Introduction
Talent management is the process which refers the concept for making anticipation
which are required to maintain human capital for an organisation and help the organisation to
make a plan for completing basic needs and desire. Talent management is the science which
are useful for making strategic human resource policies to improve the business growth and
to make possible for the companies to reach out to their goals in desired time. The main
reason to choose this topic is that talent management include the process to recruit, retain,
develop and help their employees to perform in the strategic manner. Furthermore it is said
that talent management is focus on relating to the human resource management and their
development process so that the employees of the organisation are accomplish their goals and
serve their customer in best manner (Anaraki Ardakani and et.al., 2018). Many organisation
provide various opportunities for human resource, in both the ways, within and outside the
workplace for researching more innovative talented. Finding the talent management in such a
unique strategic resources, which are useful to achieving sustained competitive advantage and
different organisation which are used by talent management to capture. For completing this
research the chosen organisation is Tesco, which is a multinational company headquartered in
Welwyn Garden City, England. This research is based on finding the roles of HR and it will
help them to implement the talent management within the organisation. Furthermore it
discuss the different strategies which are useful for the growth of company and discuss the
impact of company’s talent management and their performance in the market.

To determine the impact of effective talent management strategies on
organisational success and performance. A case study on Tesco.

Research questions:
 What are the roles of HR while implementing talent management within the
organisation?

 How the company could make a strong relation between effective talent management
and their performance?
Research rationale
Tesco, which are operating their activity in retail industry. As the competition is increased in
the market at the very high rate. So one of the important topic which are prevailing in the
market is the search of talent management in companies for making them stronger in market.
Tesco build various talent management strategies which are helpful for them in order to
become more successful (Chitu and Russo, 2020). This research is conducting to evaluate the
performance of Tesco and their employees. This research help the investigator to know more
about the strategies of talent management.

Literature Review
To assess the role of HR in implementing talent management within
company
According to Pavlou, C (2021); the two terms Human resource management and talent
management are interchangeably, even with being altered purposes. As talent management is
the part of Human resource functions, HR attract, select and train the employees of the
organisation which are needed by the company. In Tesco, most of their employees are
suitable and manageable in various different cases. Talent management is the process where
the teams comes and grow in order to manage the objectives of the company. In Tesco, the
charge of talent management are in the hands of HR (Damer, 2020) (Elena, 2017). so the role
of HR in the company while manage talent management is very important and useful for the

described below:

 Recruiting: The foundation of talent management is hiring choosing the right people
at right time. This is one of the best recruiting process within the organisation as it
will help the company to make clear goals. With the help of carefully interviewing
applicants to select the strongest candidates.
 Performance management: Once the employee are hired, one of the most important
role of HR. HR technology and services are the solutions in the area such as time and
attendance to track their performance and productivity on the regular basis.
Furthermore they can manage the staff and allow their employees to provide feedback
related to services and improve performance (Taylor, 2018).
 Career management: Managing the employee and help them to choose their career
path is one of the important aspect of human resource manager. Build on the
information which are collected by the managers to perform and analysis the review
for employee’s strength and interest. In Tesco, the manager are dealing with the
people who are highly skilled and individual contributor then their main aim is to
make their career management in such a critical way that help the talent management
and employee satisfaction both (Goldstein and et.al., 2017).
 Leadership development: This is one of the vital part of talent management as once
the performance is set and their targets are achieved then they are shifted to the long
term goals and develop that employee in the best leader.
To examine different talent management strategies
According to Ghosh, P (2021); talent management is not just a checklist for
completing the requirement and for this companies has to make the complete strategic plan
for the improvement of company. There are mainly five strategies are there which are used by
Tesco and discussed here:
 Detailed job description: This is needed by most, as companies have to make a
strong and impressive job description. That help the source, by using software and the
candidate must understand the related concept of job role better (Storozhuk and
Zaiarniuk, 2019). This would include job title and location, overall duties and their
roles, skills which are searching by the company for their vacant job role. Another
things like reporting line and different type of tools and equipment used and salary
and benefits are needed by an employee.
 Person-organisation fit: An employee who are selected in the organisation are
related to organisational culture and practices. Their nature and culture must be fit in

the organisational culture and practices. It is quite difficult to know that an employee
are fit in the organisation or not for the growth of the company (Hernández, Zatarain
and Barrón, 2018). But at the same time this is important strategy of the talent
management team in the company.
 Collaborate coach: It means the company has to make the talent management team
and make them more effective culture which are related to coaching and mentoring of
employee. With the help of constructive feedback and development team the role of
employee and their skills are enhance and improved.
 Reward and recognize: The process where the rewards and recognition form a very
important part of the strategy which are helpful for employees to motivate, engage
and manage for the growth of company. This will further help the employee to
increase their development and make more strong future.
 Opportunities for the continuous improvement: one of the best strategy in talent
management is that managing the talent need and help them to secure their future for
the more opportunities (Savelyeva, Kurina and Zykova, 2019). This will involve the
companies planning related to their employee’s career path and that will create a
sense for the employee. Having a map to follow the task and improve the issues which
are coming are important and this will make retention to score better in the market.
While looking forward in the future they can think towards their common goals (What

