INTRODUCTION
Project management is one of the important aspect for managing project as per the
estimated time, cost and resources. It plays important role in taking appropriate decisions in
an organization. The current research project is based on reflective report of my project
which has focused on an innovation launching planning (Ramazani and Jergeas, 2015). In
this project I have focused on developing a digital menu card for a restaurant which will help
in reducing the burden on staff member. I have completed this project in 12 weeks and my
learnings has increased in high manner about the research. Along with this, I have faced some
issues which has been resolved by me in appropriate way. So, for the current report I will
include all learnings, problems and techniques which I have used at the time of completing
that project. Along with this, I will apply some specific model for completing my reflecting
writing.
Gibbs Reflective Cycle:
There are number of models and approaches that can be used by researchers for
analysing the self-learnings and challenges during their research. I am applying Gibbs
reflective cycle for completing my reflective report for my new innovative thinking project.
This reflective cycle is one of the important model which motivates me to think in a
systematic manner (Gamrat, Zimmerman, Dudek and Peck, 2014). It includes different
phases which will help me in thinking about my experience, activity and challenges. Along
with this, using this model I can prepare my reflective statement in a proper structure with
headings. Gibbs cycle can be presented by the following stages:

1. Description
As per the current business scenario automation is one of the major need of the
service industry such as hospitality, consultancy, etc. In my project I have discussed about
that Restaurants required lots of time on taking orders and it increases the need of staff
member also. Along with this, due to long time in placing orders staff members cannot
complete their other responsibilities (Brookfield, 2017). So, this was the major research
problem on which I have focused on my research project. So, for resolving this issue my
project was based on developing a digital menu list and system by which customers can place
their orders in restaurant automatically. I will help in reducing the time for restaurant as well
as also increase the optimum utilization of resources also. For implementing this project in
effective manner I have used ten different digital thinking tools which were Visualisation,
Journey mapping, Value chain analysis, Mind mapping, Rapid concept development,
assumption testing, Rapid prototype, Customer co-creation, learning launches and
Storytelling. Application of all these activities have increased the scope of attaining
objectives in effective manner. Along with this, all these techniques have helped in
developing a project plan also. After applying these tools I have developed a launch plan. In
this plan I have focused on launching this automation system in front of all over the world. In
this plan I have proposed a plan for developing a digital menu list and how I will promote
(Lucas and et al, 2017). During this launch plan I have realised that communication is also
one of the important aspect which requires for a successful project. So, I have developed a

mode of prelaunch communication plan in which I have focused on marketing and promotion
of the digital menu list or this automation project. Regarding this, I realised that social media
marketing is one of the strong platform and using this restaurant can attract young customers.
Along with this, I have also developed a resource plan which was focused on the required
resources for completing the Automation project in effective manner. I have included
physical, human, intellectual and financial resources (Kaiser, El Arbi and Ahlemann, 2015).
All these have increased my learnings towards the resource requirement. At the end my
project has included long term plan for success of the automation projection. My research has
also provided some recommendations for consideration of different features in digital order
list such as the quality of food, time in preparing food as per the order, visual guidance, etc. I
have included a Gantt chart including different activities which I have done in this project
and required time for completing this project. It is one of the best way to present project
schedule (Martinsuo, 2013).
2. Feelings
Accomplishment of this project was not an easy task for me because during this
investigation I have faced lots of problems related to the writing, research, data collection and
innovative approach. So, Most of the time I was thinking that I will not able to complete the
project. But, when I was completed my first activity my confidence level was increased and I
was become more focused towards my research on automation project. About my feelings
and thinking I can say that I was bot confused about my topic because I did not have
sufficient knowledge about the automation and such kind of project (Beringer, Jonas and
Kock, 2013). This topic was a bit new for me. So, I thought that I would be succeed or not.
But, once I have started investigation I have got lots of new things about the automation,
digital menu list and restaurant requirements. All these new concepts have increased my
interest in this topic so, it was one of the major reason because of that I have complete this
project in successful manner. In addition, I was aware about the MS office but I have not
used Power point presentation and different others tools of this. So, it was also one of the new
thing about that I needed to explore more. So, at the time of completing this project I felt like
there are lots of new things about that I can increase my learning and knowledge. It was one
of the confidence booster for me (Bresnen, 2016).
3. Evaluation
As I discussed that at the time of completing this project I have lots of good and bad
experiences. In terms of my learnings and knowledge I can say that now I have huge
of the digital menu list or this automation project. Regarding this, I realised that social media
marketing is one of the strong platform and using this restaurant can attract young customers.
Along with this, I have also developed a resource plan which was focused on the required

