TITLE : “How globalisation can drive business success”
Research Aim
“To identify the impact of globalisation on business organisation”. A case study on TESCO.
INTRODUCTION
Globalisation is the procedure which is emerging immensely in present business scenario
because due to greater competition each and every organisation is placing an emphasis on selling
its products across global boundaries. It is taking various initiatives to make availability of
technologies all over the world. In last few years, globalisation is increasing at a rapid rate both
in developing and developed countries (Epstein, 2018). With the help of globalised business
there has been huge and tremendous increase in the economic growth of the companies. In
present business scenario, where globalisation helps the businessman to earn huge amount of
profits to the businesses because of cheap labour available in the market who are ready to work
at lower prices also. It helps global market to consider it as one single market. It opens up the
doors for the businesses so that free trade or industry can be established in the industry and
liberalises the sharing of capital goods, workforce, technologies, etc. It helps in establishing the
interconnection among people and organisations so that the businesses can accomplish the global
culture, economic and political integration. This is also possible because of the growing
requirements of the higher level of technological advancements in the industries which enable
them to work globally and maximises their profitability.
Organisations which are making their products and offerings global , they will be able to
make better use of resources, this will also give them numerous choices for commencing the
operations and they will not have to depend upon one single domestic country. By adopting
globalisation, the company can earn foreign exchange because this inspires to promote exports
and discourages the importing of goods and services. No matter whether the organisations are
big or small, globalisation is useful and plays greater role in every company irrespective of their
size, structure and culture (Matten, 2016). With the support of globalisation from past many
years, globalisation with the help of technologies is able to solve many problems to the greater
extent. Therefore, it is the most growing concept and can lead the businesses to the greater
heights and levels. For commencing the businesses in global market, it is essentially important
for the companies to subscribe themselves with the rules and regulations of the world trade

heights and levels. For commencing the businesses in global market, it is essentially important
for the companies to subscribe themselves with the rules and regulations of the world trade
organisations. This is because it overlooks the various terms and conditions between different
countries. But at the same time, sometimes it becomes hard to evaluate that whether the impact
of globalisation has been beneficial or harmful for the businesses (Crane, 2018). No doubt,
globalisation has created ample of opportunities for the people all over the world but it has also
created the higher level of competition which has reduced the level of profitability in many
countries. Thus, globalisation has affected the organisations in both positive and negative
manner. It has maximised the level of competition in the variety of products, quality of offerings,
service,s etc. Those organisations which were successful are now establishing themselves in the
global market.
Globalisation is affected by numerous factors all over the world and this alteration is due
to the growing demands and requirements of the people of the new and innovative products and
services, activities which enhances free trade for businesses, large scale emergence of advance
technologies, etc. Thus, it has changes the manner of doing businesses and enhances the local
people of the organisation to develop connections with the rest of the world. Basically the
concept of globalisation has been initiated and originated from those countries which are
developed and have various MNC's operating who have huge financial resources and have the
capability to enter into new market and country with effective and efficient technologies,
capitals, products and services, etc.
The purpose of this research is to analyse importance globalisation in enhancing business
growth of the organisation (Cramer, 2017). This research will help in understanding various of
aspects of globalisation and its benefits in business growth. In this, researcher will explore how
globalisation generates business opportunities for organisations which ultimately contributes in
rapid enhancement thus contributing in earning high growth and profitability for firms. This
research for TESCO has been carried out for some specific reasons. At academic level, this topic
has been chosen to enhance knowledge on Globalisation as it plays vital role in business
expansion and growth. At personal scale, this research will improve my analytical and
communication skill that will help me out conducting better research in future. Along with this,
researcher of this project is planning to work with TESCO, for this they are carrying out this
research. Along with this, it has been analysed that, globalisation is not only gives positive
impact also this provide negative impacts on domestic businesses as environmental damage,
fluctuation in prices, and many more. In addition to this, when climate can change it

accomplished in given role of time. Globalisation such as expansion, development & carry out
activities has to be done with defined roles or responsibilities with a purpose to enhances
business and operational outcomes to brings profit generation into the radar. In matter of
business growth, globalisation has not shown effective outcomes to business entities to make
business work results oriented. In a retail sector, globalisation has shown good response in
operations at a greater term period along with suitability to earn higher profit at a maximum
point of time. In current business era, globalisation is growing concept, especially in retail sector