To determine relation between effective Talent Management on
performance of company
With the help of talent management the growth of the company are increased and
their performance evaluation are increased and help in achieving the organisational goals.
According to almohtaseb ali, A (2021); explain that the growth and performance of an
employee is depend on their talent management team who are working on them and helpful
for improving their efficiency. The effect of an effective performance and organisational
performance will be helpful for the company to evaluate their performance. There is a very
strong relationship is established in between the talent management and performance of the
company. He further explain that the company and their employees are always in one team
and they help the company to manage their performance with their own records (Jameela,
2020). In order to improve the employees retention and it might be helpful for the company
to run and manage their talent within the organisation. In Tesco, they make the strong

relationship with employees in order to manage their talent resource in goodwill of the

employees are capable to learn the things in very ease and retain in the company for the long
period of time. So it is very important for the companies that the HR of the company must
know their roles and responsibility with employees. Further they should be aware with the
customers demand and increase their company’s productivity in market. All of these make a
strong image in front of market and build a relationship within company and their employees
(Sangapu, 2018).
Research Methodology
 Research Philosophy: This is the process and study of collecting and analysing the
data which are helpful in pertaining to a particular research and this is known as
research philosophy. This is very for the research as it will help to conduct the
research and effectively and attain the appropriate result (Rajasekar and Rengamani,
2017). Mainly there are two type of research philosophy, positivism and
interpretivism. For conducting this research, positivism philosophy has been used.
 Research Approach: This is defined that a plan or techniques are best in order to use
by researcher to complete the research project in the effective and ethical manner. The
researcher should be select their best option and make appropriate research by
keeping in mind which are using requirement for the research (Likhi, Sabita and Rao,
2018). To complete this research the chosen strategy is inductive research is used as
because it will be helpful for the company and researcher to conduct the study in an
effective manner and gather all the information in an effective manner.
 Quantitative methods: Here the research which can be used and defined as a type of
research which involve the data information and their gathering procedure. It can be
in the form of tables and charts, which are helpful for a good representation and easy
to understand. There are various different type of methods which are useful for
conducting research by using useful methods. The main purpose to collect the data in
quantitative format is to make a strong understanding and maintain the research topic.
 Primary and secondary data: In order to collect the information and make the research
in different from others are only with this way. As these sources are fresh and unique
form others. Primary or secondary are the two methods which are very important to
collect the information which are related to the research and their compliance (Liu,
2019). Data collection is one of the important part of research and its use for

collecting the data is important. The main example of conducting the research is
survey, interview, questionnaire and experiments etc. whereas the secondary data is
collected from the different journals and books to analysis and interpret the
information.
 Sampling and questionnaire: another important component of the research is to collect
the sample and define the process in selecting the pre-determined number of different
observations from the large populations (Polo, 2021). There are mainly 50
respondents has been selected in order to complete this research and finalised the
outcomes. With the 50 respondent researcher ask the various questions which are
helpful for this research and complete the final outcome. It is effective in nature and
time saving data collection process to analysis the interpretation on easily basis.
Thus all of methods and components are somehow important and appropriate for the use of
data to collect the information in an effective manner (Mahlahla, Lourens, and Oparinde,
2020). The research will be able to save unnecessary cost and result which are helpful for
creating more knowledge and develop some more in addition to that.

Interpretation
From the above graph it is suggested that, out of 50 respondent 15, think that the main
role of HR in talent management is to recruit the staff in the company at right time. Whereas
out of total, 10 thinks that helping and managing the career of an employee is the main
technique and role of HR in the company. As it will help the company to work and manage
their employees to retain for long term aspect. Again from the total respondent, 20 think that
the role of HR is to evaluate and analysis the performance of the company. And only 5
respondent think that become a good leadership style in the organisation and work according
to that is the main role of HR in relation to the talent management.

