Title:
Equality and Diversity within the organisation.
Introduction
The present study initiates to determine the potential need for a business to manage equality
and diversity at workplace for the intention of exploring business operations. Therefore, equality
and diversity are two critical aspects which are requires to be considered by the businesses for
the better implementation of business operations (Cano, 2020). Equality is mainly refers as the
aspect through which equality has been provided to the individual at workplace, thus no
discrimination has taken place. On the other side, diversity is mainly encompasses over different
aspect like culture, background, religion, sex and so on. Thus, diversity is effective for the
business to manage effective talent at workplace to promote their performance. In this present
investigation overall analysis is based on Sky UK, British broadcaster and telecommunications
company, which has its major concern over managing equality and diversity for the purpose of
attaining higher growth and success. However, this report contains the study about equality and
diversity at workplace and for this aim and objectives are created to support the work in right
manner. Literature review is taken place to enhance individual understanding in relation to the
specific area. In addition to this, suitable methodological selection is required to drawn valid and
reliable outcome (Dover, Kaiser and Major, 2020). Data analysis has been taken place via
conducting survey with the help of designing questionnaire and conclusion and recommendation
has been drawn over the findings of the research.
Task 1
P1) A research proposal that clearly defines the research questions or hypothesis supported to
literature review
Gender equality is explained as various behaviours, requirements and aspirations of men and
women are values, considered and also favoured equally. this does not mean that men and
women have to same but their responsibilities, rights and opportunities will not based on whether
they are born female or male (Fine, Sojo and LawfordSmith, 2020). Gender equality in
leadership and management is better for the business as this helps organisation in reduce the
gender gap. Sky UK is British telecommunications and Broadcaster Company that gives fixed

line, mobile telephone services, television and broadband services. The main focus of this
organisation is to provide the better opportunities to female employees and involve them in
management and leadership roles.
Rationale of Research
This research has been taken into consideration on impact of gender equality in leadership
and management. It is necessary to give the equal job responsibilities’ as well as opportunities to
female employees as equal to male. The main reason for conducting present investigation is to
gain the understanding about the gender equality in leadership and management to an
investigation (Byron and Post, 2016). This research helps in enhancing research skills of an
investigator to carry out similar kind of investigation in future. For gaining growth the
management of the firm is concern ove managing equality and diversity at workplace, thus for
suitable execution of the project aim and objectives are developed which are described as below:
Research Aim
The aim of this research is “To determine impact on gender equality in leadership and
management”. A study on Sky UK.
Research Objectives
To examine the Gender equality in leadership and management concept.
To identify impact on gender equality in leadership and management in Sky UK.
To determine the gender issues arise in leadership and management in an organisation.
Research Questions
What is Gender equality in leadership and management?
In which manner, gender equality impact in leadership and management in Sky UK?
What are gender issues arise in leadership and management in an organisation?
Literature Review
Gender equality in leadership and management
As per opinion of Rozita Dadras (2020) Gender equality is related to giving the equal
treatment to men and women both. When women reach the top, they face a challenge with nearly
a half of their workers regardless of their personality, abilities and attributes of leadership are not
men. This is also alleged that a large percentage of staff dislike working in a setting where,
resulting in poor leadership, the senior leader is a woman, but eligible (Post and Byron, 2015).

