INTRODUCTION
Personal development is defined as continuous process of developing skills and qualities
to attain objectives of life in successful manner. Academic skills plays a vital role in personal
development of an individual as it helps to set goals, awareness and development of skills in
individuals. It also includes improvement of knowledge for which it is advisable to refer sources
published by various authors. Before relying on any source it is essential to check its reliability,
relevance and purpose. This report contains an evaluation of goals of an individual which
requires to refers various sources. In order to refer this sources it is essential to check its purpose
reliability and relevance which is also discussed in this report.
TASK 1
Idea of Personal and professional development
Professional as well as personal development of any individual is a life long activity which helps
them to involve in learning to develop their skills required for attainment of goal. By assessing
their skills which are already present in an individual they can plan for improvement of their
knowledge and skills to achieve desired goals. For this purpose they can use coaching, learn
communication skills, time management skills, behavioural skills etc. which also consider
evaluation of habits and hobbies of respective person (Datu, 2018).
Value of Short-term Goals
Short term goals are very essential for any individual as it helps to set standards for medium term
and long term goals. Every individual must have their short term goals as it includes
enhancement of basic qualities or skills which help them to accomplish broad goals of their life.
There can be several types of goals which an individual can achieve in short period of time.
Skills an individual can attain in short period of time is to learn management of time and be
organised for their time schedule. They can also focus on improving their writing skills, it skills
and listening skills in short period of time. They can improve their thinking power and think
positive to stay focus in their life (Dumay, 2017).

Medium term goals are that goals which needs to be fulfilled between 6 to 10 months by an
