About Dubai International Airport
The Dubai International Airport is the primary international airport that serves the
United Arab Emirates and also considered to be the busiest airport in terms of the international
traffic of the passengers. It is also considered to be the sixth busiest cargo airport in the world.
It has 777 boeing movements and the airport having the highest number of passengers per flight.
In the year 2017, it had 88 million passengers and 2.65 million tonnes of cargo and registered
409, 493 aircraft movements. The Dubai international airport is located in the AI Garhoud
district. The terminal 3 is the considered to be the second-largest building in the world in terms
of floor space and largest airport terminal in the world. The Dubai Airports Company operates
the airport and is the home baser of the International airlines of Dubai. This is an important
contributor in the economy of Dubai because it employs 90,000 people approximately and
support the 400,000 jobs indirectly. It contributes more than US$ 26.7 billion in the economy
that represents around 27 % of the GDP of Dubai. In the year 1937, the civil aviation of Dubai
began after signing anair agreement.

growing international airports in the whole world. The airport left behind the Hong Kong
international and the Charles de Gaule and became the second busiest airport in terms of the
international passengers. In the year 2013, the Dubai International Airport landed up with six
million passengers who passed through the airport. In the year 2012, the number was 57,
684,550 which increased up to 66, 496, 730 that is an increase of 15.3 %. The aircraft
movements almost increased 7.5 %. The airport added extra 28 new destinations of the
passengers during the year. The total number if the destinations served almost 260 cities
worldwide. India held the largest position of being the largest country market of Dubai with
8,401,253 passengers in 2013. It is a growth of 14.3 % when compared to the 7,347,270
passengers in the year 2012.
As far as the destinations are concerned, Doha is in the top place with 2,516,866 passengers.
The number of passengers of London and Kuwait city follows Doha. The passenger numbers
have increased and the profits have also increased dramatically making it win many awards from
various countries that contributed to the economic development of the country and the tourism
development too. The Dubai International Airport offers a unique service to the customers
which includes the Airport Medical Centre, hotel, lounges, transportation, smoking rooms,

traffic in the DXB increased upto 10.7 % and reached a record of 78 million and the aircraft
movement also surged up to 14. 1%. It is due to the growth of 100 international airlines which
connects 240 destinations with DXB. The Dubai Airport started to establish partnership
relationship with the airlines community with the increased engagement for maintaining and
developing the business position and hub. They also organized various airline engagement
events. The on time performance awards were given. As an annual event, the OTP awards is an
event where the airlines received award for their on-time performance. There were also schedule
coordination committee meeting which was a bi-annual event. The Dubai Airports also
participated in different development conferences in order to maximize the airlines marketing
and engage with the potential operators. As far as the non-aeronautical revenues are concerned,
the Dubai Airport consistently enhances the passenger engagement through prioritizing the
customer experience.
The non-aeronautical revenues hiked 11.6 % in the year 2015 as compared to the year 2014. It
consists of 52 % of the entire revenue base of the Dubai Airport. The asset revenue that is
extracted from the rentals and leases across both the airport terminals the cargo areas and the
airfield. It grew by 9 % in the year 2015. It is due to the string relationship maintained with the
