INTRODUCTION
Academic Skills play a significant role in life of a student. An individual should work on
the skills and formulae personal and professional development plan that helps to develop the
skills (Mason and et.al., 2017). Afterwards short term, medium term and long term goals are
discussed in this report. In the end the sources that are being used in the report.
MAIN BODY
TASK 1
Personal and professional development
PDP is a process that helps the individual to get engaged in the learning process. There
are several challenges that are part of learning process. It helps to meet the desired goals in an
effective manner. It emphasises on developing career of the individual. It helps to check the
performance of individuals and improvise the areas that are weak (Hildebrand, 2018). It is
important for an individual to focus on personal and professional development as it helps to
choose right career and achieve it successfully. It is important to set goals and objectives then
make efforts to achieve them with the set of actions. It helps in self-growth of the person so that
the desired tasks are achieved on time.
Value of short term goals and 3 personal examples
These are the goals that are set by an individual. They are generally necessary to achieve
the medium term goals. They are set for 1 year time period. These goals show what a person
wants to achieve in near future (Demir, 2017). These goals help to stay motivated and work with
confidence. My short term goals are as follows:
 I want to enhance my confidence level.
 I want to complete the work on time
 I need to enhance my focus on the things that I do.
Value of medium term goals and 3 personal examples
Medium term goals are set for a time duration longer that short term goals. They last 2 to
5 years and have enough time to fulfilled them. These are supporting goals for long term goals.
The individual is able to enhance their skills and overcome the weakness that they are facing
(Sonderegger Bane and Graff, 2017). The person has enough time to work on the goals and

actively achieve them. It is necessary for a person to be dedicated and work on regular basis in
order to achieve the medium term goals. My medium term goals are as follows:
 I want to become Assistant Human Resource Manager
 I want to become a good communicator
 I want to complete my management degree with good grades
Value of long term goals identifying at least 3 personal examples
Long term goals are for longer duration of time say for more than 5 years. Also the
continue for longer duration of time. They are important part of life of an individual. Each and
every person has to achieve something in life and that they can do with the help of long term
goals (Lin and Schmid, 2018). It is necessary to have clear so that they are able to become
successful in life.
 I want to become Human Resource Manager in reputed firm.
 I want to be creative and take the business organization to heights
 I want to gain management experience
Construct a Personal Development Plan
Personal development plan is a document that includes skills that an individual must have
to be successful. The importance of those skills and the actions that will help to develop those
skills. It assist in person to become effective by working on the skills that need improvement.
There are areas that need improvement and that helps to grab opportunities and overcome the
threats (Rubens and et.al., 2018). All the goals need actions and this plan helps to take the
actions and achieve success.
TASK 2
Describe and discuss how ‘Author, Purpose, Reliability and Relevance’ affect the use of a
source.
It is important to note that Author of source plays a vital role in checking the information.
The Author is one who publishes the data and information. It is necessary to check the
educational background, occupation and experience of the author before using the source for
gathering information. It is also important to check the purpose of research and check that the
article, journal is based on the same. The purpose of the research must match the purpose of out

study. The data that is used be reliable and used in an effective manner. It is necessary to use
reliable information as it helps to gain meaningful conclusion. In the end it is important to use
relevance of the information. As the topic of study must provide good solutions. There are
variety of sources and choosing right source is important. It helps to make study better and drice
effective conclusion from the same.
