INTRODUCTION
Resource management refers a procedure of pre-planning, allocation of resources and
scheduling in order to increase efficiency of resources and all processes (Armstrong and Taylor,
2020). Resources are key for the success of an organization as it is required by company for
executing or completing a task. This study is based on Greenwich holiday and tourism company
which is a global provider of tour and holiday packages. This study is going to show importance
of resource planning and all elements which are required to complete and follow for making a
resource planning successful. It will also show theoretical application of models of operation
management and resource management. Further, it will show evaluation of each resource which
can help an organization in accomplishing its goals and objectives.
MAIN BODY
Current situation of the business
Before making a resource plan, it is important to identify current situation of the company.
Greenwich holiday and tourism is a global provider of tours and holiday packages at affordable
prices. The main focus of this company is customers’ satisfaction and retention (Greenwich
Travel, 2019). It is stated that this company wants to know if it is well managed from employees
and resource perspective. But for making sure that it is well managed and will be the same, it
requires to make a resource plan. For this it is also important to analyse effectiveness of its
human resource and operational management functions. This resource planning will allow it in
knowing whether it is well managed or not. If not than it can make changes in its strategies in
order to make itself successful and stable in the industry. This company provide wide range of
services and packages to customers which include: air tickets booking, visa arrangements, hotel
booking, holiday packages, cab services and travel insurance.
Human resources and operation function
Human resource is one of the important departments which is mainly responsible for
recruitment, selection, hiring, motivation and other functions related to employees. One of the
main aim of human resource department is to help their company in accomplishing their goals
and objectives In the context of Greenwich travel and holidays, it can be said that it is well

managed in the context of resources and employees. But it is important for this seasonal
company to manage its human resources as well as other resources which can help it out to meet
its goals. With the help of an effective resource plan, it can simplify process and also improve
work processes (Kurbel, 2016).
Resource planning is one of the important and effective planning in which tasks or
resources are being allocated to both human and non-human resources. The main aim of resource
planning is to increase efficiency of resources and having a clear understanding of availability of
resources. On the other hand, operation management or administration of business practices also
makes an organization to create high level of efficiency within an organization.
Some important functions of human resource which needs to be followed by Greenwich
tourism and holiday include:
HR planning: For an effective resource planning, it is important to identify future needs as
why company needs to perform all functions. With the help of HR function of HR planning,
Greenwich tourism and holiday can perform their further functions as per the identified needs of
the future.
Recruitment: Recruitment and selection is the next important function of HR in which,
company recruit skilled workers as per the future needs and completing performance for
accomplishing goals. Skilled workforce and right sourcing strategies are key of the success. So,
by completing this function by HR, company can manage its resources (Longoni, Luzzini and
Guerci, 2018).
Performance management: After recruiting workers, it is also important for the company
to make sure whether employees are engaged with the company or not. For this purpose, HR
manages their performance by setting clear goals. With the help of annual performance review or
360 degree feedback, HR analyse performance of employees and making them aware about their
own performance and position in an organization.
Motivation: For performing any type of work and task, everyone require some motivation
Hence, HR tries to motivate their employees by knowing their needs. For example: If some
workers seek for financial rewards then HR provide them rewards as a motivation for making
them able to work more effectively. Non-financial rewards like appreciation, celebration of
success are some example of motivation.
