Introduction
In order to plan smoking cessation intervention within adolescent, it is very important to
consider co-occurring disorder. It is also important to identify the components which are
associated with smoking and predictors for smoking cessation in a group of adults in a residential
addiction treatment program. In order to analyse on this situation, researcher have conducted
survey of 400 clinical records of adolescents aged 13 to 18 at a short term residential addiction
program. With assistance of this investigation, researcher have able to examined the relationship
of smoking with use of drug, psychiatric disorder an adverse events.
Research Process
In order to find out and analyze clinical needs 13 to 18 aged people population, identify
the relationship between specific drugs of abuse and psychiatric diagnoses with smoking, and
consider factors that may be important for the implementation of smoking cessation interventions
for adolescents in residential addiction treatment programs. Investigator has conducted a
descriptive chart review and data extraction study of 400 clinical charts of adolescents aged 13 to
18 at short-term residential addiction treatment program (Brook, Chenshu, Finch, and Brook,
2010). Standardized intake, assessment, and discharge forms were reviewed from medical record
archives, working backward sequentially for 2 years. In order to find out the data, researchers
have conducted the survey from the 13 to 18 year old adults. In this investigation, researchers
have use descriptive research design and primary data collection method.
Evaluation and critique analysis
According to the view of Brook, J. S., Chenshu, Z., Finch, S. J., & Brook, D. W. (2010) In
this research investigation, researchers have used various method of the research
methodology. This is one of the most significant aspect in the entire investigation by which
scholar can find out the solution by implement several techniques and tools of the research
methodology. In this aspect includes research approach, research design, research
philosophies, research techniques, data collection, sampling etc. With assistance of these
several kinds of method, investigation has effectively found the information about the
Implications for Smoking Cessation Interventions for Adolescents in Residential Addiction
Treatment. However, it is too difficult to select best and appropriate tool for the find out
optimum solution of research problem. In the opinion of Campbell, Chi, Sterling, Kohn &
Weisner, (2009) In the context of research approach, researcher have analyzed that it assist
in analyzing entire objective and aim of the investigation. Major two kind of the research
approach that are inductive and deductive. In this study, investigator have implement
deductive research approach for analyze the implications for smoking cessation
Interventions for adolescents in residential addiction treatment. In addition to this, another
significant method of the research methodology is research philosophy which aid to
researcher in analyzing the actual issue of the investigation. There are major two kind of
research philosophies that is interpritivism and positivism. In the study, investigator have
used positivism research philosophy because entire investigation is based on the thematic

analysis of data. With assistance of the positivism research philosophy , researcher can
easily analyze the implications for smoking cessation Interventions for adolescents in
residential addiction treatment. As per the view of Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention. (2011) On the other hand another significant method in the research
methodology is research design which is blue print of the entire investigation and data
analysis. In the absence of research design, researcher can unable to investigator the actual
analysis of data and unable to find out best solution. With assistance of research design,
researcher can conduct data analysis, interpretation, data collection etc. In this present
study, researcher has used descriptive research design by which whole study can effectively
conduct and analyze for find out best solution. Descriptive research design can assist to the
scholar in conducting detail investigation and find out best solution. In addition to this,
another significant method in the research methodology is data collection. In the absence of
data collection, no individual can collect and analyze the information for find out best
solution of research issue. In the opinion of Clark, D. B., & Cornelius, J. (2004) Data
collection is a process under which researcher collect information through primary and
secondary resource. In the primary data collection, information can collect with use of
primary sources such as survey, interview, observation etc. On the other hand in the context
of secondary data collection, information can collect with help of secondary resources such
as books, journals, magazines, online article, blog etc. In this present study, researcher have
main aim is to analyze the implications for smoking cessation Interventions for adolescents
in residential addiction treatment. Thus, in order to collect the information about the clinical
records of adolescents aged 13 to 18 at a short-term residential addiction treatment program
and relationships of smoking with use of other drugs, psychiatric disorders, and adverse
events, researcher have used the primary data collection method in this study. In this
primary data collection, researcher has conducted investigation from adolescents who have
aged of 13 to 18 year old. Accordfing to the view of Cuijpers, Smit, ten Have & de Graaf
(2007) the sample includes adolescents aged 13 to 18 who were admitted to the residential
program for detoxification and or stabilization of a primary substance use disorder. With
help of this survey of the patients who are admitted to the residential program for
detoxification and or stabilization , researcher have beneficial to analyze the numbers of
people who are addicted of the smoking and drugs in the 13 to 18 age. On the other hand it
has been also assessed that in the study, researcher have used another significant method of
the research methodology that is research technique. It is one of the most significant method
in the study by which researcher can able to collect, analyze, interpret the information about
the subject and find out best solution of research problem. Research technique helped to
investigator in analyzing and assessing entire research study for obtain an effective outcome
of the study. In the absence of research technique, scholar cannot obtain the effective
outcome of the study. In order to conduct effective analysis and attain the objective,
researcher has to focus on the research technique. There are major two kind of research
technique that is qualitative and quantitative. In the present study, scholar have used
qualitative research technique for analyze implications for smoking cessation interventions
for adolescents in residential addiction treatment. According to the view of Dani & Harris,
(2005) With help of qualitative research technique, scholar can represent the information
about the subject in the form of graphs, tables and chart. This is best method to investigate
about the subject. With assistance of this method, any one can easily understand the actual
objective, method and investigation process in the study. In this present study, researcher

