INTRODUCTION
Cultural diversity is defined as an element, where both new as well as existing staff
members working together without undertaken factors such as age, religion and so on. It is
important for an organization to implement cultural and diversity practices as it help in
eliminating workplace discrimination and provide positive working environment to employees. It
also aid in motivating employees and retain them for longer period. For the present research,
Tesco is taken into consideration. The company specialize in offering quality groceries and home
essential in market. The company offer product in more than 18 countries and have around
4,50,000 employees. The report is based on the concept of equality and diversity practices that
help in eliminating workplace discrimination. In addition to this, research methodology and data
collection methods is described that help an investigator to collect information and draw a
positive and valid conclusion.

Concept and importance of workplace discrimination

As per the opinion of…. it has been identified that equality refers to the state where
individuals get equivalent opportunities at the competitive marketplace. It plays very important
role as it encourages staff members and enhance their working for attaining their organizational
goals and objectives in an effective manner. Diversity and equality brings innovation as well as
creativity within the business organization. The main aim behind adopting equality and diversity
practices is to provide them opportunity to the individuals which helps in eliminating the
turnover ratio of the company. Equality as well as diversity help in maintaining positive
relationship and working environment at the workplace which aid management team in order to
retain their staff members for a longer period of time. In addition to this, significance of equality
and diversity practices creates confidence level as well as efficiency of the company. This will
assist them in improving their productivity and profitability in a positive manner and attain
organizational goals and objectives within limited time period. Furthermore, by creating equality
and diversity among the workplace goodwill and reputation of the organization increases at the
marketplace.

workplace in an effective manner. Some of the most essential practices which are linked with

help in developing positive working environment at workplace. Practices related to equality and
diversity includes training and development session as it assist in providing training to the
employees related to equality. Effective training session assist them in order to enhance their
knowledge and understanding related to the situation which leads towards the enhancement of
their overall personality. Apart from this, by allowing individuals to participate in the decision
making process of the company helps in creating equality at the workplace. By involving staff
members and knowing their views and opinions regarding some topics can increase their
motivation level which increases their overall performance in a positive manner. Apart from this,
it has also been analysed that by implementing all these strategies within the organization can
enhance the efficiency of employees which as a result aid them in accomplishing their
organizational goals and objectives effectively.

Benefits of equality and diversity practices gain by management team
On the basis of……it has been concluded that there are different benefits gain by
companies while implementing equality and diversity practices at the workplace. One of the
biggest advantage is that it assist higher authorities to retain their potential staff members for a
longer period of time. Along with this, it also help them in improving their revenue and
profitability at the competitive marketplace as their staff members produce high quality products
and services due to positive working environment. In addition to this, it has also been identified
that by implementing such strategies and practices at the workplace employee turnover ratio will
be reduced which creates goodwill and reputation of the company at the competitive market.
Implementing equality and diversity practices also help in motivating and encouraging staff
members so that they can enhance their efficiency and effectiveness at the workplace and creates
high quality service. Therefore, it has been concluded that executing such practices leads
towards the enhancement of goals and objectives of the company within stipulated time frame.
Research methodology
Every research requires some resources and tools with the help of which they can gather
data and information for completing the whole research in an appropriate manner. Some of the
most essential methods used by researcher are going to be discussed as follows in a detail
manner:
Qualitative Method: It define as a technique which assist in gathering all the non-
numerical data so that the whole research will be conducted in an appropriate manner. It has also
been identified that all the information which is gathered by the researcher are in high quality
and can easily be used to draw valid and authentic conclusion. Furthermore, it is said that
information gathered in the form if descriptive manner under qualitative research and can
interpret by the investigator in an effective manner.
Quantitative: It refers to the methodology adopted by investigator for collecting
numerical, statistical and mathematical data for completing the research in a positive manner.
For this, researcher use questionnaires as well as survey methods for gathering all the
information in a numerical methods.

