Globalisation is the procedure of interacting and communicating among different people,
organisation and government in all over the world. As a complex and multifaceted phenomenon,
globalisation is mainly considered as a form of capitalist expansion which entails the
combination of local and national economies in global area. Globalisation has grown due to
advanced in transportation and interaction with technology. With the enhancement of global
interactions come with the growth of international ideas, trade and culture. It is the leading
process of combination and integration which are related to social and culture factors.
Globalisation involves products, services, economic resources of capital, data and technology in
better manner. The expansion of global markets liberalise the economic activities of exchange of
various products and funds.
Background of research
Sainsbury is the third largest chain of supermarket which is situated in United Kingdom
along with 16.9% market share of the supermarket industry. The company is the largest retailer
grocery store and shops which are offer variety of goods and services in the large market place.
Sainsbury is became the market leader and Asda became the second largest retail company in the
year of 2003, demoting Sainsbury to third place for most of the resultant period.

Aim: “To determine the role of globalisation in implementation of strategic human resource at
workplace. An investigation on Sainsbury.

To ascertain the concept of strategic human resource management.
To evaluate the importance of globalisation in terms of development of strategic human

To determine the benefits gained by Sainsbury after implementation of strategic HRM.
