TOPIC: “The influence of digital technology in the travel and tourism sector”.INTRODUCTIONDigital technologies are considered as the main factors that completely change the way ofoperating a business in today's modern world. With each development of new technology, acompany gain opportunity to run business more effectively. In context with tourist industry,digital technology has changed the way of travel. Organisations which are dealing in this sectorcan provide quick access to tourists where they can find new destinations to travel andappropriate ways to reach there. In this regard, mobile technology is considered as the best wayfor travel industries to make contact with tourists and influence them to visit a place. This wouldlead to enhance tourism in a country which proves beneficial for economic development. Alongwith this, through implementation of digital technology, travel agencies can reach at theirtargeted audience more effectively and gain their retention for longer period as well.The present research is going to evaluate how digital technology has reshaped the way oftourism. For this purpose, TUI UK (Thomson Holiday) is taken which is a travel based companyof UK and former subsidiary of TUI Group. It is headquartered in Luton, England and foundedin 1965. This travel agency offer services like holiday packages, cruise lines, passenger airlinesand more. To analyse the impact of digital technology on its operations, under the presentresearch aims and objectives are framed. This would give directions to researchers what theyhave to investigate for conducting a study. Furthermore, researcher’s techniques are also used toaccomplish the mentioned objectives in set period of time.TASK 11.1 Formulate and record of possible research project outline specificationsFor conducting a research, it is essential for project makers to formulate proper aims andobjectives that entail what have to be studied. It reflects the key points that need to be addressedfor understanding a concept and draw conclusion accordingly. Therefore, this part is consideredas the most important one which helps in addressing the issues more appropriately. In contextwith present research, here main aim is“To determine the importance of mobile technologyin travel and tourism sector”.This study is based on TUI UK which is parent company of TUI Group that offer itsservices worldwide. It has its own cruise named by Marella Cruises that offer services beyond1
with five ships in the fleet. Along with this, Crystal Ski is another sub-brand of respective agencythat serves ski tourism packages. Due to intense competition in travel industry, TUI Group isgoing to launch a mobile app of own brand to earn a competitive advantage over other rivalries.This technology would help respective travel agency in attracting more tourists towards itsservices. It will allow travellers to obtain information of various holiday packages offered by thiscompany as per their budget and purchase the same. For analysing how digital technology hasgiven advantages to this firm, project makers have made following main aims and objectives:-Research Aim:“To determine the importance of mobile technology in travel and tourism sector”. Astudy on TUI UK (Thomas Holiday).Research Objectives:To evaluate the concept of mobile technology in travel industry.To identify the role of mobile technology in enhancing tourism.To examine the advantages gained by TUI UK by launching a mobile app.To ascertain the strategies required to launch mobile app by TUI UK in travel industry.1.2 The factors that contribute to the process of research project selectionResearch project on a chosen topic is usually based on a number aspects entails entireactivities which are going to be done for completing a study. In this regard, present project isbased on examining the role of digital technology like mobile app for enhancing tourism and aidTUI UK in getting an edge over its competitors in same marketplace. For this purpose to conductstudy, description of overall activities that helps in conducting the present research on digitaltechnologies are given as below:-Introduction:This part introduces the research topic and provide scenario of completestudy that entails what is going to be done, for completing a project. It provides adirection to researchers by framing a proper aim and objectives, on which entire study isbased. Furthermore, it also entails the techniques which will be used for addressing mainissues and accomplishment of given aims and objectives.Literature Review:It refers to main part of research where secondary information iscollected from external sources on given topic. It includes books and journals,newspapers, magazines, scholarly articles and more. This would help in extracting pastdata from authenticate sources where other professionals have already conducted study.2

The travel and tourism industry has gone through a massive and drasticchange over the pas few decades . The increasing use of of digital Technologies like mobileapplications has made huge impact over the operations of travel and tourism sector thusorganisations related with travel and tourism sector used digital Technologies in respect todeveloping their operations and functions within the the large area of market.
