organization to improve the level of employee's performance along with satisfying them. In
today's competitive world, every company is planning to enhance the productivity of its
workforce along with improving their performance (Weiner, 2012). For that, motivation is the

In accordance to Albrecht (2012), employee motivational is one of the crucial aspects of
human resource management which is focused on enhancing the performance of employees by
encouraging them through monitory and non-monitory rewards. Better enhancement of
workforce 's performance put their positive impact on the success of organization along with
achieving their objectives. While, availability of less motivation leads to decrease the satisfaction
level of customers by reducing the quality of customer service (Albrecht, 2012). On the same
side, it also put their negative impact on the profitability and revenue of business entity.
According the past studies, it has been observed that employee motivation is very
necessary for business entity for enhancing the productivity of human resources. Therefore, it is

organization to maximize the chances of their growth and development by increasing and
improving the level of employee's performance.
In present research, topic is related to evaluate the impact of motivation on the job
performance of employees which is linked with both academic and practical perspectives.

motivation at workplace is the major for management which leads to minimize their customer
value along with decreasing their sales revenue.

with this, it involves the objective of evaluating the importance of employee's motivation on the
performance of employees as well as job satisfaction. Further, identifying and assessing the
practices of motivation performed by ASDA is also one of the objective of this research.
Research methodology
Research methodology is the most essential aspect of research which is focused on
fulfilling the goals and objectives of research in an effectual manner (Siangchokyoo and Sousa-
Poza, 2012). It includes a range of methods, tools and techniques which helps researcher to
conduct their study in an appropriate manner by collecting data and information from
respondents. Present research is related to evaluate the impact of motivation on performance of
employees by considering the case of ASDA.
Research methods
In order to draw better conclusion and conducting research in better way, it is required for
researcher to select suitable methods of research (Kumar and Phrommathed, 2005). Availability
of appropriate methods must necessary for fulling the objectives of research in an effectual
manner.
Research Philosophy
It is mostly necessary for researcher to select suitable philosophies in order to determine
the importance of its research in better way (Bernard, 2006). Positivism and interpretivism are
the two major types of philosophies which helps researcher in collecting accurate data and
information. In present research, interpretivism philosophy will be selected by researcher to gain
information regarding subject matter. Availability of this philosophy will be helpful for
researcher by deducting the volume of general theories and including the enhancement of
practical knowledge. Moreover, this philosophy is effective for researcher to get clear
specification about the behavior and perception of respondents regarding motivation (Albrecht,
2012). In accordance to present study, collected information will be related to the impact of
motivation on employee's performance and job satisfaction.
Research Approach
It includes a set of activities that can be used by researcher for collecting and observing
data in a systematic manner (Diment, 2012). There are two types of research approaches such as
inductive and deductive; any one of this can be considered by researcher at the time of
11
Document Page
conducting research practices. In present project, inductive is the most suitable approach that has
been selected by researcher to collect data and information and after that, drawing an effective
solution and conclusion. In accordance to present study, inductive approach is beneficial for
gaining information related to impact of motivation on workforce's performance and its
contribution in business's success (Scruggs, Mastropieri and Casto, 2007).
Research Design
Selection of appropriate research design must necessary for researcher to collect reliable
information related to subject matter (Siangchokyoo and Sousa-Poza, 2012). Along with this, it
is beneficial for researcher to gain the answers of research questions set by him or her. Non-
availability of suitable design put their huge impact on the accuracy of collected data and
objectives of research project. Therefore, choosing right and proper research design is the most
essential for the researcher of study. In order to conduct research in more effective manner,
exploratory research design has bean selected (Kumar and Phrommathed, 2005). By considering
this design, researcher will be able to analyze the issues and problems regarding the qualitative
approach.
Data collection
Data collection is the most crucial portion of research which includes a set of methods
and tools that can be selected by researcher in the respect of gathering data and information
(Bernard, 2006). In data collection, it is needed to be considered by researcher that all the
available information must be accurate and reliable as well as related to subject matter. In order
to perform effective research, researcher can collect information from primary and secondary
sources. In this study, it is required to collect information from the both sources of data
collection. For primary data, questionnaire method can be considered by researcher which will
include a range of research question related to subject matter (Albrecht, 2012). On the other
hand, online sources, journals, books and annual report of company have been selected by
researcher for gaining secondary information in an effectual manner.
Research limitations
Time consummation and cost of research at the time of collecting data were the major
limitations for researcher (Diment, 2012). Gathering reliable information regarding subject
matter was a very big challenge for the researcher of report due to availability of fake
