Topic: Incidence and effect of stress on young people.
1.1 Area of research project
The main area that I choose for the performance of this research project is concerned with
young people and their main issue of stress. Since young age is one of the most affective stage
that is being affected from high pressure of their career and their studies. This sometime create
stressful situation for them. Since stress itself brings many issues in the form of affecting
physical, emotional and mental health of an individual. So it is very essential that it should be
minimized and maintained to lead a healthy life. Also, stress is one of the big issue that has
negative and adverse impact over the life of an individual. So in this research my whole focus
will be on stress and its impact over the life of young people.
1.2 Research aim and objectives
Aim:
The aim of this project is to analyse the incidence and impact of stress on the life of young
people.
Objectives:
To study the incidence of stress on young people.
To analyse the impact of stress on the life of young people.
To recommend strategies for management of stress and its impacts on life of young people.
1.3 Ethical consideration that apply regarding the area of this research project
Ethical consideration is one of the major element of the research project. It is very essential that
ethical consideration should be kept in mind while performing research. As under this research I
include primary mode of data which requires a strong consideration towards the compliance of
ethics. As ethics are import part of research, so I tried to keep every possible aspect including
respect, fairness, mutual respect and various others regarding the following of ethics. For
implementing compliance with ethical consideration I take care that while collecting data the
personal space of individual will not hurt and affected. Likewise, following of ethics also raise
the accountability of the research for the general public (Wilson, Kenny and Dickson-Swift,
2018). Similarly, a strong compliance of ethics while performing research will help the research
to promote its aims. Thus, during this whole research I tried to adopt every possible step in order
to restore ethics in research.

1.4 Literature review
Incidence of stress among young people
According to Russell and Lightman (2019), stress is a type of tension that affect physical
and mental health of an individual. It is one of the major issue that has direct impact over an
individual. There are different types of stress including physical stress, psychological stress,
psychosocial and psychospiritual stress. It is one of the major problem among almost all the
individual. About 74% of people are having an issue of stress. However, the variation of
percentage is also depends upon age difference. This means that in comparison of young age
group and old age people, it is most common among young generation.
Out of 100, 36% of adult is having an issue of stress due to health as a condition factor.
Whereas 22% of people got stress due to debt. The level of stress is fully categorized on the basis
of age group also. This means that 60% level of stress is usually occurs between the people of
age group of 18-24, while its percentage is 41 for the age people of age group of 25-34.
Similarly, the percentage of stress is 5 in case of those who are above the age of 55 (Mental
health statistics: stress, 2018). This means that in young generation the percentage of stress is
high in comparison of old one.
Impact of stress on young people
As per the views of Yaribeygi (2017), stress has major and adverse impact over the health of
young people. It leads to the generation of many big diseases among people including high blood
pressure, anxiety, heart issues, obesity and various others. In addition, of these the mental health
of young people also got affected due to stress which leads to creation of tension, depression,
changing behaviour, raising the level of anger and many more.
On the other hand Choi (2020) elucidates that apart from health the normal life of young people
also got adversely affected due to stress. This includes affection over the regular activities,
sleeping issues, eating changes, getting often sickness and many others. This means that the
impact of stress over the young age is negative and adverse.
Strategies for the management of stress
Crum, Jamieson and Akinola (2020) states that management of stress is very important for
leading a healthy life. Adoption of regular exercise practice, implementation of healthy diet,

