Mining Industry at Tasmania - Report_2
INTRODUCTIONWithin the organization, there are different type role and responsibilities that has to beplayed by them in order to achieve the goals and objectives. It is importance for the managementto make sure that they performance the given take by workers effectively and efficiently (Pang,Zheng and Chen, 2015 ). Further, it is essential for the management to deliver their employeeswith healthy environment in which they will be perform their roles. Present report is aboutmining industry at Tasmania. It was in the year 1834 when first successful mine was developedin South Est of island at Plunkett. There are different type of health related issues that are beingfaced by employees working at mining. In order to overcome this issues Mobile Medical HealthScreening System (MMHSS ) is being established that will enable to reduce the risk that arefaced by workers. In mining firms, there are different set of operations that are developed andthese are helpful to consider the goals that are set by the firm. Risk that are involved in this areaccidents, gas explosions, dust, noise, etc. This report covers, identification of system boundaryon the context diagrams and then describing it in functional and physical terms. Further , inincludes identification at least five significant system-level trade studies associated with project.Lastly, it also includes providing details for 5 functional requirements.5. Draw system-level context diagrams for the operational view. Identify the system boundary on the context diagrams and then describe it in functional and physical termsThis is in considering the given case study of Mining Tasmania that is concerned abouttheir health and safety measures at the workplace which are not reflecting an adequate approachof the associated stakeholders in the organisation. Due to which, some severe accidents aretaking place on regular basis and is harming the workers to a great extent (Chadwick, 2013). Forthis purpose, a prompt need of Mobile Medical Health Screening System (MMHSS) has beenidentified that will consider ensuring a secured work system for the deputed employees inMining Tasmania. Herein, the elements of operational view has been undertaken to create asystem level context diagram with further scrutinization of each of the referred elements. Thishas been undertaken for the well being of the mining workers where they are often required toface terrible accidents either because of their own faulty measures or due to some faultyoccurrence in the machineries they are using. It is therefore referred to be a prime responsibility of the stakeholders associated with thecited firm to take some considerable measures for the benefit of their designated workers. It is1

therefore with the help of a designed MMHSS, the organisation can hereby refer to provide amini health screen to their on site workers in the mines that will also not disrupt into their day today working practices (Expósito, Gomez-Exposito, Conejo and Canizares, 2016). It is basicallydue to the fact where mining involves several petite checks that are required to be done for acomfortable working of the employees on the site. Also, underground working is specified to beyet another prompt need in the field of mining where many workers associated with some sort ofhealth related issues faces several challenges to adjust into the environment of their subsurfacesites. It is thus important for the associated bodies of the mines to always be conscious aboutthe occurrences taking place in the sites to avoid any chance of mishap. For a similar purpose, this section has discoursed upon the proposal of MMHSS in Mining Tasmania. It has been donewith the help of a system level system diagram to demonstrate the involved set of elements in it(Hatley and Pirbhai, 2013). This mainly refers to both external and internal stakeholders of thequoted entity where they will be directly responsible for a successful operation of the proposedsystem of MMHSS. In context to which, some prompt elements that have been found from theoperational point of view that involved gate-checker, workers employed for on site work, sitemanager, central controlling authority, rescue workers as internal organisational bodies will playa major role. However, the designed MMHSS will together involve some external parties such asmedical practitioners and hospital authorities in the mobile van to provide instant medicalassistance to the victims like provisioning first aid, etc. After which, the rescue workers will alsohelp the injured persons to reach hospital on time for further treatments, if required (Lubega andFarid, 2014). It is however on discoursing upon the mobile clinic, it will represent a seating of 25purpose built in structure of Mobile clinic to altogether assist the victims with an estimated ratioof 25. It will be together supplemented by a substructure of authorized medical centres where allservices will be provisioned in accordance to the clinical standards that are applicable in thechosen area of Tasmania. Also, the outcomes will be overviewed by a Consultant OccupationalDoctor.Apart from this, a firm medico judicial standard will be developed after principallyguiding the contending results obtained from assessing the risks at the workplace that willtogether consider the lawful obligations of the organisational bodies. It is basically to abide by2

the health and safety policies for the security of the workers deputed in the organisation (Prnoand Slocombe, 2014). This shows a vital presence of the governmental bodies in MiningTasmania where they have framed several rules and regulations applicable on the organisationsworking in Mining industry. Adhering to these norms are of utmost importance where all thesemeasures will largely support in the future in case there occur any event of claim done againstthe enterprise to allege them for poor health related problems in the mines. This is for instance to specify about some common issues involving noise that in turn isapparent to creating hearing related issues on both temporary or permanent basis. It is where theindividuals can hereby loss their hearing power either temporarily or forever on lasting basis thatwill be further detected and diagnosed by the service providers appointed in MMHSS (Buedeand Miller, 2016). Other than this, other health related issue that can take place in the chosenorganisation is Hand/ Arm Vibration symptom also known as HAVS and was previously calledvibration white finger. Additionally, the proposed programme of MMHSS can also go on thefarther side of the above specified requirements to review the general lifestyle of the delegatedworkers. It is however with a special context of those who are responsible to work in the on- sitearea of mines and are often required to go underground. It is thereby referred to provide tailored services as per the need and demand of theorganisational bodies with a prior involvement of the associated stakeholders as indicated in thestructured context diagram reflecting the proposed system level context diagram of MMHSS. Ithas been drawn from an functional point of view and has defined the operational measures of theaforementioned system-level context diagram (Dickerson and Mavris, 2016). It has specificallyoutlined the involved set of bodies responsible for a feasible working of MMHSS at the on-siteworkplace of Mining Tasmania ans is designed to provision customized health related services tothe workers as and when specified by the administrative bodies included in the projected design. In context to which, it may together refer to early detection of illness in the workers beforesending them to operate in the on site locations of mining by together providing relevant adviceson it.Moreover, health related education will also be provisioned to the workers responsible towork on the on site mining locations on weekly or monthly basis, as prescribed. It is howeverwith a chief motive of referring to a strengthened workforce with improved health. Furthermore, the projected design of MMHSS is together intended to provide long term benefits to the3

establishment in terms of managing the illness of their employees and their absence due to same(Friedenthal, Moore and Steiner, 2014). Lastly, this system will also support in the maintenanceof civil litigation by together extending to the provisioning of Alcohol and Drug tests at theworkplace. The senior level workers will be also aided with a Personal Track Safety (PTS)system to assuringly record the verifications of their subordinates reporting to them by togethermaintaining their own. Lastly, varying medical check-ups will be offered to the company withthe help of a screening programme for assessing their various workplace related risks.Below is the designed system context diagram considering the operational view ofMMHSS with its leading elements and a detailed explanation of each-A system level context diagram is referred to provide a high level functional view of aprocess reflecting either an existing system or a proposed design to carry out the procedure.
