“Current effects of tourism in the development of the rural area in the UK” - Case of
study Denbies Wine Estate Hotel.
INTRODUCTION
Tourism is known as one of the largest and fastest growing industry in the worldwide. In
both developed and developing countries, the aspect of tourism is frequently supposed to be a
main source for raising the economic activity of different geographical regions. As per the
current scenario of tourism sector, it has been identified that there is wide optimism for rural
tourism. This is because, rural tourism is being utilised as core development tactics to enrich
social or economic living standard of society. Hence, the concept of rural tourism is country
experience that comprises a large number of attraction and activities which take place in
agricultural or non-urban areas (Gössling and Lane, 2015). The core benefit which rural tourism
is that it improving the overall performance of rural economies in terms of employment
generation, utilising available opportunity, contribution towards funding conservation and so on.
In this report, Denbies Wine Estate Hotel has been considered as it is the largest vineyard within
England. In this research proposal, it involves aim, objective, question, rationale, review of
literature. Finally, utilisation of various research methodology for achieving the desired intent in
a prescribed time duration.
Background of the study
In relation to this research report, Denbies Wine Estate Hotel has been regraded as it
famous and well known for being largest vineyard in England. This vineyard is located in 265
acres (1.07 km2) under vines and also it has an attractive visitor centre which invites around
3,00,000 visitors per year. Along with this, its 65% of vine are bring sold at visitor centre and
also they make use of supermarket, wholesalers and via mail order in a best quality. Today's
tourism marketplace is increasingly imposing huge contribution for the enhancement of
economic status in both the areas i.e. rural and urban (Almstedt, Lundmark and Pettersson,
2016). However, it is been analysed that enrichment of rural areas is an important factor as it
help local economy to improve their overall economic status and also can improve the well being
of community or society in an improved way.

The aim of this research is “To explore the idea of current effect of tourism in the
development of rural area in UK” - Case Study on Denbies Wine Estate Hotel

To examine the challenges which tourism sector face while enhancing the rural area of
UK.

Rationale of the study
The foremost reason behind choosing this area is to evaluate the impact of tourism sector
in the development of rural areas. This is because, tourism industry is viewed as one of the main
element which boost the status of economy, generate increased level of employment, enriches
business performance and many more. Therefore, the idea of enhancing the rural area enable
tourism industry to exploit the available opportunities in order to gain competitive advantage and
also to shaping the society in an impressive manner (Heller, Pujolar and Duchêne, 2014). Apart
from this, by conducting this study, researcher is able to obtain in depth knowledge about several
kinds of research methodology that lead them to develop a valid and authentic report in
stipulated time limit.
LITERATURE REVIEW
To understand the significance of tourism in rural area.
According to Barsan Mircea, 2015, The aspect of rural tourism plays a significant role in
the enhancement of living standard of community or society. The term rural tourism is defined as
the initiation and intention to render improved level of benefit to the local community
economically and socially. Hence, it impact positively and negatively over rural communities. In
addition to this, there are various reasons for taking effort in regard of improving the tourism in
rural area like integral source for tax revenue n local jurisdiction. Along with this, it promotes
and strengthen the usage of local food products, offer enormous business platforms for rural
residents, create job opportunities and so on. Henceforth, it has been analysed that the
