Gender equality is explained as various behaviours, requirements and aspirations of men and
women are values, considered and also favoured equally. this does not mean that men and
women have to same but their responsibilities, rights and opportunities will not based on whether
they are born female or male (Fine, Sojo and LawfordSmith, 2020). Gender equality in
leadership and management is better for the business as this helps organisation in reduce the
gender gap. Sky UK is British telecommunications and Broadcaster Company that gives fixed

Literature Review
Gender equality in leadership and management
As per opinion of Rozita Dadras (2020) Gender equality is related to giving the equal
treatment to men and women both. When women reach the top, they face a challenge with nearly
a half of their workers regardless of their personality, abilities and attributes of leadership are not
men. This is also alleged that a large percentage of staff dislike working in a setting where,
resulting in poor leadership, the senior leader is a woman, but eligible (Post and Byron, 2015).
Organizations define standards for evaluating women's capacity and potential, and they include
2

equitable incentives in businesses to ensure that gender differences are reduced. For women
workers in management and leadership positions, the organization assigns less importance. They
assume that female workers are less able than male employees. Leadership and gender gap
awareness is both pervasive and widespread, but cannot be overcome. To overcome this
problem, managers have to build fair as well as flexible expectations of employees of women
and men, by developing a fair workplace culture.
Impact on gender equality in leadership and management in Sky UK
On the basis of Sigrid Olsson (2020) Gender equality develops the positive and negative
impact in leadership and management in Sky UK company. Treating the female employees as
equal to men helps in motivate them and providing those better job opportunities by giving their
better contribution (Marinova, Plantenga and Remery, 2016). The positive and negative impact
of gender equality in leadership and management given below:
Positive impact
As women in Sky UK increasingly take-up the leadership positions, prevailing the
leadership style of men and women continue to attract the attention. Many of the women are
appoint as the leaders and mangers position. Getting the more women in to the management and
leadership role is not about the changing. This is all about developing environment where the
women can be thrive. Equal opportunities can lead to a supportive atmosphere in Sky UK that
encourages and motivates all workers.
Negative impact
Women are criticized as frequently threatened or harassed, imprevisible, unsure, crazy,
moody, vain, and favoritist within peer groups. Gender issues arise in leadership and
management in an organisation. Gender bias makes this more difficult for women to be hired and
promoted and keeps them at work (Gupta, Goktan and Gunay, 2014). It is typically the result of
emotions that often influence women's leadership and management decisions in their respective
firms. In addition to this, women at workplace are not risk-takers who can adversely impact
companies because they often have to decide within an organisation.
Gender issues arise in leadership and management in an organisation
According to opinion of RincónDiez, González and Barrero,(2017), Gender equality can
result in a number of barriers to leadership in Sky UK. As women cannot make a big decision on
leadership at their respective companies because they make emotional decisions and this can also