3. Evaluation
As I discussed that at the time of completing this project I have lots of good and bad
experiences. In terms of my learnings and knowledge I can say that now I have huge
knowledge about the Automation system for a restaurant. This project has increased my
learnings in terms of subject, research, literature review, different tools and techniques for
launching this plan, resource management, communication plan, etc (Sánchez, 2015). As I
learned that Visualisation is one of the best digital thinking activity which can be used for
different innovations in Design IT. As per this tool my knowledge level has increased in
terms of the user interface and visualisation of the digital menu list. I have got new
knowledge about the table concept of the digital menu list. Along with this, I have learned
about the value chain analysis that helps in analysing internal and external analysis of the
organization. As per this analysis customer can check the availability of the food in restaurant
by which he or she can place the order. In addition my learnings has increased in different
other tools also which were applied by me for my project. So, self-evaluation has reflected
that automation project has increased my subjective knowledge (Hill, 2013).
On the other hand, I have completed this project using the secondary data analysis
process. It is one of the important tool for collecting data for completing investigation in
effective manner. Obtaining data from the secondary sources was also one of the best
experience because initially I was not successful in getting the appropriate sources because I
was unaware about the different features and literature search strategy. But, after sometime I
have used the advance search option for resolving this issue (Morris, 2013). So, this option
has helped me in getting the appropriate data for developing a plan for making a digital list
for a restaurant. Along with this, it has improved my learnings in terms of different sources of
collecting secondary data such as literature, books, websites, articles, news and blogs about
the latest technology, etc. Therefore, data collection was one of the good experience of this
project (Goebel, 2015).
Similarly, I have used Ms Word and Power Point Presentation for writing this project.
I was able to run a computer but I was not aware about the line of functions of all these. So,
after completing this project now I have lots of new things about the Ms Word and Power
point presentation. Along with this, now my typing speed has also improved.
Accomplishment of this project has also augment my proficiency in English Language. It has
augment the knowledge in terms of grammar, punctuation, etc (Farrell, 2015).
Including this, earlier I was unaware about the reference styles which are used by
researchers for citing their report. So, my project has increased my learnings in terms of APA
format of reference by which I can complete my future research project using this style of
reference. Overall, this project has increased my knowledge and learnings in each and every
section, so, it was one of the wonderful experience to complete this project.

In contrast, I have faced some issues of challenges also which can be considered as
bad experiences (Lock, 2014). But, I have sued proper and appropriate strategies to overcome
that issues. So, my strategies have helped me in completing my project in successful manner.
For example, I was unable to get any data about the digital menu list for restaurant. I was
unable to find any example for the application of tools and techniques. But, advance search
option, key word search strategy and Boolean operator strategy have helped me in getting the
correct data which was I wanted to complete my report.
Also, I have faced issue in managing my time and increasing the speed of research. In
my initial stage I was unable to manage time for each and every activity. It was one of the big
challenge for me (Bischoff, French and Schaumloffel, 2014). I have used time management
strategy and developed a Gantt chart for managing my time. I divided my time and activities
for 12 weeks by which can manage all activities on time. Therefore, this time management
plan has helped me a lot. So, gnat chart has resolved my issue of time management.
4. Analysis
Overall analysis of the project can be summarised in a way of increment in the
learnings, knowledge and future scope of the research. Along with this, it has also increased
my level of confidence for conducting different investigations. Through the analysis I can
also say that digital menu list project or Automation projection is one of the most innovative
thinking in the sector of Design It because implementation of this project in real world
scenario can change the life of restaurants and increase their profitability level (Tsingos-
Lucas, Bosnic-Anticevich and Smith, 2016).
5. Conclusion and Action plan
Reflective stamen on the Automation project has disclosed that I have increased my
learnings in terms of subject, research, information technology, internet, etc. At the time of
completing this project I have not selected any specific organization so, now at the time of
completing this statement I can realise that I could complete this project on a specific
restaurant by which I can develop a specific project. Along with this, there is one of the major
scope here like I can develop such kind of automation system project for different services of
hotels such a laundry, food, entertainment, housekeeping, etc. overall, it has increased my
future scope of the research (Martinsuo, 2013).
In coming future I will develop a live research project on similar subject for a specific
organization. In this project I have not focused on primary data collection and quantitative
bad experiences (Lock, 2014). But, I have sued proper and appropriate strategies to overcome
that issues. So, my strategies have helped me in completing my project in successful manner.