After conducting above research it is given that out of 50 respondent 20 think that the
best strategy which are used by companies is make a detailed job description which are

helpful for finding more respondent for the vacant position of company. While out of total 10
think that the main strategy of the company is to make their employees more comfortable in
company with their culture and regulation so that they can retain their employees in
organisation for long period of time. After that 13, think that collaborative approach in
company is best strategy to the company for effective use but 17 respondent think that giving
right reward and appreciation to their employee is the best strategies for the company to
retain their talent management.

While conducting this research I come to know that people have very different aspect
on the growth of companies. The role of HR in Tesco is very helpful and effective to retain
their talent within organisation for long period of time. Out of 50 respondents, 25 are said that
they know that the role of HR in the company is very effective and because of that the
relationship of HR and talent management is very good and evaluative in Tesco. Whereas, 25

said that they don’t think Tesco will make a constructive conclusion while making a
relationship in HR and talent management system.

staff and impressive management team for conducting the growth of company in market.

said that they are agree that talent is one of the important key function in many companies.
Most of the respondent say that they don’t think that talent management is helpful for their
own growth and company’s performance in market. And out of 50 respondents 15 said that
they never think about that talent management and their program in future.

a good company which perform a right function in order to manage and complete the demand
of their customer but they needed some more improvement.

Reflection and Recommendations for alternative research methodology
By understanding the research, I developed the various skills and knowledge which
are related to different type of aspect which are related to the concept of talent management. I
have develop effective communication skills and data which are required to maintain the
standard of research and effective communication skills. While conducting this research I
developed the importance of talent management and I come to know that the human resource
department and talent management department are two different aspect. Talent management

is comes under the control of human resource management. I have learned different type of
organisation focusing on talent management and their employees which are work in the best
manner to complete the desired objective. Employee and manager can opt different type of
strategies and their policies which are helpful for the company in order to prevent the issues
and challenges. Furthermore, I learned that how the relation of the HR and their managers are
comes to achieve the common goal and work hard to retain the talent management of Tesco.
With the help of conducting research on Tesco, I would come to know more about the
company and their performance management system in market. The reasons because of that
Tesco would use the best strategy and able to manage their growth in market. Tesco growth
and performance are totally depend on their effective human resource capability and different
and effective team. All these multinational company are very helpful for the growth and
performance of the company. This strategy of Tesco are helpful to retain their employee for
long period and able to manage organisational problem at lower level. I have learnt many
other things which are related to this research are understanding the concept of company and
importance of ethical consideration are used to make the effective and ethical research.
I got a chance to complete the research and develop some more effective interpersonal
skills which are helpful for the company. In order to make sure about the information which
are collected by me is relevant and supported my studies in an effective manner. With the
help of this research I would come to know about different methods of research that are
quantitative and qualitative research. This respective research is based on the quantitative
data but it is also analysis that the qualitative data is can be used to conduct the research with
an effective process. This is because qualitative research is somehow related to the aspect and
effective manner of studies (Mahlahla, 2018). I found that the research and their effective
approaches are helpful for the researcher in order to conduct the research and achieve their
goals and objective with smoothly basis. It is suggested that before doing research, a
researcher would be developed some more understanding which are related to research and
their approaches. By doing so, it is said that researcher are able to understand more about
research methodology methods. From the outcomes, it has been analysis that talent
management in the Tesco, is very helpful and effective to increase their performance growth
in market. As a result it is said the company are mainly able to pay the gain by making
profitability with good human resource talent in the market.

Conclusion and Recommendation
From the above report, it can be concluded that talent management is an important
way of human resource management. For improving the performance and sustainability of
the company they needed most important and valuable resources i.e. Human resource. In
order to conduct an effective talent management, this is a very important for the managers
within an organisation to understate different steps and valuable resources of company.
Talent management is the important tool for the companies to growth and improve
performance which are helpful for the company. Also, this talent management help to provide
motivation level within their employee to perform function and increased efficiency which
are related to their respective jobs. And the result comes when overall performance of the
company are increased.
From conducting above information some recommendations that can be made for the
help of respective company. Tesco should make proper planning to evaluate the growth of
company and their performance (McDonnell and et.al., 2017). Furthermore they should
develop some more training and development programme for their customer and employees
to retain their customer in the company with the best effective employees. After that they
should motivate their employees, across the management system. This will help the company
to manage during decision making process and helpful for developing effective strategies.
There are various benefits which are helpful for the company to make a strong competition in
market and make a strong impact with the help of competitive advantages (Miiro and Otham,
2016).
