Abstract
According to the Garnaut report South Africa should deduct the CO2 emission in their county
which is produced from the transportation emissions. It is reported that by 2050 the emission will
increase by 5% of the 2000 levels. Thus introduction of electric vehicles in this count will be an
efficient and effective step taken by the vehicle minister. The electric vehicle can be introduced
to reduce the CO2 emission which can solve many pollution issues of the country. The proposed
research will focus on the introduction of these efficient electric vehicles in South Africa.

Introduction
Background Study
The primary advantage of the electric vehicles that they are rechargeable. The
researching mechanism can be done from the current produced from the renewable energy
sources. According to [1] the allover life cycle emissions for the various energy pathways are
utilized to start a car if medium size. The author of [1] considered the following pathways:
refined oil, natural gas, coal, farmed trees and wind as well as solar energy. The author
concluded that plug in hybrids will decrease the oil usage as well as greenhouse emissions per
kilometer. This will decrease the pollution level of the country.
Problem statement
The rise in the level of CO2 emissions in South Africa has reached its peak. The Emission
and the pollution rate should be controlled as soon as possible. This emissions negatively impact
the citizen of South Africa as well as becoming harmful threats for the plantation and aquatic
life. These emission should be controlled as soon as possible such that they cannot become a
vulnerable threat for the people of South Africa. This makes the entire environment of the South
Africa to become impure which alters all the biological balance of the Earth [2]. The proposed
research will introduce electric vehicles in South Africa such that the emission of CO2 and other
greenhouse gases can be controlled.
Research aims and Objectives
The aim of the research is increase the awareness regarding the harmful CO2 and other
greenhouse gas emissions, mitigate the pollution level of the country and to introduce electric
vehicles in South Africa.

The research objectives are as follows:
i. To raise the awareness regarding the harmful CO2 and other greenhouse gases
emissions
ii. To mitigate the pollution level of the country
iii. To introduce electric vehicles in the country
Research Questions
RQ1. Why the CO2 and greenhouse gases emission is harmful for the country?
RQ2. How to mitigate the level of pollution?
RQ3. How should the electric vehicle be effective against the CO2 and greenhouse gases
emission?
Research Methodology
Research Philosophy
Research philosophy helps to examine the research tropic in detail [3]. The research
philosophy method that will be used in this particular research is the positivism. We will use this
method as it will assist us to examine the problems in critical and logical way. The other two
methods of the research philosophy namely, Interpretivism and realism will not be used as this
research is not based on an individual. It is based on the whole citizen of the South Africa [4].
Research Design
Analytical research design will be applicable for this research as it will provide an in-
depth analysis of the previous studies related to this research [5]. This will help us to gather

information more precisely regarding the research topic and the proposed project will be
completed in a detailed way [6].
Data Collection Method
Data will be a primary factor for this research. The data will be collected from both and
secondary sources. The primary sources include: survey and interviews. Several participants will
be involved to explore their views regarding the introduction of electric vehicles in the South
Africa [7]. Some organization managers will also be involved in the interviews which will help
us to gather information regarding the impact of electric vehicles in several industry of South
Africa. The secondary data will be collected from the online journals and articles. The online
journals will helps us to gather information regarding the previous studies and will also provide
some knowledge regarding the impacts of the electric vehicle on the CO2 in the society [8].
Data analysis method
The data collected from the primary sources will be converted in the form of graphs and
percentages which will assists the analyst to take decisions. The data will be transformed in a
graphical form which provide a comprehensive as well as comparative study regarding the data
collected from the primary sources [9]. The secondary data will be analyzed using the thematic
approach. The graphical data formed after the transformation of the collected primary data will
be matched with the secondary data in a thematic design which will help to know the proper
implementation method of the Electric vehicles in the South Africa.
Ethical Considerations
The entire research will be followed by some strict ethical guidelines. The primary data
will be collected without forcing any participants in the survey. This will be ensured when the

participants will sign a form which will convey that they participate the survey with their wish
and they are not forced to participate in this particular survey. The survey form will not contain
any organization logo else it will be a type of advertisement. The survey will be taken for the
academic purpose. Any recommendation from the participants will be noted down such that the
research can be made in a more detailed way. The approval and the permission should be taken
from the Government of South Africa before undertaking the survey [10]. Several managers will
be involved in some meetings where it should be ensured that the interviewer should not be
forced to alter his or her decision or recommendation regarding the implementation of electric
vehicles in South Africa. Amnagers can explore their views regarding the imopact of the electric
vehicles in their particular industry. In case of the secondary data, references should be noted
such that the research does not contain any type of plagiarized work. Thus, in this way the
research will be undertaken such that it cannot violate any rules and regulations of the country.
Research limitations
Each and every research work contains some limitations with it. In this particular
research the time frame is the main and primary limitation. Some additional should be
considered such that if any alterations in the project occurs, it will not hamper any other project
dimensions. Each and every work of the research should be completed within the deadline. Time
maintenance will help us to complete the research seamlessly. Moreover all the research
requirements should be analyzed previously such that the research is not suspended due to the
lack of the resources. The data might not be enough for drawing some conclusion on the research
topic. Gaining permission is also a limitation or this particular research. The research plan should
be aoproved by some supervisors which will be helpful for us to complete the research without
producing any error. The permissions should be approved previously such that we can gather

enough data required for the research. The research cost is also a primary concern related to this
research limitation. The actual research cost should not exceed the estimated cost. Thus the
research should be planned in a proper way such that each and every dimension of the research
should have some countermeasures if some accident occurs.
