I’m contacting you regarding the Senior Technical Officer position at The University of
Queensland, advertised in the SEEK online job site. I am very interested in further particulars
and in filling out an application form.
My relevant qualifications include my Master in Engineering in Mechanical. Also, of note is my
most recent position as Plant Engineer for Woolworths Limited. It is in this role; I was
responsible for:
i. Planning for and making estimates on production costs of Woolworth Limited
products.
ii. Building cost-effective methods of production by implementing and integrating better
technologies in production.
iii. Establishing sequence and realignment of machinery necessary in the production of
Woolworth products.
iv. Carrying out plant optimization procedures to improve the overall efficiency level.
v. Offering advisory services to the management of the product specifications and plant
capabilities and how to make improvements.

vi. Reporting to the top management of the machinery procurement and design and keep
updates on the trends of production capacities and capabilities.
During my tenure I managed to accomplish the following:
i. I make managed to make a saving of more than 60k per annum after developing a
program for predicting failures in motors by use of graphical implementation and key
parameter identification.
ii. Through my creativity, the company reduced inventory repair cost of $650k by $86k,
which exceeded annual target in a reduction of $39k.
iii. Implemented work order system for tracking repairs and identification of trends.
Utilized exceptional communication skills with mastery in persuasion in
communicating its benefits to team members and overcome resistance.
iv. Designed and implemented test press improvements which successfully eliminated an
18-year-old problem.
v. Successfully managed the 2 million dollar Cupola replacement project for the fall
2011 plant shutdown.
On top of the above, I have served as the lead engineer in establishing standards that have
reduced costs, enhanced efficiency, improved production methods and simplified equipment and
part needs.
