CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Overview of research
Globalization arises an activity to become globally and exchange goods and services in
larger market. Financial services globalization means financial institutions work together or
collaborate with another company to provide services to their customers. The concept of
globalisation is able to enhance the manufacture of valuable product and services that are needed
by the customer in the present time (Bennett, James and Klinkers, 2017). In preset time with the
increasing pace of technology companies are able to globalise their product and services at larger
number of audience that have resulted into growth and development of whole economy.
Innovation has enabled companies around the world resolve the challenges of globalization and
global trade like transport costs, lack of understanding, professional ethics.
Background of research
Morrisons was established in 1899 by William Morrison as a egg and butter stall. In 2016
it become the fourth largest supermarket chain by opening around 498 superstore all across UK
most probably in England, Wales and Scotland. In present year the total number of employees
working in company are 110000 that almost provide extrema high level satisfactory services ti
around 11 M customer in every week (About Morrisons, 2019). The company in previous
financial year was able to generate revenue of around 17262 M GBP with total operation income
was 458 M GBP and Net income of around 311 M GBP. There are number of items that are
provided by Morrison that support customer to fulfil their daily necessities such as food and
drinks, clothing, books, luxury items etc. The total market share hold by Morrison in 2018 is
10.14% which is less than other supermarket such as ASDA, Sainsbury and Tesco.
With the increasing growth and development in technology and Artificial intelligence
Morrison is able to generate new ways and methods which would be beneficial to expand
business outside UK. Thus, it has been stated that new techniques and AI have support business
entity in entire world to gain success and is consider to be the main driving factors as it support
to attain the desired results in appropriate time frame (Kirton, 2017). Investment in technology
facilities for employees to get familiar with new ways of handling customer at different countries

has helped company to gain the desired expansion and popularity in entire world. Spending on
technologies to improve supply chain processes during the first half of the year had a big
influence on the outcome of the store operating in many region of UK. The overall
implementation of advance and high tech-based environment would be supportive for expansing
of superstore all across the globe.
Rational of the Research
The research project is primarily related to the impact of advance and new technology is
valuable for expanding and promoting business at global level (Lassou and Soobaroyen, 2017).
Rational analysis is connected to essential conditions that are valuable grounds for reducing
some form of failure in literature. This also support in developing approaches and responses to
practical problems that arise when performing research work on a subsequent topic. It is
acknowledged that somehow the primary aim of conducting any research for any subject is to
establish the information relevant to that particular topic, enhance the experience and ability that
will definitely help in better achievement of goals and objectives. As there are different methods
and advance technological improvement by Morrisons has give a new enhancement in
profitability and market share.
Research Aim
In research work the main aim is needed to be clear and cosine so that results are can be
formulated in better manner accordingly to the defined aim. In the respective research the aim in
to assess the impact of improved technological factors that benefits in expansion of business at
global level (Bruce and Ahmed, 2016). In this research work the aim is “To examine how
technology is used in the promotion of business globalisation- A study on Morrisons.”
Objective
To analyse the impact of technology on globalisation.
To investigate the significance of technology in globalisation.
To examine the challenges involved in promoting global business through technology. To suggest the ways by which organisation can implement technology for promoting
business globally.
