1.0 Introduction
An interview was conducted with one of the most famous business leaders today Brian
Hartzer who is the managing director as well as CEO of company Westpac, a banking as well
as financial service provider in Australia. He has been holding the position of Chief
Executive at Westpac Retail as well as Business Banking in the year of 2012 (Pearce,
Wassenaar, & Manz, 2014). The interview was conducted by taking into account the views of
him as a responsible leader. This particular discussion will take into account various literature
reviews on contemporary theories associated with responsible leadership and it throws light
up on the results of those interviews.
2.0 Interview overview
An interview was conducted with Brian Hartzer for 30 minutes and various questions were
asked to him regarding his views on responsible leadership. Responsible leadership is all
about formation of business decisions that would involve various interests of most of the
stakeholders, suppliers, various employees as well as clients, the future generations as well as
about environmental aspects. Brian said a leader faces a number of challenges and various

so that they work hard in reaching the goals as well as objectives.
He informed about the fact that he always exercise the habit of giving necessary feedback to
his team members regarding their performance and receive feedback on his leadership skills.
The toughest job on his part is to direct all members in the organization so that they work
hard and cherish equal goal of achieving the success in an organization (Dugan et al., 2014).

always possess in order to enhance cross- culture communication. A leader is always fosters
the ideologies associated with an input in the environment and during that point of view

3.1 Five Dimensions that are associated with responsible leadership
Since the world is undergoing through rapid changes, a new form of style of leadership
usually emphasizes on impacts up on the society and it requires commitment for the
achievement of betterment in the organization (Hibbert & Cunliffe, 2015). Leaders need to be
aware of the term “Corporate Social Responsibility” in management of business organization.
There are five aspects on which leaders form the responsibility towards organization by
considering all the aspects of team as well as the organization at large:
Developing Awareness
Setting vision for achievement of goals
Fostering imagination to render good quality services
Responsibilities undertaken by the leader
Necessary actions that are being performed
3.2 Function between Individual, Collective as well as Organization
This particular style of leadership basically acts as a function between individual leaders that
is “Me”, organizations that are responsible that is “We” as well as various responsibilities of
a business that take into account interests of regulators, consumers, competitors that is “Us”.
This also act towards responsibilities in order to legitimate various theories associated with
leadership in the field of business (Lawton & Páez, 2015). Progress towards various aspects

It can be recommended that leaders face a number of challenges in the perspective of
responsibilities of various organizations. Therefore it can be recommended to the leaders that
they must emphasize on the fundamental ideas as well as knowledge of people before
allocating particular tasks to those respective individuals. It is necessary that leaders must
work hard in taking the responsibility of all the team members and therefore it is the prime
responsibility of members to cooperate with each other according to the standards of
guidance. Necessary precautionary measures have to be taken by responsible leaders so that
they can take their own decisive actions and this would help in progress of the organization as
well as the society at large.