With the assistance of above analysis, it has been concluded that quantitative method is
adopted by the investigator which assist in collecting all the numerical data which are authentic
as well as accurate.
Primary: With the help of this all the information which are being gathered by the
researcher are fresh and raw which is mainly gathered for a particular topic. For this,
investigator adopt different methods which includes observation, interview, questionnaires,
survey, online polls and many more. This will assist researchers in order to gather authentic and
accurate information related to the specific topic. But on the other hand, it has also been
identified that it is one of the time consuming and lengthy process which requires lot of efforts
and cost.
Secondary: This is a method which helps in gathering all the data and information which
includes different sources such as online websites, internet, newspaper, magazines, books,
journals and many more. This method is cost effective and aid researcher to gather information
related to the topic which are already available at the environment.
In reference to the present research, both primary and secondary method for gathering
valid information are used by researcher. In case of primary method, questionnaire is used by
investigator whereas analysis of different literature are used in context of secondary method.
Ethical issues: It is analyzed that every researcher face some of the ethical issues while
conducting research in a systematic and effective manner. It is given below: Informed consent: It is consider as the major problem which arise while conducting
investigation. As per this issue, the data gathered from the participants is not used for any
other study or by any other researcher. The researcher needs to give an informed consent
to the participants associated with the specific information.
 Confidentiality and Anonymity: It is significant for the researcher to ensure participants
that their information is keep confidential. In addition to this, there should be reliable as
well as authentic sources for collecting valid information which are associated with aims
& objectives of particular research.

 Cost consideration: It is important for researcher to make optimum use of financial
resources provided to them in conducting the whole research. This assist investigator to
implement all the activities within the given budget in an effective manner.
Sampling: It includes two methods probability and non-probability sampling in order to
chose respondents from the whole population. In reference to the present investigation, random
sampling method is adopted by investigator where 30 respondents are selected to gather
information. This will assist them in order to draw valid outcome of the research in an
appropriate manner.

implementing equality and diversity practices is mental and physical disabilities, which is said by
15 respondents out of total 30 participants. In addition to this, 9 participants think that generation
gap is the issue that arise, whereas the remaining 6 respondents said that gender inequality is the
major issue occur at the time of implementation of equality and diversity practices.

participants think that there is positive impact on organization while implementing equality and
diversity practices. In addition to this, 6 participants said that there is negative impact and the
remaining 6 said that there on organization due to implementation of equality and diversity
practices.
Recommendations:
From the above study, some of the recommendations is given to the company in order to
implement cultural and diversity practices at workplace are as follows:
 The company need to provide training session to employees that assist company to
enhance skills and capabilities of the staff members which has a positive influence on the
productivity as well as profitability of the organization.
 It is suggested to company to allow or give opportunity to the employees to participate in
the decision-making as it motivate them and enhance their productivity level. In addition
to this, it help company to declining workplace discrimination level and retain employees
for longer time period.
 It is recommended to company to implement cultural and diversity practices in an
effective manner as it has positive influence on overall performance and brand image of
the organization.

CONCLUSION
From the above study, it is concluded that it is important for an entity to eliminate
workplace discrimination within the organization. For this, companies implementing cultural and
diversity practices, which help them to decline the level of workplace discrimination in the
company. There are various benefits gained by company in order to implement equality and
diversity practices such as enhancement in productivity, employee retention, strengthen market
position and many more. Organizations provide training session to staff members and allow them
to participate in the decision making process in order to eliminate workplace discrimination in an
effective and proper manner.
Reflection
First of all I am glad to get an opportunity to conduct a research on the topic of equality and
diversity which is one of the most common topic in today’s environment. At the time of doing
this investigation I was nervous and excited as this is my first experience to do a research. While
doing the research, I have observed that my communication and problem solving skills are quite
weak which might affect my whole performance in a negative manner. Along with this, as per
my opinion one of the toughest task is data collection method as in this task I have to interact
with respondents. Due to my ineffective communication skill I was not being able to
communicate my question in front of the respondent which creates negative influence on the
result. At the end of this research, I have examined that my problem solving as well as
communication skills has been improved which will provide me ample number of opportunities
in the near future.
Alternative methodology
The present research is conducted on the topic of “To investigate the importance of
implementing equality and diversity practices for eliminating workplace discrimination within
the organization”. For concluding the whole investigation in a positive manner and for drawing
authentic and accurate conclusion investigator adopt questionnaire method. This is a source of
Primary method with the assistance of which all the data and information collected by
researchers in an effective manner. But it consumes lot of time and sometimes due to lack of
interest of respondents authentic information can not be gathered by them . Therefore, it has been
identified by the researcher that interview will be the alternative method for gathering data and

information from respondents. This will help them in order to know their views and thoughts
associated with the topic in an appropriate manner.
