INTRODUCTION
For an individual, social media is useful in keeping touch with lot of friends and for this,
some people tends to use several social media applications for developing their network career
opportunities, find people across the globe with suitable interest and also tends to share their
feelings and thoughts. Social media is computer based technology that leads to develop virtual
networks and suitable communities (Eshkulovich and Tashbaevich, 2020). For this, social media
in higher education tends to become important for most of institutions because 98% of schools
tends to use social media across campus. For the effective higher education, social media
platforms and teams are useful to manage prominent task that leads to support wide area and
international community across several channels. Hence, social media continues to transform
pedagogy that can be used to support effective learning and teaching activities which was
traditionally confined to classrooms.
Research aims and objectives
The main aim of this research is “to identify the use of social media platforms by the
higher education students”.
Research Aim
To study the relationship between the social media platforms and higher education
students of UK.
Research Objectives
To study about the various social media platforms in the life of higher education students.
To identify benefits and limitations of social media platforms in the life of higher
education students.
To recommend methods to overcome from the limitations of social media platforms.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Study about the various social media platforms in the life of higher education students
According to Chugh,(2018) social media plays an important role in the life of an
individual. It helps the individual to communicate easily without having any physical
appearance. In today's world students are more focused on social media platform this is the main
reason of using social media for the education purpose. Students can gain knowledge easily

through the help of social media platform and it also helps in making education more interesting
for students. Teachers can also upload their content on various sites in case if any student miss
their class they can revise it with the uploaded content. Social media also helps the students to
gain knowledge by doing the research on the topic provided by their teachers which will help in
developing their skill (Alenzuela and et. al., 2019). Teachers should keep professional interaction
with their students on social media platform so that it cannot provide any negative impact on the
education which they are providing.
Universities can a also share any information with the students regarding the rules and
regulation which students have to follow in the campus on social media with interacting with
them physically social media enhanced the communication skills between the student and the
teacher they are contact any time with their teacher and resolve their queries. Which will
motivate them to learn more. Teacher can also upload the content one day before the class so that
students are go throw it and ask their teacher if they face any issue which will make easy for the
teachers to make their students understand the topic which they will going to teach them.
Students can learn easily by sitting at their own place with help of social media platform they
don't have to go for any classes (Guillén-Gámez and et. al., 2020). With the help of social media
students becomes a contributor of their view during the discussion it enhance the learning
capacity of the student which helps in the overall development of the individual.
Identify benefits and limitations of social media platforms in the life of higher education students
According to Dumford,(2018)social media platform is the best way to delivery
information to the students but its also have some disadvantages which can effect the educational
system.
Advantages of social media platform are:
Social media is very effective for the involvement of student in the classroom activities
they indulge themselves more in the activities.
With the help of social media students can develop their confidence and can put their
point of view in the discussions.
Social media platform makes learning more interesting for the students which maintain
their attention during the class (Pearlson, Saunders and Galletta, 2019).
Students and give the feedback for the content which is provided which will develop a
two way communication between them.