reduction of caffeine, avoidation of consumption of alcohol and various other are some methods
by which stress can be managed and reduced.
In the same way Kassymova (2018) illuminates that apart from adoption of healthy habits,
implementation of habit regarding meditation is also an important way by which stress can be
managed and mitigated. Meditation not only helps an individual and young people to reduce
stress but at the same time it also gives peace of mind.
2.1 Types of research
Research:
It is a systematic mode of inquiry which includes collection of data, collecting relevant
material, analysis and interpretation of data and lastly drawing conclusions. It helps in finding
the new things that are not known along with helps in filling the gap with knowledge.
Types of research:
There are generally two types of research:
Qualitative research:
This is just opposite of quantitative research. Under this research no numerical data is
being used and collected. Instead of this, themes and reviews of the author are being included
under this mode. It includes explanation in the form of words along with a following of process
of summarizing, categorizing, and interpreting.
Quantitative research:
It refers to finding and collecting numerical data. This research includes use of facts and
figures. It is generally used to draw statistical interferences. It is generally explained in the form
of number, graphs along with statistical analysis of data (Rutberg and Bouikidis, 2018).
For the current research I use a combination of qualitative as well as quantitative mode of
research in order to have a better justification that stress has a severe impact over the health of
young people.
2.2 Method of data collection
Data collection:
Document Page
It refers to a process of collecting the data regarding the issue. In addition of collecting, it also
includes analysing and interpretation of idea. It is a significance mode that shows the authenticity
of the research.
There are two sources by which data is being collected:
Primary source:
It refers to data which is being collected for the first time. Under this method the data is
being collected directly from the source of information. This includes collection of data by the
mode of interviews, surveys, experiments and various other. Since it is being collected from the
main source, so this data is more reliable and authentic.
Secondary source:
It refers to collecting data which is being collected ever before other than primary user.
This data is concerned with the information that is being available over the website of the
government or the magazines or organizational records (Johnston, 2017).
For the current research I use primary as well as secondary data. The reason behind
choosing both mode of data is to give more authenticity and reliability to my research.
2.3 Tools for analysing data
For analysing data thematic analysis is being used. It is one of the best method of
analysing qualitative data. For the execution of this analysis themes are being made over the
collected data. It is usually applied to a set of questions which is being asked in interviews.
Under this technique separate themes are being made over every single question (Swain, 2018).
The reason behind the choosing of thematic analysis is to have more justification of the collected
data. For the current research I also use thematic analysis technique while collecting data.
2.4 Importance of validity and reliability of data
It is very essential that the data which is being used in the research must be reliable and valid.
The reason behind ensuring validity and reliability is to make the research more authentic. Since,
data is an important part of every research and if it is not true and not reliable then it has direct
impact over the reliableness of the research. Thus, while performing this research I laid down my
more focus towards maintaining the reliability and validity of data. For that I collected the data
from primary sources which includes my personal interaction with the issue and the concern.

3.3 Research method for the project
Research type:
With regard to this research I will use qualitative mode of data.
Research approach:
In order to make the qualitative study more justified I will use inductive approach.
Research philosophy:
In order to conduct this research I will use interpretivism philosophy.
Data collection:
For pursuing this research I will collect data from both the sources of data that includes
primary and secondary.
Sampling:
In order to evaluate the effect and incidence of stress I will choose a sample of 30 young
age people whose age would be around 18-24 years.
Data analysis:
In order to analyse the collected data I will use thematic technique of data analysis.
Document Page
Reliability and validity:
In order tom make my research justified I will refer and consider only those sources
which would be reliable and authentic.
Ethical consideration:
I will ensure that while performing my research I will take all appropriate steps in order
to restore ethical consideration concept.
3.4 Research questions
What are the incidence of stress on young people?
What are the impacts of stress on the life of young people?
3.5 Research using identified research methods
Research type:
It refers to the type of research. There are generally two types: quantitative and
qualitative. For the current research Qualitative mode is being implemented where non-
numerical data is gathered and the detailed analysis is performed (Miles, Huberman and SaldaƱa,
2018).
Research approach:
In order to evaluate the incidence and effect of stress on the life of young age people
inductive approach is implemented. This approach makes the qualitative study more justified and
meaningful (Danaee Fard, 2020).
Research philosophy:
It refers to the belief of the researcher. There are two types of philosophies namely
interpretivisn and positivism. For the current research, interpretivism philosophy is being used in
order to have a better interpretation and justification of collected qualitative data.
Data collection:
It refers to collection of data. There are basically two types of data: primary and
secondary. Primary refers to first hand and initially collected data while the secondary refers to
that data which is already being collected. For this research I implement both the form of data
(Johnston, 2017).

Sampling:
It refers to a group of people which has characteristics of the entire group (Sharma,
2017). For the current research I took a sample of 30 young age people falling in the age group
of 18-24 years.
Data analysis:
It includes analysis of the data. In thematic perception different themes are being made
and its interpretation is being executed (Terry and et.al., 2017). So, for conducting this research I
use thematic mode.
Reliability and validity:
In order to make my research I use only authentic books and journals. Along with that the
source of data that I collected is all referring from valid and reliable sources.
Ethical consideration:
In order to make my research ethically considerable, before taking any information I take
care about this concept that the values and privacy will not affect and hurt.
