Introduction
‘My Health Record’ an initiative taken by the Commonwealth Government of Australia is a
project that has secured the information of the individuals over a secured online system. It
enables the patients to get an electronic summary of their health records ready with them. The
project is now looking up for cloud-based solutions for its proper execution considering the
security of its information. This report discusses the viability of the implementation of these
solutions through the discussion of the vendor-selection, the analysis of the characteristics of the
cloud-based solutions and the critical discussion of the SDLC approaches for selecting one of
them.

Vendor Solution
For selecting the solution from the vendors for the cloud-based solution of ‘My Health Record’,
the requirements of the project need to be checked upon which could be done by building up the
models on the basis of the various models suited with the project’s functionalities. It is used to
effectively convey the objectives of the project as well as helps in approximating the desires a
user is having from the system. The vendor solutions that could be made use of for the project
are enlisted as below:
1. Cloud-solution providers: These are the service providers that provide to client the
solutions based on their requirements. These service providers provide the services in the
form of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS environments to their clients. The features of these solutions
are:
a. Any solution from a number of cloud-environments (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS) could
be provided to the client depending on their requirements.
b. The project gains reliability due to the implementation of the cloud-solutions.
c. A flexible environment is provided to the clients for smoothness of their
operations with the ‘My Health Record’.
d. The data security is also achieved through this over the cloud servers, as the
project is made to house the records of a mass number of people, so it is necessary
to secure its data.
e. Customers get the licensed service from the service providers, so are able to
reclaim back for their lost data.
f. The remote service offered to the users by this project is over-the-top service that
they require to be able to access the cloud-services from anywhere (Kundra,
2011).
2. Medical-service providers: ‘My Health Record’ is a medical project involving the online
monitoring of the health records of all the patients, hence it should be appropriate to get
some solution or some help from the medical service providers too to be able to better
manage the medical perspective of the cloud-solution. The features of these solutions are:
a. Patient is able to get medical services on-the-go.

b. The treatment offered to the patients could be validated according to their medical
history.
c. The medical history of the patients could easily be studied through and the queries
are responded through very effectively.
d. In-budget services could be made available to the patients.
e. The project also provides a boost to the medical economy of the nation.
f. The physical fitness of the people could be made better all over the nation and
massive awareness could be made (Sultan, 2014).
3. Communitywide data exchange: The exchange of data across the community would help
the physicians all over the nation to be able to check the patient’s historical data of a
particular patient before making the prescription for the patient. The features of this
solution are:
a. Medical history that patient could not remember may not get overlooked.
b. A proper clinical treatment could be imparted based on the medical history on the
‘My Health Record’ application.
c. Patients would be able to check with the best practitioner for their remedies.
d. The sharing of data among all the physicians would ensure the saving of efforts
against the duplicate entries for uploading the data to the system.
e. This would also reduce the paper-work done under some sites.
f. In case a patient forgets to tell the past history or forgets the details, correct details
may be transferred to the physicians by the use of this system (Miller and Sim,
2004).

Review of cloud-based solution
Nowadays, Cloud based solutions are spreading like a fragrance everywhere. Cloud-based
solutions fulfill all the requirements in today’s world for all the virtual departments. We use this
solution for developing the software & applications. Cloud-based solution has the ability &
capacity to fulfill requirements of all the software industries, IT sectors etc.
Mainly there is approximately three services provider in cloud based solutions. & these are as
below: Software as a service, Platform as a service, and infrastructure as a service. For choosing
the best cloud service provider we will have to discuss all the three cloud based service
providers. So we can get best out of these three & can pay attention to all the patients (Sullivan,
2014).

