The importance of sustainable tourism development for environment
As per viewpoint of Alejandro Filloy (2018) Sustainable tourism is concerned with
supporting local economy as well as community tourism initiatives. Through buying local
products means support community and through tourism initiatives that assuring financial
advantages that stay with people. It is one of the effective way of travelling that leaves minimum
impact on visited places and leaves positive effect on society. It is way of exploring and

environment and the local culture that aids in generating the future employment for the local

establishment of life sanctuaries and national parks. On the other hand, education regarding
reasons for sustainable tourism placed spotlight on the responsible planning. As large number of

ecotourism aids to protect the pristine environment and natural habitats. This permits
communities and countries to develop their economies without harming an environment. It helps
in attracting the large number of consumers towards different destination places of Malta
country. This is possible for the tourism to be better for environment. The sustainable tourism
attempts to use resources which available to conserving them for future. If the sustainable

how an individual behave in the way that they do (Flick, 2015). It gives in-depth or detailed data
regarding human behaviour. The qualitative method of research is a kind of the social science
investigation that gathers and works with the non- numerical data and also seeks to interpret the
meaning from data that help to understand the social life by study of the targeted populations.
This permits an investigator to choose problems in depth and also detail without the constrained

quantitative data such as surveys, observations etc. Along with this, for gathering qualitative
data, interview, focus group, observations, postcards etc. are consider biggest sources. Among
these study, quantitative research method will be opt by researcher. As this type of study is more
useful for investigator by giving them information from the questionnaire.
Justification of selecting qualitative research method: There are different advantages
that will be gained by researcher if they use quantitative research methods. It includes data

information from a larger sample is used and many other (Gioia, Corley and Hamilton, 2013).

combine different elements of study in a reasonable logical way so that research problem is
handled in efficient manner. Research design gives insights regarding how to conduct
investigation applying a specific methodology (Green, Camilli and Elmore, 2012). The entire
activity or task of the study is depend of research design which is followed by investigator or

help in gather the quantifiable information to used for the statistical analysis of population
sample. It is scientific method that consists observing behaviour of subject without any
influencing (Gioia, Corley and Hamilton, 2013).
Experimental research design- This is mainly related with constructing an investigation
that high in the causal validity. It gives high level of the causal validity. It is any research that
conducted with particular approach, where the variables set are constant while some other are
measured as subject of experiment (Hall, Gossling and Scott, 2015).
Exploratory research design- It is mainly for the problems which has not studied in a
clear manner before, develop operational concepts, intended to be establish the priorities to make
improvement and make improvement in final research design. The main focus of this research
design is to explaining aspects of study in detailed manner (Lee and Hsieh, 2016).
Among these types of research design, descriptive design will be going to applied by
researcher. As this type of design is more suitable and help investigator in deriving valid
conclusion.
2. Sample
In research terms as sample introduces to the group of people, items or objects that are
taken from a biggest population for measurement. Sample represents the entire population and
include how the sample is chosen when it is taken from large population. This is a major factor
that determining the accuracy of the results of the survey. Along with this, sampling is the
process used by researcher for choosing a part of population. There are two techniques of
sampling such as probability and non-probability. Probability sampling uses simple random
sampling method to create a sample. On the other hand, non-probability sampling use non-
random process like convenience sampling or researcher judgement (Kumar, 2019). Therefore,
both are consider effective technique of sampling but for selecting sample size for current study,
probability sampling method will be going to applied by researcher. By using this method, 50
respondents will be taken into consideration. Non-probability is consider another kind of
sampling technique which is not used for choosing sample size of this study. There are several
techniques that help gather sample based on the condition and needs. Different kinds of sampling

methods mention below:
16
Probability sampling- This is sampling technique in which the sample from large
population are selected through using method that based on probability theory. In this, everyone
in population has known and also equal chance of getting chosen. Under this, investigators
should set to some of the process that assures with confidence that has various unites in sample
population have the equal opportunities. It is one under which the each component of population
has known non- zero probability of chosen. This kind of sampling method provides probability
that sample is population representative. The main benefit of probability sampling is that it
provide the high reliability level related to research findings (Mason, 2015).
Non- probability sampling- This uses the non- randomized methods in order to draw
sample. This method of sampling mainly considers the judgement. In this, participants are
mainly chosen because they are easier to be access. In non- probability sampling technique
where samples are collected in process which do not provide equal chance to all people in
population of being chosen. The benefits of non- probability sampling method are cost and
convenience. In context to this, sample group members have to be chosen according to personal
judgement or accessibility of an investigator. This is helpful in exploratory studied stages for an
instance pilot survey (Muresan and et. al, 2016).
Justification of choosing probability sampling: Simple random sampling as an useful
type of probability sampling will be used for this research. Random sampling is useful technique
as it creates or develops samples that are extremely representative of population. Therefore, as
compare to non-probability sampling, probability sampling is much more appropriate. As this
sampling technique not take more time, resources and cost of the researcher (Mackenzie Tan,
Hoverman and Baldwin, 2012). In addition to this, probability sampling help investigator in
selection of sample size on random basis. There are different advantages of probability sampling
such as cost effective, involves lesser degree of judgement, comparatively easier way of
sampling, less time consuming, sample representative of population and can be done even by
non-technical persons. Therefore these are consider main ways for selecting this type of
sampling.

to measure or gather information about the field of study. It include survey, interviews, informal
observations scales, questionnaire and indexes (Mackey and Gass, 2015). All these instruments
are essential but for measuring of gathering information about the impact of tourism
management on sustainable tourism development, questionnaire will be used.
Justification of selecting questionnaire as a measurement instrument: Questionnaire is
an useful instrument or tool of data collection or measurement. There are various reasons for
using questionnaire including less time consuming, generates a large amount of data, low to no
