Synopsis
This article focuses on the number of factors that are related to strategic change
implementation in the organisation and causes influence of participation. Employees’
participation creates a strong commitment of employees and reduces the organisational
resistance towards a strategic change.
This article focuses on two interrelated question that helps in identifying the
knowledge gap related to the participation of people in strategic change. In the first question
it focuses on to examine and investigate the relationship between two firms and then after it,
the author tried to establish that at what degree and at what extent it affects the participation
of people by considering the approach applied in the research paper.
The author conducted the research on data collected by some national
telecommunications firm in order to measure the results of participation in strategic change.
The findings of the research paper are that there is a high level of positive relationship
between participation and goal-achievement and organisational commitment, and there is a
high degree of negative relationship between participation with resistance.
Critique
Participation is important for the success of any organisation and very few researchers
can truly and successfully support this assumption. Author has tested five hypotheses and
show how these are related to participation and successful implementation of strategic
change. The author also finds few limitations such as individual differences that are a
considerable factor in employees’ behaviour and their attitudes/behaviour. According to the
author, a major methodological limitation is that it is based on single key informants for
providing information on the study variables.
Reflection
This content helps me to understand what organisation should do to avoid and
overcome the difficulties arises during the strategic change implementation process. This
article also shows the positive relationship between participation and goal achievement and
commitment. This article helped me to further link with the lecture that how the organisation
