Step 1: Introduction
The educational approach that blends the learning and community service at a time to
frame out a progressive learning along with solving social issues. Community partnership are the
organizations or government offices, public agencies and schools even many a times the private
business where the individuals provide the community service to the communities which is
served as an integral part of their academic course or training. The students while undertaking
service learning opportunities might face difficulty to cope with the situations and in many cases
time may be the factor which becomes a problem for many students who are no able to join or
manage their training. Other factor that can affect the students in service learning is that
communities many a times demand for works that are not in line which creates dissatisfaction
among the learners. The community partners play a significant role in the working of the
organization by establishing their own sources and creating their own solutions to end gun
violence in schools. This initiative is taken by the Mom demand action group which is partnered
with the organization.
Step 2: Community Partnerships
The organization Every town for Gun Safety have partnerships with the 2 groups one was
the group of mayors which consist of 1000 current and former mayors and the other group was
Mom demand action founded after the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting for mothers
(Every town for Gun Safety, 2018). Both the groups related to the organization work together to
make America a safer place and work jointly to end gun violence. There are many mayors who
left the organization after NRA the opposition of the organization has stated that mayors are not
against illegal guns but is actually anti-gun and approaches the members of the group to resign of

the organization. Other than the above two partnerships the organization have an advisory board
consisting of the businessman, investor and even the survivors of the gun incident.
Step 3: Volunteers
Volunteers are the people who work together with the organization for the betterment of
their community and themselves. Volunteers are the valuable resource or can be considered as
the essential part of the organization (Anderson et al., 2014). Volunteers bring about many
benefits to the organization such as public opinion on many important issues that might have
never been noticed by the organization. Then with volunteers comes the new ideas and refreshed
energy with fresh perspectives. Additionally, the delivery of the services becomes objectives
with specialized skills and knowledge of the volunteer. The major difference between the service
learning and volunteering is that volunteering can be done by both skilled and unskilled whereas
in service learning skilled volunteers are required. Service learning is purposeful and
volunteering is unintentional. Service learning is beneficial to communities in the sense it
supports the faculty by providing the real world issues and their ideas (McDonald & Dominguez,
2015). The reflection of the structured activities by the students work experience gives n
opportunity to create more advanced research and a strong relation among the students and the
communities. The benefits to students are considered by developing self confidence and
opportunities to learn briefly with the community members. They also get a better understanding
of the situation which they handle in the training period (Hebert & Hauf, 2015).
Step 4: Conclusion
It can be concluded from the above that the organization partner with other communities
to seek help regarding the issues to solve together with different views and solutions that come

up with the fresh perspectives. Volunteers are used by the organizations to bring about the new
thinking among them which will help to spread awareness to others and credibility of their
service. Volunteers bring new ideas to the community with their skills and knowledge which is
used by the organizations to achieve their objective. The challenges faced by the students while
service learning can be summarized as at first the time factor and the second as dissatisfaction
from the community work. However, this benefits the students as well by increasing their
confidence level and knowledge with real based experience (Hebert & Hauf, 2015).
