1RESPONSE TO TERRORISM AND INTELLIGENT ANALYSIS
Response to Discussion 1
In my response to the post of Edward Worobe, I would like to say that terrorism starts
from the mentality to establish own views, religion, rights and subdue others. The post is about
the Chechen conflicts in the year 1858, in order to establish their own Islamic state. The decade
was full of the violence that ended with chechens being defeated by Russia. During the time
between their defeat and independence from Russia, the chechens have followed many tactics
like the suicide bombings against Russia. The Russian government in response to it, conducted
incursion into the land of Chechnya as a crusade against the Islamist terrorist forces. I personally
support the view that suicide bombing is not the end solution. Keeping physical distance is most
important than killing thousands of involved people.
Response to Discussion 2
As Joshua Flagg has demonstrated in the post, the fight of Turkey for the equality right
of the Kurdish minority is highly significant. The ‘Kurdistan Workers Party’ even after
dissipating in the 1990s, there are still other terrorist groups existing. There is no shortage of
suicide bombings attempts around Turkey. I have found that the main reason behind the outrage
of the Kurdish people is the subjugation they faced and crave to overcome. I believe that the
best way to counter terrorism would be by adhering to the policing of terrorism. It needs
intelligence led policing more rather than brutal police force attacks and strengthening the targets
of the terrorists. Another way to stop these kinds of rebellious terrorism is by evading the
discriminations and become all inclusive.

2RESPONSE TO TERRORISM AND INTELLIGENT ANALYSIS
Response to Discussion 3
Justin Sheffield has well demonstrated the characteristics of counterterrorism. His views
are rational as he supports the inclusion of military force and strategies to restrict terrorism.
Counter terrorism can be entertained by killing the probable and potential terrorist. There must
be airstrikes too in the places where the terrorists must be storing their weapons or hiding their
weapons. As he drags the instance of the battle of Fallujah, I completely agree that the counter
terrorist attempts worked ideally. Ad far as counterinsurgency is concerned, I believe that it is
necessary up to some extents because killing anything that moves can never be a strategy to
eliminate violence and restore peace in the nation. It might prove more effective than the
counterterrorism strategies.
Response to Discussion 4
Willie Washington in this respect, talks about the counterinsurgency as the economic,
political, military, paramilitary civic and psychological actions taken by the government against
terrorism. It is the indirect way of combating terrorism. It can be referred as costlier method than
the counter terrorism. It is more time consuming, demands more materials and equipment. It
can be said that counter terrorism and counter insurgency are the two completely different
methods, but the aim of both the methods are eradicating terrorism from the roots. Therefore, I
believe that the situation must be considered first and then the method must be chosen
accordingly.
