EXECUTIVE SUMMARYThe purpose of this report was to analyze the performance of Ontario Research Fund- Early Research Award.The goal of the program is to improve Ontario’s ability to attract and retain the best and brightest research talent. The report presents the results of this project through various studies. The report starts with an overview of people enrollment into institutions concerning the sectors that they came from. These include the private sector firms, publicly funded research institutions, Government or non-profit groups and others. Later, this report presents a summary and analyses of the overall results collected over the years since the inception of the program in 2006 to 2016 using the variables outlined in the Program’s status report form found in Schedule D. Finally, the report presents its findings from the analyses of the data collected on several independent variables drawn from ERA data code file. These results lead to policy recommendations aimed at improved service delivery. Based on the findings of this project, the research excellence will be achieved, as good policies will be brought to light.A brief distribution and variation of knowledge, training skills and involvement of about 35,827 individuals are presented in a vast period of more than 10 years. The research report highlights involvement of participants in Ontario Research Excellence program and its different factors & segmentation.
INTRODUCTIONThis program provides funding for researchers who started their academic research careerno more than 5 years ago and completed a first PhD, DVM, or MD no more than 10 yearsago. It took into account eligible interruptions.The early researcher awards program is a discretionary and non-entitlement program that encourages applications from all disciplines. Usually there are funds from institutions are used over a period of 5 years to fund eligible expenses for a research team of undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, research assistants, associates, and technicians.Where an institutional eligibility to apply forERAfunding may be in question, such institutions must request and receive confirmation of eligibility from the Ontario Research Fund Advisory Board. The numbers of elementary students, high school students, graduated students, individuals researchers and other people are connected with the project are visualized during the time span of 2006 to 2012.
METHODODLOGYThe study describes the methodology that was used. Quantitative data was used and the targeted study population for the research was students from different institutions. The data is collected among youth researchers and students of various age-ranges over a rangeof more than 10 years. Therefore, the data analysis is a time-series data analysis. MS-Excel 2016 is used for the calculation and vibrant graphical representation of the project dataset.

Among them, 8,146 were Researchers including the institution’s researchers, 2,870 were post-doctoral qualified personnel, 5,865 were doctoral students while 5,369 were master’s students. 8,230 among the total were undergraduate students whereas 5,347 fall under the other
category. The qualification denoted by “other” include research associates, private sector personnel and project managers. The figure below depicts the breakdown by their qualification level.
