Introduction
The project reflects on “Refurbishing Heathrow Airport Terminal 1”, which is one of the
largest international airports in the world. The main aim of the project is to complete
refurbishment of Heathrow airport terminal 1 on proper time and budget, without creating
disruptions to the public who are travelling. It is identified that the Terminal 1 of Heathrow
Airport is 40 years old and it was only utilized for short-distance European flights. Therefore, it
is analyzed that the Terminal 1 of the Heathrow Airport needs refurbishment in order to resolve
issues that mainly occur due to its outdated infrastructure. In the year 2004, BAA airport was
mainly tasked with the refurbishment of Terminal 1 of the Heathrow Airport. During
refurbishment of the airport, the terminal was kept opened to 20 million annual travelers. It is
identified that the project team needs to resolve number of challenges as well as unexpected
problems that mainly occurs during refurbishment.

It is identified that terminal 1 of Heathrow Airport needs refurbishment as the terminal is
40 years old and its infrastructure is outdated. BAA Airport Ltd. was mainly tasked with the
refurbishment in order to update the infrastructure of the terminal. As the project manager wants
to complete the entire project on proper time and budget without creating disruption for the
people who are travelling therefore the terminal was kept opened to 20 million annual travelers.
It is identified that the successful completion of this project is considered as an enabler in order