realised both impact and benefits of it to grow profit raising at a developed period of time.
Globalisation has been resulted into increase in business growth to accomplish business
profits to gather firm purpose or goals in a defined manner. Part of a globalisation is that, it will
be resulted into acquiring business objectives in a sources of time. In context of a retail industry,
globalisation has been resulted into development or rising business firm at a defined stage. In this

gather business objectives out of a defined strategies.
c) Major obstacles of the globalisation
According to the Rosamond Hutt, (2015), globalisation is a full-fledged process of how
business firm acts into the market to build business growth for longer period of time. In business
matte, globalisation is currently issues related to ineffective use of strategies, action plan and
methodology to grab market share. In market structure of UK, globalisation has put various
challenges such as lack of the resources, ineffective use of manpower as because of lack of skill
and competencies, improper strategies or challenges that has been resulted into ineffective
performance or results to be gained in longer time duration. Ineffective resource allocation is one
of the major obstacles of a globalisation which can impact's on TESCO to faces long term
competition with other retailer to rise business expectancy with struggle. This was realised that,
lack of policies, plan and strategic thinking has been realised as major challenges to Tesco and
other retail businesses to grown future based outcomes in given point of time. These obstacles
has put major impact on profit earning capacity of this business firm and impact revenue
building model to survive in the market for business purpose. Due to this obstacles, market has
focused Tesco to pump more funds in business operation of a Tesco at an optimised period of
time. For retail industry, globalisation is a kind of process with help of which Tesco can build
their own policies, process or strategic planning to get instant solution of an obstacles with taking
measures to build profit, selling of a product along with establishing a source of conducting an
effective operation or profit generation to ability to act as market leader in an industry.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research Methodology is a process is used to collect data and information for the purpose
of planning and business decisions. Methodology may include publication research, data
given point of time. There are different results of globalisation, in which retail sector has been

analysis, interviews, surveys, other research techniques and include both past and present
information. In a research paper, the methodology section allows the reader to critically evaluate
a study's overall validity and reliability. The methodology section answers two main questions:
How was the data collected or generated? and How it was analysed? In short, a methodology
provides a blueprint for researchers to follow and allowing them to conduct their own study.
There are 3 steps of doing a research:-
Research Philosophy:- It is a belief about the way in which data should be gathered,
analysed and used. The philosophy taken for the researches is a pragmatism research
philosophy. It accept concepts to be relevant only if they support action. Pragmatism
“recognize that there are many different ways of interpreting the world and undertaking
research”. According to this, research question is the most important determinant of the
research philosophy. Two major research philosophies have been identified in the
Western tradition of science, namely positivist (sometimes called scientific) and
interpretivism (also known as anti-positivist). According to the current study,
interpretivisim philosophy will be used by researcher. Main reason about selectig this
philosophy as it helps researcher by providing accurate information or data about the
topic. Positivisim is another philosophy which is not approprite because it take more time
of company.
Research Approach:- Relevance of hypotheses to study is the main distinctive point
between deductive and inductive approaches. Deductive approach tests the validity of
assumptions (or theories/hypotheses) in hand, whereas inductive approach contributes to
the emergence of new theories and generalizations. Deductive Approach is approach will
provide the observations that are needed in forming the views for the outcomes to address
the research objectives. Inductive Approach is another approach does not involve
formulation of hypotheses. It starts with research questions, aims and objectives that need
to be achieved during the research process. Deductive approach will be follow for
conducting current investigation in systematic manner. This method provide information
in form of quantity. On the other side, indiuctive approach is not approprite and useful
according to the current topic because it need more resources.
Time Horizon:- This is needed for the research design independent of research
methodology used. There are two types of time horizon namely Longitudinal and Cross-
information. In a research paper, the methodology section allows the reader to critically evaluate