have focused on the demographic segment under which scholar selects the respondents in
the basis of age, gender, ethnicity and race. In the clinical chart, age, gender, ethnicity and
race were extracted from the patient demographic forms. In the opinion of Griesler,
Schaffran & Kandel, (2011) In this study, descriptive and inferential statistics has been used
for reporting on demographic variables, rates of smoking and use of other substances. In
addition to this chi square and correlation tests has been sued by the researcher for assess
and examine the relationship between the onset and frequency of smoking with the onset of
other drug use psychiatric diagnoses, adverse events, and factors that predict readiness for
smoking cessation. Furthermore, logical regression analyses have been aloes implemented in
this study to find out the correlation of smoking and predictors of readiness for smoking
cessation. This have been also seen in this report that quantitative technique of research have
been also implementer in this study to find out the result and outcome in more effective
manner. In this aspect, researcher has used correlation and regression in order to get
accuracy of results. Qualitative research technique has also helped to the investigator in
obtaining the right and accuracy of information.
With assistance of this study, in the health and social care sector patient can get the
knowledge and information about the drawback of consuming smoking and alcohol.
From this entire research study, it have been recommended in the health and care sector that
government should focus on this activities of people about consumption of alcohol and smoking.
Government should develop such effective policies, practices and regulation which can help in
overcoming this kind of activities and habit among the people so as disorder due to consumption
of alcohol and smoking can easily overcome from the society. Health and social care
organization should use some impressive promotion and advertisement strategy through which
message can more promote among the society to overcome this kind of smoking and alcohol
consumption among the society. Everyone should aware about the drawback and harm of the
consumption of smoking and alcohol through which they can escape from this issue and harm,
From this entire study it has been found that due to the high rate of consumption of alcohol and
smoking, there are many adult and teenager, young people have negatively affected so it is very
important for the society to get the education and awareness about this aspect and protect their
healthy life. This consumption can occurs the cancer type of disorder among the society so
government should provide effective education and awareness among the society for precaution
of this thing so as society can survive their healthy life. With help of health care activities,
seminar, workshop, promotion, and strict rules and policies government can control this
consumption of alcohol and smoking among the society. In health and care organization, health
experts and professionals should understand the importance of precaution from the smoking and
drugs and they should provide awareness among the people so as they can prevent and protect
from the unhealthy life and harms. They should cooperate with government in implementing the
policies and practices for overcome the issue of the high rate of consumption of smoking and
drug among the adults and young people in the society.
Conclusion
From the entire investigation and study, i have analysed that there are several kind of
method used in this study for find out the best solution of research issue. Research methodology
has assisted to scholar in implementation of techniques of research and data collection. From the
collected data i have analysed that Smoking is common in adolescents seeking drug and alcohol
treatment and is correlated with the onset and progression of other drug use. In the young and
adult people, consumption rate has been increased of the smoking and drugs. It has been also

concluded from this study that it is very important to provide awareness among the young and
adult people about the disadvantage and drawback of consuming smoking and drugs. From the
collected data it have been found that from the total sample 79% has positively associated with
the onset of consumption of alcohol. It mean from the total population 79% people have
regularly consume the alcohol. In addition to this, the person who consuming 10 cigarette per
day that mean they are followed the onset of cannabis use for over half the sample and they are
also was correlated with cocaine and opiate addiction. In addition to this I have also founded
that Over half of the sample (56%) was precontemplative about smoking cessation, whereas 30%
were in the contemplative stage (ready to stop in 6 months); 12% were in preparation stage(ready
to stop in 30 days); and 2% reported that they already had stopped. In the health and care sector
it have been promoted that due to the heavy level f consumption and smoking and drug can
occurs the high level disorder and issue among the young and adult people. Thus it is very
important to provide awareness and information from reduce this kind of activities among the
society.
