Task 1
1.1 Key historical developments in the travel and tourism sector
Inbound Tour Operator-: They are
locally based tour operators and they work
for promotion of local destination to the
interested travellers. They are mostly the
business owners and leaders of industry of
that region and they all work together for
promotion of destination. In simple words it
can be said as they are most important
channels that are available for small city
tours for the travellers (Marchoo, Butcher
and Watkins, 2014). The following are the
current and recent trends for the inbound tour
operators-:
Outbound Tour Operators-: These
type of Operators take travellers of one
country for travelling in the another country.
The outbound tour operators take tourists to
all over the world and even to different
continents. Organisations which provide
local assistance to these types
of tourists arriving in their city are called
Inbound or Receptive Tour Operators (Nagle
and Müller, 2017). In simple words it is said
as visitors visiting outside there country or
territory with these type of operators.
UK Outbound Tour Operators-:
These are the tour operators which take
traveller of UK to outside there country for
travelling and tourism purposes are known as
UK Outbound Tour Operators.
Specialist Tour Operators-: These
type of tour operators forms special holidays
and they are specialised in providing services
at particular destinations for a particular
holiday. Specialist tour operators also have to
take more care for the places as the people
and environment of that destination may try
to provide the negative effects of holiday
(Long and Shi, 2017).

Advancements in
Technology
By the use of
technology the
travellers can
directly visit to
local tourist
without any help
of tour operators.
With the use of
technology the
travellers visiting
to different
country can
easily book there
hotels and flights
without the help
of Outbound
Tour Operators
which affects
there business
growth and
revenue.
The
advancements of
technology effect
on UK Outbound
tour operators
that the travellers
that are visiting
to UK or going
outside to UK
they need no help
for these type of
operators they
directly maker
there
bookings(Raj and
Griffin, 2015).
As such there is
no direct effect
on Specialist tour
operators of
Advancement in
technology as
they provide
packages for
special
destinations
where bookings
are not easily
available and
may be these
type of places are
safe to travel
without any
assistance.
Low Cost
Carriers
As such there is
no direct effect
on these type of
operators as they
manage local
tourist places.
But indirectly it
effects as
because of this
tourist can visit
frequently which
will help in
growing there
revenue.
The low cost
carriers had
increased the
travel and
tourism business
as the tourists
will travel more
as because the
expenses of
travelling will be
less which
directly affects in
increase in
income for
outbound tour
operators as
travelling will be
increased.
They will also
have same effect
of low cost
carrier which
Inbound and
Outbound
Tourists
operators as they
also provide the
same service
which they
provide.
With the help of
low cost carrier
the revenue of
specialist tour
operators had
also increased as
because of the
same reason as
the cost of
travelling had
become less and
travellers can
travel more with
less spending/
Rise and Fall of
Inflation
It directly effects
travel and
tourism business
as if there is rise
in inflation the
spending power
of tourist will be
lower and vice
versa if inflation
is lower (Benur,
and Bramwell,
2015). There
may be chances
of increase in
revenue when
there is lower
inflation rates in
the destination
where tourists
arrived
The effect on
these types of
operators will no
t be directly but
indirectly as the
county which is
having lower
inflation rate will
be visited more
so, the tourist
will travel there
more. So if
attractive
packages for that
country
provided, it may
increase the
growth of
business
The effect of
inflation on these
type of operators
totally depended
on the inflation
rate of UK.
As such there is
no effect of
inflation rates on
these type of tour
operators as if the
travellers wants
to go that he will
not stop even
they have to
spend more as it
is totally
depended upon
the choice of
travellers.
