This research proposal aims to identify the results of sustainability over supply chain management in the pandemic situation of COVID-19, focusing on The Queens park hotel. The study will analyze the basic framework of supply chain management in the hospitality industry, examine the influence of sustainability on supply chain management, and ascertain the issues faced by the hotel during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research will use a deductive approach and both primary and secondary data collection methods.

The primal reason of selecting this topic is to get depth study regarding supply chain
management within hospitality industry so that aspects can be analysed which is influencing
sustainability of hospitality industry. In the context of hospitality industry this is imperative that
by seeing current trends sustainability is one of the major need which is adopted by businesses
so that to acquire high range customers and to acquire their attention as well. By conducting this
research, researcher may have in-depth knowledge regarding various elements of supply chain
management and its inclination towards attaining sustainability. On the other and dual
perspective are existed within this research which is professional and personal. In this respect in
terms of professional aspect this research will be helpful in dealing with various researches in
future time with high edge prominence. Besides this in respect of personal aspect this research
will be advantageous for researcher in developing differentiated skills such research skills,
communication skills and many more.

Basic framework of supply chain management within hospitality industry
According to Hong, Zhang and Ding (2018) supply chain within hospitality industry is
associated with flow of goods and services to customers through using various resources. In
current dynamic environment value of customers are increasing in regular manner and this is the
major reason that hospitality industry is totally engaged in understanding needs of their
customers. There are five major components of supply chain existed within industry of
hospitality and they are named as plan, sources, make, deliver and return. In this manner supply
chain is totally focused over managing various activities of supply chain so that sustainable
competitive advantage can be attained by the organisation.
Influence of sustainability within supply chain management of Queens park hotel during
situation of COVID-19.
According to Chams and García-Blandón (2019) due to impact of COVID-19 supply
chain of hospitality industry has seen bad days as this is the industry which has faced the
highest adverse time. Sustainability is defined as one of the most emerging concept within
industry of hospitality as in current time people are highly inclined over sustainable tourism. In
this manner sustainability is the major aspect in which hospitality industry is dealing with such
situations which are necessary for them to align with market needs. The department of
operations is the primal department in which impact of sustainability is seen as this will be

easier for that department to manage business functions in more significant manner.
Issues faced by Queens park hotel in supply chain management during COVID-19.
According to Kim, Barber and Kim (2019) during the time of COVID-19 various issues
were faced by hospitality industry in relation to managing their supply chain in effective
manner. Interference of government has increased due to COVID Pandemic and this is the
major reason that issues are faced by hospitality industry. On the other hand as due to COVID
outbreak contingencies plans were required to be prepared so this has given various
complications to the industry. On the other hand as sanitisation was the major issue during
COVID so this has increased the overall cost for hotels and in this manner various complexities
were faced by hotels in order to manage their supply chain during COVID outbreak.

Research methodology is subjected to using such tools and techniques which can be used by
researcher in order to execute research process in appropriate manner. By using research
methodologies aims and objectives existed within research can be attained in significant
manner. Under this researcher is using research onion framework so that to cover all areas of
research and to align goals with research efforts as well. For this research onion approach is
elaborated as under:
 Research philosophies: This is regarded as using some convictions within research so
that researcher get prominent assistance for analysing gathered information in
appropriate time. There are two types of research philosophies existed such as
positivism and interpretivism (Kaur, Singh and Singh, 2019). Interpretivism philosophy
is helpful in analysing qualitative data whereas positivism philosophy is useful in
developing quantitative information. Under this research positivism philosophy is used
as data is collected through quantitative methods. This research philosophy will help
researcher to align research objectives in clear manner
 Research Approaches: This is defined as the action plan which can be used by
researcher for completing their work with higher effectiveness. There are two types of
research approaches named inductive and deductive. In deductive approach quantitative
data is being analysed whereas in inductive approach qualitative data can be analysed. In
this research deductive approach will be used as in this research quantitative data will be
used. Deductive approach is helpful in analysing numeric information so that to
conclude research findings in significant manner.
 Research strategies: This is categorised as the method which can be used so that overall
research can be completed in impactful manner. Using appropriate research strategies
aims and objective within research can be attained in appropriate manner. Research
strategy include observation, questionnaire and survey so by using this research
objectives can be aligned. Within this research questionnaire method will be used so that

to obtain perception of various respondents.
 Research Choice: This is described as the method in which information will be
collected by researcher in order to execute research in significant manner. Research
choice is playing significant role for researcher in managing the whole research with
higher efficacies. There are two research choices existed such as qualitative and
quantitative. In this research quantitative research choice will be used in order to obtain
reliable and impactful information. This will aid the researcher to gather information
related to research topic in such a way that objectives of research can be attained.
 Time horizon: This can be classified as the time limit which is given to complete the
whole research in significant time in order to provide efficacies within research. There
are two types of time horizon such as cross-sectional and longitudinal. Under this
research, researcher will use cross-sectional time horizon. This will be helpful for
researcher to develop their research plan as according to given time frame.
 Data collection: This is defined as the method or manner in which researcher will gather
data associated to research topic. There are two methods of data collection which can be
used by researcher in order to gather data such as primary sources of data collection and
secondary sources of data collection. In primary sources of data collection questionnaire,
interviews are included whereas in secondary sources books, journals and internet is
taken. In this research, the researcher is gathering data by using both the methods of data
collection such as primary and secondary (Peters and Kallmuenzer, 2018). In primary
sources questionnaire will be used by researcher whereas in terms of secondary sources
books and journals and articles will be used
 Sampling: This is defined as the method in which required part of respondents will be
selected out of whole population. This is known as the most significant process within
research as this enable researcher to perform their research in appropriate manner. There
are two types of methods within sampling such as probabilistic sampling and non-
probabilistic sampling. Under this research the researcher will use probabilistic sampling
method in order to execute research in appropriate manner. Under the research sample
size are taken as 30 and these are employees of Queens park hotel.
