Various sources of Information referred to workplace digital applications:
There are various sources which include government websites for analysing and collecting the
relevant information required by the organisation, conducting an internal audit and generating
a report at regular intervals of time conducting various market surveys that are referred for the
purpose of implementation and creation of the digital information (White, 2012). Some other
sources include relevant websites and books and also the authentic electronic databases that
contain the information that could be reliable for certain operations of the company.
Knowledge gained from workplace digital applications:
Access devices are used for automatic data capture through electronic serial number on the
articles to be shipped, identification cards for the employees, barcode on the goods and
identification cards, wireless handheld scanners, vehicle mount scanners, mobile barcode
printers, mobile scanning by the customers, head-mounted displays and ring scanner for the
employees to increase work productivity (Ansari and Cowgill, 2011).
Communications such as digital communication are used for telephony and text messaging.
Emails are used for acknowledging and transmitting important information across the
workplace and among the organisation and the customers that are availing the services

Infrastructure that includes warehousing storage, commercial storage, container roll out
warehousing systems (CROWS), infrastructure for container unloading and for supply chain
management where employees work for accomplishing different supply chain processes
Business applications used are mobile and computer-based applications for supply chain
professionals for tracking inventory and shipments, executing transactions and for reordering
purposes. Also, applications for the customers to track their packages from dispatch till delivery
(Färber, et al. 2012).

The data repository is a destination for storage of data. Different types of data are put together
which are separated by different databases or containers also commonly called as data
warehousing. An architecture known as Web Semantics is used for describing, publishing,
discovering and accessing sources that contain the typed data (Giordano, et al. 2011). It has a
query language that helps to discover relevant published sources of data.

It has four layers-
Data source layer- has 2 components namely the data sources and wrappers
World Wide Web layer utilised as a medium for publishing and describing the sources of

Catalog layer is responsible for storing metadata
Query processing layer gives the user access to the collection of sources that are
registered in the Catalog.

This type of information is stored as a series of 1’s and 0’s. This computation is also known as
the binary system which can be defined as the discrete and discontinues information
representation. The digital information can be used in a number of ways out of which some are-
Data based automation in areas like automated load building that enables the minimum
use of available resources and facilitating lean operations
Real-time fleet management systems with the help of mobile solutions
Analytical data for checking the carbon emissions
Tracking of goods by the customers and the logistics professionals facilitating an end to
end transparency of the inventory to the employees
Database management systems software solutions to manage the database repositories
of the company and simplify the database management process
Ways to check digital information for validity and reliability:
There are many ways to check whether the data available to the company is reliable and valid
or not in which data analysis tools can be used, checking the data against other sources and use
of unit testing for checking the reliability and validity of the code for collection, retrieval and
creation of digital information (Papakonstantinou, et al. 2010). The various types of error
checking and approximation methods and tools can be used and also examine whether the data
is obtained is from ethical and relevant sources or not. The relevancy of the data for example of
the employees can be cross-checked from the government records of the residents and
immigrants. Other digital information related to the transactions of data and necessary
information of the goods to be transported by the logistics firm can be checked with the help of
various analysis tools.
Ways to create a store and retrieve information:
In the digital aspects for dealing with the data and confidential information, there are a number
of ways which include the use of online storage such as cloud and offline storage such as on
nearline storage system or the removable storage that include magnetic tapes and USB drives.

these database management systems, the information can be easily stored, created and

Use of client management systems or CMS which are the databases itself for the
purpose of storage, retrieval, collating and reporting the service delivery information
and the client information
Using the concept of data warehousing or data repositories to store large amounts of
data in different databases so that their retrieval is easy and does not cause any
confusion between the large number of databases (Starkey, 2012)
Use of cloud computing that includes the storage of information on the cloud that does
not acquire space on hard drives but sores all the information on the cloud itself
Ways to integrate suitable innovations:
For the purpose of integration of the relevant innovations in the company like Nirvana, there
are various ways or approaches through which the innovations can be integrated successfully
with the business objectives for implementation of methods for effective utilisation of digital
information such as
Holistic approach that includes innovation in the overall processes for digitisation of
information and various operations that take a longer time to be carried out by
conventional means (Colbert, et al. 2016)
Establishment of strong channels of communication will help in carrying out cross-
fertilisation of the innovative ideas which will create a cycle of innovation
Developing a culture of innovation where the employees of the firm are ready to take
risks by adopting innovative practices. This will encourage the employees to present
their ideas and implement the same on approval by the team members of the
innovation team
Innovation prototyping such as the development of a prototype of digital information
systems to test the consistency and accuracy of the system being developed
