Introduction
The aim of the paper is to prepare the proposal for the purpose of understanding and
developing further research on the issue of privacy protection in the age of digital marketing
and consumer behaviours. This study will be conducted considering the issue of data breach
of three different industries, Facebook, eBay and the Marriott International. It has been
observed that huge number of data breach has taken place in the recent past in almost all the
industries that work as the repository of information. Due to the data breach, privacy of the
individuals is at stake. This situation will be studies further by understanding the protocols
and the measures developed and maintained by the market for the protection of the consumer
data in the public forum. Privacy has always been one of the crucial aspect soft the human
existence and due protection of the same has been significant at the age of digital age. It has
been argued that protection of the private information is required to be managed at with the
development of a robust infrastructure. The following issues of then paper will be developing
a detailed understanding on the issue of protection of privacy and sensitive information as
part of the attempt to protect the privacy of the individual.
Research questions
RQ1. What are the ways in which the retailers, hotels and others marketer protect the data
and privacy of the customers?
RQ2. What are the repercussions of such data threats to the customers?

RQ3. In what ways the marketers are failing to maintain the privacy protection guidelines?
Methodology
Research methodology is the way of systematically analysing and solving the research
problem. It is understood as the study of science by which the research is conducted. It is
inclusive of data collection method by considering the sample size for the research. It further
explains the sampling and data collection technique for the purpose of the study (Gehman et
al. 2018). According to Gioia’s approach of the qualitative method of approach the
qualitative researchers have the flexibility of choosing form broad array of technique across
other approaches even though every research requires customisation (Gioia et al. 2013).
Methodology is the orienting principles presented to the researchers that require modification
and customisation for the purpose of the research. Hence considering the nature of the work
of understanding the data protection in the age of digital marketing by referring to the case
