INTRODUCTION
Personal development refers to identify the ability and knowledge of people to determine
the goals which increase confidence and quality of life. It helps to improve self-awareness and
the development of skills. On the other hand professional development is defined to develop
employees skills to succeed in future to achieve the success in business. The benefit of personal
and professional development is to get job opportunities, build confidence and improve
efficiency. This report covers concept of personal and professional development with short term,
medium and long term goals.
TASK 1
Define the concept of personal and professional development.
Personal development is a long lasting process which generate interpersonal skills,
problem solving skills and adaptability skills to enhance performance of people. Importance of
this development is to create clear vision to target personal goals which build satisfaction and
confidence. Professional development refers to instruction and training to grow its career and
helps to boost skills that assist growth in business.
Value of short-term goals
Short term goals is essential to accomplish their objectives within short period. The time
period of short term goals is 12 months or less to achieve outcome which helps people to create
effective plans for short run. It focuses on productivity to execute their target for short period.
For example, attend networking events, prepare daily journal and management of funds.
Value of medium term goals.
Medium term goals are used to plan objectives to achieve by employees in organisation.
The time period of this goal is more than 12 months to manage and perform activities. Examples
of medium term personal goals are graduate from college, pay the loans and build work
experience.
Value of long term goals.
Long term goals defined to achieve objectives for long time which helps them to attain
success and growth that increase performance. For example become a leader of team, degree of
professional and maintain career life.