DATA COLLECTION METHODS
Research method is a broad term. While methods of data collection and data analysis
represents the core of research methods. There are two types of data involved in data collection-
Primary data and Secondary data. Primary data is a type of data which never existed before,
hence it was not previously published. Secondary data refers to a data that has been previously
published in magazines, newspapers, books, records, journals and other sources.
1. Secondary Data :- The researchers gathered information from journals, articles and
books. This data contains both raw data and published data. It helps us structuring ideas,
developing new concepts, widen new direction of data and organise appropriate approach
to research.
2. Primary Data :- This data is collected for the completion of research. It is the data
collected from the survey and we do not have any previous results for this data. There are
two categories of data collection available. One of them is Qualitative data collection and
second is Quantitative data collection.
Primary and seconadry are two method of data collection. In order to gather primary
information, questionnaire is most useful method which will be apply. Books, magzines, journals
etc. are consider essential sources for researcher to collect secondary information regading the
current study. Therefore, both are useful methods which will be apply for conducting current
invesyigation systematically.
Research type: There are basically two types of research which are qualitative and qunatitative.
These are determine as below in detail manner:
Qualitative research- Data which is not in numerical form and that cannot be quantified
(which cannot measure in terms of quantity) is known as Qualitative data. The use of interview
can help the researcher to gather valid data and reliable data that are relevant for their research.
There interviews are mainly categorized into two namely Standardised and Non-standardised
interviews. Standardised interviews will have interview administered questions whereas the other
one does not have.

research, the researchers use questionnaire for the survey. That questionnaire includes all
techniques of data collection in which each person is asked to respond to the same set of
questions in a predetermined order. The questionnaires are used in the research as it permits
prompt and honest responses from a respondent than interviews.
According to the current investigation, qualitative reserch will be used. As it will support
investigator by providing quality and accurate data regading the globalisation and its positive and
negative impact on business performance. On the other side, quantitative research is not useful
according to the recent study because it require maximum time of company or researcher.
SAMPLING
Sampling is the process of selecting a representative group from the population under
study. Sampling helps a lot in research. It is one of the most important factor which determines
the accuracy of your survey result, reliability and validity of the study and has immense
implications on the overall quality of the study. If anything goes wrong with your sample then it
will be directly reflected in the final result. A sample is a group of people who take part in the
investigation. For this research study, sample size of the 50 respondents will be taken to
complete this study. Simple random sampling will be used for conducting research in systematic
manner. This is a type of probability sampling which will support investigator to select sample
size on random basis. Simple random sampling is useful method which helps reseracher by
saving its time, cost and resources. Non-probability is another method which will be not useful
according to current investigation. As it need more resources as well as time of company.

Company should adopt the relevant measures in order to minimise the risk of various
factors. For this purpose, TESCO should identify the potential risks, analyse them and
interpret them so that proper solution can be framed to deal with such unanticipated
events.
The should focus on providing proper learning and training sessions to the people so that
they can make their workforce skilled and powerful enough that they can work
effectively and efficiently in order to accomplish business goals and objectives.
P6 Reflection
I am glaot that I get an effective chance for doing investigation over an intresting topic ie.
“To identify the impact of globalisation on business organisation”. A case study on TESCO. As
this topic helps me in improving my research skills which are literature review, data analyes,
data interpretation and so on. On the other hand, in order to complete this research, I become
more able to use different research methods which are qualitative and quantitative reserch,
primary and secondary method of data collection, questionnaire etc. These methods are effective
when I collect information about the study. With this research I have learned and gained a lot of
experience. This research has helped me a lot for my future. Though I have faced various
problems as well like poor management of time and shortage of funds but with my calm nature I
am able to cope up with all the hurdles effectively and efficiently. By using the qualitative
method I am able to get in depth understanding of the human behaviour. This will help in
making more judgemental and real results.
P7 Alternative methodology
For conducting future reserch over globalisation, I need to use Interview as an alternative
research methodology. It will be more essential tool of data collection and helps researcher by
giving approprite information about the topic. Open-ended questions will be prepare for
respondents by identifying their view about the globalisation and its impact on business
performance. This tool of data collection highly useful because it provide reliable and accurate
information regading the current studu. The methodology used in this research was
Questionnaire but on the place of it, the researcher could have used several different
methodologies as well like survey, focus group, interview, observations, etc. All these
methodology will also provide true and fair results.