Organizations define standards for evaluating women's capacity and potential, and they include
equitable incentives in businesses to ensure that gender differences are reduced. For women
workers in management and leadership positions, the organization assigns less importance. They
assume that female workers are less able than male employees. Leadership and gender gap
awareness is both pervasive and widespread, but cannot be overcome. To overcome this
problem, managers have to build fair as well as flexible expectations of employees of women
and men, by developing a fair workplace culture.
Impact on gender equality in leadership and management in Sky UK
On the basis of Sigrid Olsson (2020) Gender equality develops the positive and negative
impact in leadership and management in Sky UK company. Treating the female employees as
equal to men helps in motivate them and providing those better job opportunities by giving their
better contribution (Marinova, Plantenga and Remery, 2016). The positive and negative impact
of gender equality in leadership and management given below:
Positive impact
As women in Sky UK increasingly take-up the leadership positions, prevailing the
leadership style of men and women continue to attract the attention. Many of the women are
appoint as the leaders and mangers position. Getting the more women in to the management and
leadership role is not about the changing. This is all about developing environment where the
women can be thrive. Equal opportunities can lead to a supportive atmosphere in Sky UK that
encourages and motivates all workers.
Negative impact
Women are criticized as frequently threatened or harassed, imprevisible, unsure, crazy,
moody, vain, and favoritist within peer groups. Gender issues arise in leadership and
management in an organisation. Gender bias makes this more difficult for women to be hired and
promoted and keeps them at work (Gupta, Goktan and Gunay, 2014). It is typically the result of
emotions that often influence women's leadership and management decisions in their respective
firms. In addition to this, women at workplace are not risk-takers who can adversely impact
companies because they often have to decide within an organisation.
Gender issues arise in leadership and management in an organisation
According to opinion of RincónDiez, González and Barrero,(2017), Gender equality can
result in a number of barriers to leadership in Sky UK. As women cannot make a big decision on

leadership at their respective companies because they make emotional decisions and this can also
have a negative impact on lead time. In addition, leadership is not so easy that it requires proper
training and development (Sangrà, Vlachopoulos and Cabrera, 2012). Thus Sky UK manager is
considered responsible for planning a suitable meeting for his employees who help them
successfully overcome the barriers. Other than this, Formal networks are required at Sky UK to
achieve their desired purpose and objective in the business environment in an acceptable manner.
Women are lacking behind in Sky UK compared to men because they don't have many formal
Networks. It is vital for female managers in company to create a network inside business
environments in order to address this obstacle as this will enable them better perform their
leadership role and help them achieve aim and objectives (Christy and Fox, 2014).
P2) Appropriate research methods and approaches to primary and secondary research
Research onion has been used to conducting the research methodology. Various layers
included in the research onion given below:
Research Philosophy- It represents the belief in how the researcher can gather, interpret
and use specific details about the subject. The philosophy section is divided into two types of
interpretivism and positivism (Karimi and et. al., 2016). In this project, positivism research
philosophy will be used because it converts the general information into specific. This helps in
understanding about the specific subject area effectively and get positive conclusion.
Research Approaches- It provides a valuable way to complete detailed and step-by -
step research on the subject. Two main kinds of research approach are considered for this project
inductive and deductive. In conducting present study, deductive research approach is because it
covers crucial and relevant current research topic articles. Its main focus is on providing the
reliable and authentic information.
Research Choice- There are three main choices for a researcher for study collection.
This is divided into quantitative, mixed and qualitative sections. This is a primarily exploratory
research under qualitative research (Ahl and Nelson, 2015). This is used to properly understand
the topic. By carrying out quantitative analysis, empirical data or hard facts are added to the
question in quantity. Another option for research choice is a mixed method. This will include
qualitative as well as quantitative analysis. This project will be focused on qualitative and
quantitative research choice in order to accumulate information and finding hard facts.

Research Strategies- This study methodology section covers various kinds of research
strategies such as evaluation processes, questionnaires , focus groups , schedules for interviews,
case studies etc. The main forms of research strategy are all considered It is used in this study
questionnaire as it supports the accumulation of both valid and appropriate information on
impact of gender equality in leadership and management (Maiorescu-Murphy, 2020).
Data collection- Two useful kinds of data collection that will be implemented for this
research are introduced both primary and secondary. For gathering primary knowledge,
Questionnaire will be used. This primary research instrument will enable a researcher to gather
reliable findings on the impact of gender equality in leadership and management. The main
reason of using the primary method is that it provides the reliable information within set time
period. The advantages and disadvantages of primary method given below:
Advantages Disadvantages
Researcher can collect the data
personally.
Data is gathered up to date and
particular to research objectives.
It takes more time of complete an
investigation.
It needs prior information about
specific subject area.
Sampling- It is an essential method to select the sample size from the given population.
As per the present study, a researcher uses a random samples method and chose 40 respondents.
The main reason behind using this method is that it gives the equal chance to all the chosen
participants (Maiorescu-Murphy, 2020).
Data analysis-The analysis of data is described as the procedure of using statistical and
analytical tools to looking for useful information. This collects and analyzes data from various
sources to shape the conclusion or the findings. This is an important principle that helps
understand primary source knowledge. The thematic approach is followed in this research to
grasp it more and more properly. It helps to gain brief insight into research priorities and
objectives.

