TITLE:
Living with dementia in elderly.
Introduction
Dementia is a chronic or persistent disorder of the mental process that are caused by
different brain disease or injury and marked by memory disorders, personality changes and
impaired reasoning. Dementia is not considered as a specific disease, it is a wide term which
describes a group of symptoms that are associated with a decrease in memory or other thinking
skills servers to decline an individuals ability to perform their daily activities (Knapp, Iemmi and
Romeo, 2013). This disease is majorly found among old age people and has a huge impact on
their living. The present research will focus on the analysing the life of elders that are dealing
with the issue of dementia. The study will also describe the cause of dementia and how it impacts
on the living of elders and their relatives.
Background of the Research
The study is based on the issue of dementia and its impact on the living of elder.
Dementia is mainly refers as a syndrome which is majorly associated with a range of diseases
that are defined through the progressive impairment of brain functions, involving language,
memory, perception, personality and cognitive skills. This issue is mainly found among the age
group of 65 and over, 6.5% are estimated to suffer with the issue of dementia. In the elder age
people are facing various kind of physical as well as mental issues among which dementia is the
most essential issue which has a huge impact on the living of people and their friends and
relatives.
Rational of the Research
The research into consideration is based on the issue of dementia and its impact on the
living of elders. Dementia has a direct affect on the thinking, behaviour and the ability of an
individual to perform their daily activities (Livingston and et. al., 2017). With the high causes of
dementia the brain function of people is affected enough to interfere with the person's normal
social or working life. The major purpose of this research is to enhancing the knowledge base of
learner in the area of dementia and its vast influence on the living of elders. This area of study

also helps in exploring the knowledge of learner in the area of dementia and how improvements
can be made in the mental condition of old age people.
Research Aim
To study the life of elders that are dealing with dementia.
Research Objectives
 To understand the concept of dementia and its causes in old age people.
 To analyse the measures that are effective in improving the quality of life in elderly
people with dementia, by the end of their lives.
 To determine the ways through which relatives can deal with the changes of elder people
with dementia.
Research Questions
 What is the concept of Dementia and its different causes in old age people?
 How we can improve the quality of life in elderly people with dementia, by the end of
their lives?
 How relatives deal with the changes of elderly people with dementia?
Literature Review
This is also an another essential part of research project which helps the investigator in
creating an effective theoretical framework in the manner of discussing the issue. Dementia
refers as a collection of symptoms which are arises through disorders affecting the brain. It is not
a specific disease, it is a combination of various causes that impacts on the mental ability of a
person. If the elderly people have a positive view to live their life then it can lead them to have
more energy, less stress and will help in decreasing cognitive decline (Mol, Moser and Pols,
2015). The mental and the emotional needs of elderly people must be taken care of so that they
have a positive view for their life. Successfully helping elderly people with dementia and
engaging them with family members will help them to improve the quality of life in elderly
people. If a person develops a positive view towards their life then they can at least get to
alleviate medical problems. Intervention made by relatives can lead to improve the quality life
among the people with dementia.

Research Methodology
Research involves various methods that assist the investigator to moving forward towards
right direction. A research is either qualitative or quantitative in nature and the present
investigation is based on qualitative analysis as in this information is gathered on the basis of
qualitative means. however is includes descriptive research design in respect to providing
support to the qualitative investigation. Interpritivism research philosophy will be effective for
justifying the information by descriptive analysis with author point of view (Sosa-Ortiz, Acosta-
Castillo and Prince, 2012). along with this primary as well as secondary tools are applied by the
researcher for the purpose of reaching at potential outcome by creating an appropriate theoretical
framework and data analysis. Random sampling tool is applied by the investigator for collection
of sample and conduct proper data analysis through questionnaire.
Limitations of the Study
A research has various limitations which has a direct impact on the results and outcomes
of a study. Data collection is considered as the major limitation of the research as it s tedious for
an investigator to gather reliable information on a particular research topic. Primary data
collection is a most effective challenge as it is a time consuming method and in this people are
not able to provide proper information due to the insecurity about their personal information.
Insufficient secondary source for collecting reliable information is another limitation. The
selection of most suitable methodology is also refers as the major consideration of researcher.
Along with this less time is provided to completion of the project on a crucial concept of
dementia this develops issues to execute proper operations in the needed areas of study and
reduce the accuracy of research outcome.
Overcoming limitations of the Study
The major obligation of a researcher is to addressing the issue for effectively completion
of the research projects. The limitation of data collection can be resolved through using part
research projects that are related with similar area of study and appropriate suggestions can be
taken from the senior investigator who is having appropriate idea about the specified area of
study. However appropriate guidance from the side of senior researcher an appropriate idea for
implementing right research methodology will also enhance (Stokes, 2017). so this create value
for the researcher to take appropriate decision in regards to the selection of the methodology. a