Types of services:
1. Platform as a Service:
As its name implies platform as a service is a service which is used for the development of the
software platform. We make a platform like where different kinds of application can work

simultaneously with reliability & flexibility. So mainly this service is provided cloud services to
makes a better platform.
Examples of PaaS are written below: Windows Azure, Apache Stratos, AWS Elastic Beanstalk.
2. Infrastructure as a Service:
Infrastructure as a service is the most efficient cloud service providers, because of its high-level
services. Moreover, we don’t need to purchase or charge for using these cloud services by this
provider. & only virtual servers have to pay sometimes because they have no limits for data
usage.
Examples are as follows: AWS, Google Compute Engine, Cisco Metapod
3. Software as a Service:
Software as a service mainly provides the cloud based services to fulfill the requirements of an
organization & institute. In software as service, you will have to pay because of its high security.
It requires the direct communication, so it is a quite transparent cloud-based service provider.
Examples are: Google Apps, Cisco WebEx, Salesforce
We have discussed all the three cloud-based service providers, & finally, we get to know that
infrastructure as a service will be the best cloud service provider for our ‘My Health Record’.
Because it is providing high security & easiest communication. Moreover, there are no charges
we need to pay. This solution will help to manage the healthcare services and data of the
customers as well with efficiency (Colman, 2013).
We should include the strength & weakness of selected cloud-based service provider.
The strength of the selected cloud solution
The strength of infrastructure as a service
provides flexibility.
Charge of installation is very low.

provides accurate data.
After analyzing all the strengths, it is clear that there is very less hardware deployment in the
‘My Health Record’ and it will definitely save time and money which could then be used for
another services.
The weakness of the IaaS:
All the weaknesses of IaaS are written below
Professional knowledge is a must.
Regular updates are here. So sometimes it is time-consuming.
Physical structure is difficult.
The support system should respond quickly.
Internet speed should be high (Stevens,2018).
Security and privacy requirements for ‘My Health Record’ project:
There should be all clear but mainly we are looking for security liabilities. Because this is very
big project & there should be no chances of data leakage or any kind of issues.
& the security requirements are as follows:
All the tasks should be divided into different vendors
Tasks divination cause less possibility of errors.
There should data completely encrypted.

Encryption usage for the personal information of the My Health Record project’s users.
Sign in & login options should be there so that we can get personal information secure.
Agreements bound by contracts to support the legal aspects of the project.
Backups & snaps or recovery system should be strong.
Security enhancement against the DoS attacks.

SDLC Approach
SDLC approach is used to design the system with a proper manner. With the help of SDLC, I
have designed “MY health Record” on the cloud-based solution and estimate project
performance. It follows the structure of processes or activities to implementation “MY health
Record” project with the successful with preferred outcomes of the project. It manages the
project scalability and reliability because SDLC approach use managed relevant approach to
design the system during the system development. Here I will be explained two approach for the
My Health Record’ project that may be used for fulfilled the system requirements.

1. ‘Predictive’ SDLC
Predictive’ SDLC approach make plan for the project according to project requirements. It is an
initial phase of the project which need for the project development. It is based on waterfall
model. It is also known as linear sequential model which processed single steps at time. It gives

Pros:
Here I have explained the advantage of Predictive’ SDLC that may be useful for My health
Record such as
It provides the advanced level privacy and security.
It is easily understanding and implementing in the project.
Implementation processes are more accurate compare.
It supports extensive and upfront approach to project planning
Cons
Here, I have explained the disadvantage of the Predictive’ SDLC such as
It contains compactness that creates issue during the project development.
It is less flexible.
There is not possible the Modification after the start of the project.
It contains Phase dependency so there is much risk.
It needs more effort, time, and cost: (Yang, 2014).

2. ‘Adaptive’ SDLC
It works on the iterative approach that works on multiple phases at a time. It contains high-level
flexibility. Adaptive’ SDLC work on the issue of the predict SDLC. It designed the system
according to user and system requirement. It supports development time user demand. It gives
user facility to change the scope of the project. It is a type of Agile Model. Adaptive’ SDLC
support the service-oriented approach that helps to achieve the organization requirement because
it contains number service that is useful for the MY health record Project.
Pros:
Here I have explained the advantage of ‘Adaptive’ SDLC that may be useful for My health
Record such as
It is an effective approach for the project development because it is increased the project
implementation process.
It is maintained testing of the software to get the feedback.
It is allowed modifications and improvements in the project after the project planning
phase.
It collected user and system requirement for the better communication.
Cons:
Here, I have explained the disadvantage of the ‘Adaptive’ SDLC such as
It does not contain a structure and not final outcomes.
It needs active participant because Adaptive’ SDLC work on intensive collaboration
approach.
The client continues to give the improvements during the project development.
The developer is not known about the finals result.
It contains high risk.
It is a time-consuming process: (Yang, 2014).