Task 2
P3) Primary And secondary research applying appropriate methods for the business research
project that consider cost, access and ethical issue.
Primary and secondary both recognised as the key source of information accumulation as
these two are effective in leading a work in right manner to drawn valid and reliable results
(Meyers and Vallas, 2016). thus, for effective execution of primary and secondary research there
are different aspects like cost, access and ethical consideration which are needs to be obey by the
investigation, thus the appropriate description of the aspects are defined as below:
Cost: This defined to be the most important aspect for execution of an analysis as it is very much
important for the researcher to manage appropriate cost and capital for the purpose of conducting
research activities in systematic manner without making any delay in the execution of activities.
Thus, it is essential for the researcher to keep appropriate amount of funds and capital to assist
the work in right direction (Norbash and Kadom, 2020).
Access: Access is also termed to be the essential aspect which also needs to be recognised by the
researcher while conducting an analysis. Thus, researcher needs to make sure about the sources
from where information is mainly gathered. However, in an investigation information is gathered
through internal as well as external aspects, thus the internal sources are the employees,
customers, suppliers are the business and it is the primary requirement for the researcher to
ensure that information needs to be gathered through the valid sources. Therefore, researcher
needs to takes approval form the business to gather effective information. On the other side, for
gathering data from the external aspects like books, journals, articles and so on, the authenticity
needs to be analysed for involving information within the investigation (Phillips and et. al.,
2016).
Ethical consideration- There is certain ethical considerations that the researchers must take into
account in their actions. It makes work more trustworthy and authentic. This research collects
information from authentic, up-to - date sources. The main aspect of research into the collection
and transfer of information is confidentiality. For research purposes only the data obtained is
used. It makes work real and trustworthy.

P4) Appropriate analytical tool which analyse research findings and data.
This defined to be the most imperative area of an investigation, as in this present research
survey has been executed via the help of designing questionnaire which covers aim and objective
of the research (Richardson, 2014). Therefore, better analysis of the project based on the area of
determining the impact of gender equality in leadership and management, thematic analysis has
been applied as the key sources for generating appropriate results and outcome.

Task 4
P6) Reflect on the effectiveness of research tools that are applied for meeting objectives of the
business research project.
I am very much pleasant and happy to get a chance to execute an analysis over the area of
determining the impact of gender equality over the performance of a business, thus, this is a
wider area of academic writing, which provides me a wider knowledge base to implement
methodologies in a right direction to attain appropriate outcome. Thus, in this existing project,
quantitative and quantitative both the tools are applied to develop in-depth evaluation over the
investigation area. In addition to this from the evaluation of the project, I got to know that,
information has been gathered via two imperative sources like primary and secondary tools and
in the context of this present undertaking, both the tools are reliable in the manner of gathering
effective data. Therefore, I have been seen that, primary research is being executed via
developing survey in which questionnaire is being taken into consideration as the key source of
data collection. On the other side, secondary sources like books, journals, published articles are
effective in developing theoretical understating with the support of creating literature review. In
this positivism philosophy is being considered as the important aspect to gather information in
actual facts and figures via the opinion analysis of authors and writers. Furthermore, in this
deductive approach has been applied as it recognised as the key source of conducting qualitative
and quantitative research.
P7) Consider alternative research methodology and lesion learnt in the view of the outcome.
An investigation is mainly relay upon the selection of suitable methodologies, therefore,
appropriate methodological selection is required to guide the work in right direction to reaching
at suitable outcome. Therefore, in this present work primary investigation is being executed and
there are different sorts of executing primary research like interview, focus group, survey,
questionnaire, case study and many more, thus, in this questionnaire is being applied as the
effective source but interview can also be termed as the best alternative source of questionnaire
to gather primary information. Although, it is effective in providing detailed information that
supports the aim and objectives of the research, but it is quite time consuming in nature as it is
mainly based on a person around in which questions are asked by the respondents at individual
basis.
