CHAPTER 3: METHODOLOGY
Methodology refers to system of the methods which are used in specific area of activity
or study. The methodology may consist interviews, publication research, surveys and some other
techniques by consisting historical and present information. It is based on the research onion that
was developed through Saunders to explain stages by which investigator should pass when
creating better methodologies (Axelrod and VanDeveer, 2014).
3.1 Research Philosophy
It is first layer in research onion and most necessary. The research philosophy is an idea
or belief about collection of data, interpretation and analysis in a better manner. The research
philosophy is related to development of the knowledge in specific area. There are interpretivism
and positivism two different kinds of research philosophies. In order to conduct this
investigation, researcher used interpretivism philosophy because it helps in determining solutions
of related problems by use of frameworks and theories in a better manner.
3.2 Research Approaches
It is second layer in research onion and divided into two different parts i.e. inductive and
deductive approaches. The deductive approach will give proper observations which are required
in forming views for outcomes in order to address research objectives. On the other hand,
inductive approach consists collection of data and developing theory based on outcomes of data
analysis (Bailey and et al., 2018). This research is based on inductive research approach because
it relied on the subjectivity in evaluation of observations for supporting outcomes of
investigation.
3.3 Strategies

quality or theoretical basis. On the other hand, in quantitative method, data is collected on the
basis of facts and figures. For conducting this investigation, researcher used mixed methods with
use of quantitative and qualitative approach has been taken as research methods which applied in
study to consistent with pragmatist research philosophy.
3.5 Time Horizons
It is a time framework within which project is to be intended for completion. There are
two different types of time horizon in research onion such as longitudinal and cross sectional.
For conducting this investigation, cross- sectional timing was used with investigation conducted
over period of time (Belás and et. al., 2014).
3.6 Techniques and Procedures
It is a final layer in research onion and related to procedure and techniques. For collection
of data, primary and secondary both techniques has been used. For primary investigation,
structured questionnaire was prepared and used with the different respondents giving their inputs
by provided questionnaire. On the other hand, secondary investigation entailed research and use
of different sources like books, articles etc. For analysis of collected data, thematic analysis has
been used through investigator. It helps in provide the effectiveness as well as efficiency of
collected information and data from various sources.
