INTRODUCTION
The information technology refers to use of computers and telecommunications in order
to store, retrieve, process and transform specific data appropriately. It include different computer
systems, applications, machines, software and equipments which are suitable for conducting
various task easily by gaining better outcomes (Almajali, Masa'deh and Tarhini, 2016).
However, information technology is basically facilitate to transmittal of information or system
which facilitate communication. Moreover, it is beneficial in various business sectors including
healthcare in terms of improving accuracy of information and patient outcomes. The present
investigation is based in impacts of information technology in healthcare sector by analysing its
actual requirements and benefits. It will also include description about concept of information
technology to make proper results of research.

Concept of Information Technology
The information technology refers to many different areas which include software
solutions & hardware that facilitate to organise, gather and evaluate desired information.
However, it consist different types of machines and applications which provide support to

establish more effective as well as efficient documentations of data in proper manner. In addition
to this, there are several systems and software which are favourable for healthcare sector in order
to maintain medical records of patients accurately because they very important for future
purposes. As per opinion of Warner and Sullivan (2017), previous information is suitable to
make decision about medication when an individual become unconscious to make them healthy.
In addition to this, information technology can be implemented in settings of healthcare
organisations as it facilitate to reduce chance of occurring drug errors and improve patient
outcomes. Furthermore, IT improve communication among medical professionals which
facilitate to reduce chance of confusions and save their time so that they can attend each patient
on time in proper way. At the other hand, it basically involve utilisation of computers, storage,
networking and infrastructure to produce process, manipulate, store, secure and share electronic
data in healthcare sector.
Need of Information technology in healthcare sector
In present era, life is very fast and advanced so that it is required to adopt desired
information technology in every sector of business for increasing their regular productivity as
well as profitability. However, it involve to adopt different effective software, application and
computer system which facilitate to improve efficiency of staff members and medication
outcomes in hospitals. According to views of Leila Vali (2015), there are several problem which
can be sort out with the help of technological system implementation. Meanwhile, it include
issue of shortage of staff, lack of proper communication, coordination among professionals and
maintenance of data related to patients. In addition to this, it is required to utilise hardware tools
including tablets, laptops, mobile phones etc. in order to improve interaction between care
provider and sick individual. Meanwhile, information technology is needed to reduce problem of
long queues in hospital for health problem which are responsible for creating critical situation of
patient due to not getting immediate medication. At the other hand, it is necessary to remove
maximum visits of people in clinics or hospitals to physicians regarding diabetes or obesity by
increasing their communication online through telehealth. Furthermore, it include to adopt
appropriate technologies in respect of improving outcomes of medical facilities.
Benefits of information technology in healthcare sector
The information technology provide various benefits in different aspect in healthcare
sector. It include the utilisation of different technological software, systems and application to

store, process, retrieve and transfer information for specific purpose. Many times, it is observed
that shortage of staff create problem for management of overall work in terms of attending every
patients to provide correct medication. Greater work load is responsible for generating risk of
occurring medication mistakes which can be sort out by using appropriate technological
applications or system in proper manner. As per opinion given by BIANCA BANOVA (2015),
there are different benefits which can be achieved with the help of information technology such
as availability of information & big data, improved public health, enhanced patient care, ease of
workflow, mobility & mobile apps, telemedicine/telehealth, electronic medical records and
improved communication. The IT is helpful for healthcare in terms of establishing patient portal
which is favourable for both care provider and service user because they can communicate on
that regarding maintenance of health situation of an individual. People suffering from diabetes
and blood pressure and other disease can avoid to visit their physicians on regular basis and they
can get directions online with the help of telehealth and care providers can update new
prescription on patient portal respectively. Nursing staff become more efficient and improve
their skill for attaining perfection in their work and reduce risks of drug errors as well.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY(400)
Types of research
The investigator is required to select type of research method by which proper
investigation can be conducted as per selected issue. It research can be classified into qualitative
and quantitative method in which suitable is required to chosen by researcher in correct way.
However, qualitative research refers to focus on deep understanding thoughts, opinions, trends
and experiences for gaining desired results (Cervero-Liceras, McKee and Legido-Quigley,
2015). In contrary to this, quantitative research can be described as to analyse facts, figures,
values and statistical data to make accurate conclusions accordingly. The present investigation
will going to prefer qualitative research in order to evaluate about given problem of overall
program.
Data collection method
The data collect can be explained as to use various types of sources to collect required
information with help of utilising primary and secondary resources. However, primary data
refers to first hand data which can be done by carrying out personal interviews, surveys,

observation and questionnaire (Weber, Diaz and Schwegler, 2014). In contrary to this, secondary
data can be considere as second hand information which is collected with the help of books,
journals, articles, websites and many more. The present research will focus on primary sources
for collecting required information about information technology for further evaluation to make
appropriate results.
Sampling
The sampling refers to method to select group of suitable individual from particular
population to conduct research in proper manner. The given investigation is based on random
sampling method with sample of 30 respondents respectively to given interpretation about
findings of research.
Data analysis
The data analysis can be described as a procedure which include inspecting,
transforming, cleaning and modelling of collected information. It is necessary to analyse
gathered data thoroughly in order to investigate about particular problem for making accurate
results of research. However, it involve to evaluate the collected information which facilitate to
give interpretation regarding findings of whole investigation in correct way (Fanning and
Centers, 2016). Moreover, desired data should be gathered with the help of using primary and
secondary sources like articles, journals, articles, websites, interviews, surveys etc. The given
investigation is based on analysis of findings and provide an interpretation with discussion to
make accurate conclusions.
Ethical considerations
The ethical rules and norms are required to followed by investigator in proper manner as
the forthcoming results may applied in practical life and wrong interpretation may impact
negatively on future. It include to follow proper time and spend desired cost by following overall
ethical criterion in proper way. However, it is required to take legal permission from particular
entity before using related information and maintain confidentiality of private data appropriately.
DISCUSSION ON DATA
Considering the above information, it has been analysed that information technology is
necessary for healthcare sector as it impacts positively regarding various aspects which are
beneficial for patients as well as organisation. However, it is founded that healthcare institutions

are required to apply desired technological system and applications in terms of increasing
efficiency of staff members and reduce chance of occurring drug errors. It is evaluated that IT is
helpful to gain various benefits such as maintenance of data, improve decision making of
medication, enhance public health and facilitate self management of several disease by people.

REFLECTION
From the above investigation, it have experienced actual importance of IT in healthcare
sector in order to improve patient outcomes appropriately. My research teach me about
significant benefits of IT and it is essential to consider technological systems in hospitals.
Moreover, I have analysed the importance of information technology regarding self management
of certain health problems by people. I have few of problems while conducting this investigation
while taking views of people as they are not able to answer me properly.
