Office Waste Management Tips
As office adopt modern digital communication paper continued to be and important requirement
at many offices. Sadly paper continued being wasted despite of there being major environmental
pressure linked to the production of white office paper.
 Utilize Both Sides of Paper: its common to find paper being printed on one side before
being considered used. For internal use we urge that paper be used again and printed on
the other side or used as rough paper before being placed for recycling. This will help
reduce paper usage by half.
 Dispose waste responsibly.
Don’t just throw paper in the bin but separate the paper and waste depending on the
quality or type. This helps the sorting thus helping separate white paper from other forms
of paper which may not be used recycling white paper.
 Reuse packaging – Rather than rip you packaging, it is more advisable to spend some
time to carefully unwrap the packaging. This paper can be used layer to repack other
items.

Office Recycling – Why we must recycle
It is critical to understand the benefits linked to recycling and practice the same at the office so as
to improve each person’s understanding. Understanding the benefits of recycling will help
reduce the pressure on the environment and help educate people in the following ways.
 Recycling Nominee – place one individual in-charge of recycling and offer an award for
this achievement. This will help encourage the individuals to work harder to recycle and
the individual will further encourage others to also recycle.
 Create and office cycling committee – this helps ensure they recycling practices are being
done in the correct manner. Recycling should not be limited to one individual but should
be done by the whole organisation. The committee should take charge of recycling and
overlook its implementation.
 Waste Audit – perform a waste audit which evaluate and audits each employee’s waste
management and report on ways which this can be improved. Use of paper, reutilization
of plastic and other strategies should be highlighted.
 Communicate clearly regarding waste management – address the concern from the source
by mentioning educating the entire office to avoid waste resources. This will
automatically reduce the amount of wastage.
Waste management begins with each individual thus every employee must participate towards
the process and helping improve the management of waste. Every person should be able to
understand the waste management and recycling comes with overhead costs thus utilize resource
more responsibly. This reduces the pressure on the environment and on authorities responsible
for managing waste which is a critical requirement towards responsible waste management.
Holding competitions among the employees also plays a huge role towards each individual’s
performance and contributions towards the process making it critical to organize effective

 Change your light bulbs
Consider changing your old light bulbs with energy saving and LED light bulbs which help
reduce energy consumption and the use of foil fuel burned to produce the electricity.
 Wash clothing in cold water and hang to Dry
Washing machines are growing more sophisticated but at the same time they are consuming
more energy. Consider soaking cloths in cold water than wash then rather than washing them in
hot water. Also avoid using driers and hang the cloths to dry instead as this helps reduce energy
consumed while washing cloths.
 Insulate You Home/ Office
Ensure the home and office spaces are well insulted before winter comes as this helps reduce the
energy required to warm the spaces.

Every action comes with a reaction thus resource wastage results in added need to recycle. At the
office we focus our efforts towards reducing Paper wastage but few people focus their attention
towards considering the amount so water and electricity which is being consumed which also
accounts to wastage.
It is important to manage waste responsibly so as to ensure proper resource management and
utilization. Every organisations employee should be able to review their resource use to
understand its effects on the environment and how this can be improved without needing to be
constantly monitored.
The organisation will also help reduce resource waste management mechanisms in place. Timed
and limited flaw taps, censored taps and energy efficiency lighting are all strategies which shall
