals which helps to
manage time effectively in order to save it.
Waking up early is also one of short term goals as it helps a person to wake up early
which saves their time and allow it to invest on productive work and also contribute to
make balance in life.

2018). Medium term goals are extension for short term goals. Medium term goals are values

Provide base for long term goals: Medium term goals are important for a person as it
develop foundation for attainment of long term goals of a person. These goals allow a person to
develop sufficient skills and knowledge in order to complete long term goals of a person.
Provide consistent efforts: Medium term goals are those goals which allow a person to
put consistent efforts for attainment of their goals. It allow a person to build skills and also
knowledge which helps them to attain what they wants in attain in their life.

Completion of graduation is one medium term goals which is important in order to get
various employment opportunity for a person.

Long term goals are those goals which belong to future and are important for a person in
developing successful career (Bolger and Doyon, 2019). Long term goals are those which require
proper planning and time to attain. These goals cannot be attain within some months or weeks
instead it takes year. For attainment of long term goals, a person needs to take various steps and
fist steps for this is to attain short term goals. Long term goals are related to career development
of a person ad career is related to working life. Long term are valuable for an individual for
various reason and these reason are mentioned below:
Clarity: Long term goals are those goals which provide clarity in life of a person. For
attainment of long term goals, a person require exceptional motivation along with transparent
pathway in future period of time. Development of long term goals provide roadmap to a person
as where they want to go.
Focus: Long term goals provide clarity to a person which helps them in focusing on their
objectives and targets. This allow a person to focus on their objectives and allow them to develop
various skills required to attain long term goals of their life.
Empowerment: Long term goals helps a person to empower their skills and knowledge
as it provide clarity where a person want to go in future period of time. It allow them to made
decision of how to reach their and also prepare them mentally to reach to their future destination.
