CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Introduction
Literature review refers to comprehensive summary of the previous investigation on
specific subject area. This is associated to academic paper which includes current knowledge
including theoretical contribution as well as substantive findings to specific field of study
(Bharadwaj, Dahl and Sheth, 2014). Within this section, information is collected by the use of
secondary sources such as books, documents, web sites, journals and others. Gathering
information from secondary sources is quick and cost effective.

Impact of gender discrimination of performance of employees in ALDI
According to opinion of PAUL TREVINO (2018) Gender discrimination takes several
forms and it is a difference in earnings among women and men doing similar work type. It
mainly impacts the employee’s performance in ALDI Company but also impact economic
performance level of company. It is illegal and discrimination on gender basis has reaching
implications for female staff members along with male colleagues. In context to this, victims of
the gender discrimination experience the harassment that can enhance anxiety and depression.
On the other hand, unfair treatment enhances the stress level that leads to the more chances of the
physical illness. It causes the staff members to enhance abseentism due to health issues. From
this, staffs members do not work in a better manner and neglect to work that result in reduce the
organisational goals (Bruce and et. al., 2015). The enhance health issues of employees can
enhance health care claims and this can lead to the insurance cost for management. Other than
this, gender basis discrimination exist at workplace, culture of ALDI can be minimum attentive
to the complexities arise about gender harassment. The people those face gender inequality are
minimum likely to be come forward with the issues that reduce the employees productivity. At
workplace, management treat the female employees less favourable as compare to male
employees. They think that male is more capable and responsible for performing any activities
and tasks. This reduces the morale of female staff members and they are not retaining at
workplace for long time period. This kind of issues develops negative impact on the
organisational productivity.
Various ways ALDI should adopt to prevent workplace from gender discrimination
On the basis of Jess Fuhl (2020) preventing the workplace discrimination from the gender
bias is necessary for enhancing the employee performance in also searching them for long period
of time at workplace. There are some of the effective ways ALDI Company should be adopted to
remove the gender discrimination at preventing the workplace discrimination from the gender
bias. It is necessary for enhancing the employee performance and also sustaining them for long
period of time at workplace. There are some of the effective ways and company should be
adopted to remove the gender discrimination from workplace:
Be transparent- It is law for all the organisations who was certain size in United
Kingdom. ALDI Company should have clear action Plan on steps which it is taking as to close
gender pay gap with the clear milestones and targets. It is necessary for this organisation to
forms and it is a difference in earnings among women and men doing similar work type. It

CHAPTER 3: METHODOLOGY
3.1 Research Approaches
It is considered as an important plan and procedures that can be used for collect, analysis
and interpretation data with the aim of determining the actual results of research project. In this
researcher is responsible for analyzing the nature of the research in order to address the particular
issues and problem on which current study is undertaken. It is classified into two approaches
such as inductive and deductive. For undertaking this research, investigator will use deductive
research approach that help in gathering quantitative information that is valid and reliable in
nature.
3.2 Methodologies
1) Sampling
It is a process of choosing sample size from large number of populations with the aim of
collecting relevant data and information. It is based on two techniques such as probabilistic and
non-probabilistic. Under this research, investigator will use probabilistic sampling technique in
which all the selected respondents get equal chances to be selected. By this, researcher selected
30 respondents that help in gathering reliable information.
2) Data analysis
This refers to the analysis and simulation of data in order to identify relevant data and facilitate
decision-making. A researcher must evaluate data and knowledge for project or study progress.
Data analysis highlights the importance of analysing evidence by using both statistical and
analytical methods to identify credible information in the decision-making process. In order to
analyse the data, thematic analysis and interpretation has been made (Lucifora and Vigani,
2016).
3) Cost, access and ethical considerations
Under present research, Ethics is the key field that needs to be addressed during the successful
execution of any research activities. Ethics is defined as standards, concepts, beliefs and morals
that must be followed when the investigation related activities are included. This is important to
keep respondents ' data and details confidential, in order to establish proper trust. Other than this,
the researcher is responsible for collecting resources so all research tasks can be done and correct

results obtained. This is important that the sources should be confidential and reliable for
collecting information and data. Investigator is responsible for carrying out research work
according to the standards and principles that have been developed (Malos, 2015).
CHAPTER 4: DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
4.1 Data collection
It is related to gathering of data by using different sources. Data collection is defined as
accurate information collection and interpretation by the use of appropriate techniques. Through
this, investigator will look at hypothesis based on the knowledge and data obtained. Different
methods of data collection given below:
Primary method- Researcher collects fresh knowledge and it is authentic in nature. The
key knowledge collecting methods are questionnaires, focus groups, findings etc. A
questionnaire has been used in the present research to gather accurate information on a specific
subject (Offermann and et. al., 2014).
Secondary method- Data and Information were already collected by somebody.
Resources for gathering secondary data are papers, journals, internet sources and others. This is
mainly used to analyze the literature by examining various authors ' views on a particular area
(Sia, Sahoo and Duari, 2015).

and other has to be considered by company itself. Despite of this, implementation of these laws
is important because in paper most of the organization have these rules and regulations but at
ground level, they are not even following it.
In relation with ALDI, they can introduce activities like performance appraisal approach
so that diversity and equality can be managed. This will also assist them in analyzing which
employee is performing better. Entire process should be transparent in nature so that no manager
can manipulate things and provide benefits to their favorite ones. In context with ALDI, as it is a
multinational company majority of employees are males therefore, pay gap as a discrimination
can be seen. Females are paid less as compared to male workers thus, to reduce this kind of
gender discrimination organization must make proper laws and communicate them in an
effective manner. They should have a different panel who can look after the pay scale,
performance of an individual and review them before finalizing it. As a result, it will help in
minimizing the errors of giving salaries according to favoritism.
Gender discrimination can lead to demotivate female employees as a result performance
and desired objectives of company cannot be fulfilled. Therefore, to deal with this issue ALDI,
must make strong anti-discrimination policies where encouragement of these kinds of activities
can be avoided. People should learn to respect each other whether male or female.
Other than this, to provide equal opportunities to all its employees ALDI, should provide
proper training and vocational guidance. Along with this, workers should have the choice of
choosing which field they want to get trained. Despite of this, ALDI must consider should
consider nature and impact of events so that it cannot have an impact on their business and
growth.
CHAPTER 6: PERSONAL REFLECTIVE STATEMENT
6.1 Reflect on research methods used in project

which is faced by every organization whether small, medium or large. This project has provided
me knowledge like how on the basis of gender some of the organization have uneven salaries.
This research was conducted on one of the renowned companies ALDI, whether they
discriminate between employees. I thought asking employees about this will be relevant as they
ground level, they are not even following it.
