INTRODUCTION
Personal development plans are defined as the process of creating an action plan based on
values, interventions, perceptions, goals, and personal development plans in relation to
education, career and personal development. The overview of this report details the concepts of
personal and professional development, the importance of short, medium and long term goals,
and the benefits of personal development planning. It also includes an overview of the sources
used in the design of the report, as well as a discussion of how the source's author, purpose,
credibility, and relevance affect the use of the source.
TASK 1
1. Personal and professional development
Professional development is described as a learning process in which a person or
organisation engages in order to overcome obstacles and achieve desired outcomes. It has to do
with a person's or a group's developmental needs. The main goal of personal and professional
development is to help people manage their own learning and advancement throughout their
careers. It is critical for an individual to continue to learn and improve in order to maintain their
knowledge and skills up to date and function efficiently.
2. Short-term goals
Short term goals are referred as small objectives which an individual set for themselves with
the main purpose of accomplishing long term career goals. These goals minimize procrastination,
and lay down clearly defined path to the success. It also enables and individual to emphasize on
one thing at a single time and help in improving the productivity of individual. Short term goals
also make the individual able to accomplish long-term goals easily and quickly. My personal
short term goals are as follows:
1. To earn a new degree or certificate in my area of interest.
2. To improve my communication skills.
3. To improve my performance and team working skills.
3. Medium-term goals
Medium term goals are referred as the goals which are set to be accomplished somewhere
between short term goals and long term goals of an individual. These goals help an individual to
