Exploring the effectiveness of cloud computing in Logistics

This research aims to explore the use of cloud computing in logistics and its potential to improve operations. It will use a systematic literature review method to analyze the effectiveness of cloud computing on logistics. The expected outcome is the identification of opportunities for improving logistics operations through cloud-based networks and other information technologies.

Abstract
The aim of this research is to explore the existing use of cloud computing in logistics
operation, while the examining the potential intervention of cloud computing to improve the
logistics operation. This research will use the systematic literature review method. It can be
assumed that there should be the scope of improving the logistics operation in more
innovative way with the help of cloud based network and other information technologies.
Literature Review- Broad Scan and Reading

In this age of digitalisation, the utilisation of cloud based networking system in
various industrial operations is constantly increasing. The interest on this topic was born from
the curiosity of how the logistics operation can get benefitted from cloud computing. As the
topic of this research is effectiveness of cloud computing in logistics, two major key words
could be emerged immediately namely the ‘cloud computing’ and ‘logistics technologies’.

Logistics information system. This research study has systematically analysed the utilisation
of logistics information system in various sections of the logistics management through cloud
based database system and other system modules such as Supply Management System (SMS)
Article 2: Chandra, A.A. and Lee, S.R., 2014 A method of WSN and sensor cloud system to
monitor cold chain logistics as part of the IoT technology.
This article is focused on the cloud network and cloud commuting system in the
logistics operations while considering the wireless communication technologies as a
significant platform. The study has conducted a systematic literature review considering the
operational architecture of WSN and sensor based cloud system to monitor and control
logistics.
Article 3: Lin, I.C., Hsu, H.H. and Cheng, C.Y.,, 2015., A cloud-based authentication
protocol for RFID supply chain systems.
The study is highly focused on the RFID or Radio Frequency Identification system
and its implementation in supply chain and logistics management through cloud based
information exchange platform. The study provides a detailed empirical analysis on the data
structure and operational efficiency of RFID system and the resultant improvement in supply
chain management.

This article is focused on the implementations of complex software solutions are
accompanied with an intrinsic conflict between requirements, such as an ever-growing
complexity of enterprise software solutions versus a demand for more and more shortened
implementation cycles. The research has specifically reanalysed the data structure and
information flow of warehouse management system with the help of cloud networking.
Proposed Research:
Background:
According to many research articles and practical case studies it can be clearly stated
that in this era of information technology based business operation there are many
potentialities of using cloud network in logistics operations for enhancing the efficiency and
productivity.
Purpose and aims:
The aim of this research is to explore the existing use of cloud computing in logistics
operation, while the examining the potential intervention of cloud computing to improve the
logistics operation.
Methodology:
This research is a exploratory research, which will be based on the secondary data
collection process with the help of systematic literature review. The data extraction form for
various chosen article will be also used to analyse the effectiveness of cloud computing on
logistics critically.
Expected outcome:

From the literature review it can be assumed that there should be the scope of
improving the logistics operation in more innovative way with the help of cloud based
network and other information technologies. The RFID, Cloud storage, Big Data and other
interventions could be proven as the basic components of strategic improvement.
