are the factors that causes stress among the LSAs, because of which their satisfaction level of the
job has minimized as well. The actual role of an LSA is to provide help and support to the pupils
who need special attention or the ones who lack in some specific areas. LSAs, along with
studies, indulge the children in other activities as well such as playing, extra co curriculum
activities. This helps in maintaining the confidence level of the pupil. Various methods as well

about the various factors that causes stress among the learning support assistants and formulating
various strategies for enhancing the job satisfaction at London FE Colleges. Efficient
deployment of the learning support depends upon the better communication levels between the
staff and the willingness for providing support to each other in the classroom. LSAs are
considered as highly skilled professionals in specific backgrounds. They expect proper support

resource management strategy can be useful for increasing their job satisfaction as along with
selection, recruitment, development, it also deals in ways for motivating the employees. The
human resource manager should also be concerned about the employees satisfaction with the job.
Altruistic managers care about their employees, so they focus on the satisfaction of their
employees. These can help in minimizing the stress levels of the LSAs, thus enhancing their
satisfaction levels as well. The present research is about finding out the factors that acts stressful
for the LSAs and also, it includes formulation of the strategies for job enhancement at the

Rationale
LSAs has an important role as they work very closely with the school special needs
coordinator (SENCO) along with the classroom teachers. They also focus on developing

Individualized educational program (IEPs) with the SENCO. They differentiate the material so
that the pupils are able to access them efficiently. They manage the proper evaluation of a pupil
by recording and monitoring the performance details and then, reports it to the class teacher.
They have an important role in the development of a child. At the London FE Colleges, the
learning support assistants maintains proper record of a student and then discusses with the class
teacher and the SENCO, if there is any cause for concern. While teaching, the LSAs also
undergo a lot of stressful situations as sometimes the students do not cooperate and many times,
the teaching staff has much more expectations from them. Negative comments and bad attitude

Roles played by Learning support assistants
Learning support assistants are often referred as the teaching assistants that provide help
and support to the teachers and students in a classroom. According to Lam and Yan (2011), in
learning support, an efficient deployment depends upon the interaction level between the staff
and the willingness to provide support to one another in the classroom. LSAs can contribute
more efficiently to the support when they know the plan for a section of lessons. As per Skaalvik
and Skaalvik (2011), complex plans do not go well with the LSAs as it seems quite hard to
manage for them as well as for the students. When they know that what the expectations of
children from them are, they act more effectively. LSAs focuses on pupils should be active in

work. Even if they are providing them extra support in any of the activity like games or studies,
their effort is giving confidence to the students of various participations. The learning support
assistants should value their efforts. It will help them in staying confident and motivated towards

not cooperate with them, they should stay positive and continue doing their work. They should
not bother of what people are talking about them, as it creates stress. So, they can stay positive

they can be able to complete their duties well.

other person than the researcher herself. Common sources includes online, books, journals etc. In
this research of investigating about strategies for enhancing job satisfaction at London FE
Colleges, primary as well as secondary data will be used The secondary data will be collected by
the researcher by means of books, journals online.
Sampling
Sampling can be considered as a method of choosing the elements from a population
sampling methods are of two types namely probabilistic and non-probabilistic methods. A
probabilistic sampling is a form of sampling that utilises some sort of random selection whereas
the non-probabilistic sampling is termed as a way whether all the samples are being collected in
a process that does not provides equal chances to everyone involved. The researcher will use
probabilistic method in this research on learning support assistants. Simple random sampling
(SRS) will be used in this case as it acts the efficient one from the other ones. In the research, 40
learning support assistants will be chosen from different colleges.
Data Analysis
Data analysis can be considered as a systematic method of applying logical and statistical
techniques for the proper description and illustration of information. It also condenses the data
and then its evaluation takes place. Data integrity can be ensured by two basic elements,
appropriate and accurate analysis of the findings of the research. It is further classified in two
parts such as quantitative and qualitative methods (Abdullah, Ismail and Idrus, 2015). The
qualitative method of data analysis includes the use of thematic technique. Quantitative analysis
involves use of statistical tools and software such as Statistical package for the social sciences
(SPSS). . In the present research, the thematic method will be used in the analysis of data. The
thematic technique will help in organising the details in the form of themes and determining

important information through it. This will help in achieving the aim of searching for strategies
that can help the learning support assistants in reducing their stress levels, thus maximizing the
satisfaction of their job at London FE Colleges.
Ethical Considerations
Ethics are termed as the standards or norms for conduct that differentiates between the
right and the wrong. Ethical considerations are considered as an essential part of the research. In
this research on LSAs, the participants of the research will not be harmed in any context. The
respect for the dignity of the other participants will be given priority. For distinguishing between
right and wrong, ethics are termed as the standards that helps in identifying the difference
between behaviours, whether they are acceptable or unacceptable. In conducting research, there
should be no copy paste as it can lead to plagiarism. The citations will be done properly. The
respondents will be given proper information and data so that they can be able to complete the
research efficiently. These considerations must be involved in the conducting research so as to

Research limitations

who are either brilliant in something and they need more support, or for them who lack in some
specific areas. LSAs provide them that support by indulging them in various other curriculum
activities, along with the studies like games etc. It helps in motivating the students and their
confidence level. While performing their role in the college, sometimes they undergo various
factors which acts as a reason for causing stress and disturbing the work schedule. By the help of
this research, different types of strategies for enhancement of job satisfaction will be known.
With the help of which, the learning support assistants can be able to minimize their stress levels
and focus on their job. This will help in increasing their job satisfaction at London FE Colleges.
