INTRODUCTION AND PROBLEMTesco is one of the largest British multinational general merchandise and groceries retailerheadquartered in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. The organization is having numerousstores operating in the capital of United Kingdom, London. It is referred to as one of the largestcompanies operating in the retail sector of United Kingdom and one of the most effectedcompanies from the impact of Brexit. The reason behind choosing the company and the industryis because firstly the retail industry is one of the industry which is having its reach across thecountry and its one of the largest operating industries in the country (Impacts of Brexit on theRetail Industry, 2017). It can be seen as the Brexit has made Tesco and its over organizationalstructure face issues of escalating costs. These rising costs include a rise in employee costs, sterling depreciation, business rate increase, rising commodity and fuel prices and escalation ofdeficits and pension costs. The Brexit has made Tesco face a lot of consequences. These consequences include that its retailbusiness has to suffer from numerous escalating costs in which the organization has to facelosses and issues related to profitability (Halpern, 2016). Due to lesser freedom provided ofmovement from one place to another, the employees of the company have started asking forlarge salaries. Most of the employees which were working for the organization because of thefreedom of movement, travel and monetary allowances provided them by the European Unionhave left the organization and new employees are asking higher salaries in order to work with theorganization.SOLUTION In order to solve the issue of employee costs it is important for Tesco to undertake certainmeasures which can help the organization in recruiting required employees and retain the currentones. The solution which can be used here is to develop strategies for employee retention andprovide them with new growth options. Employees when will be provided with new growthoptions they will feel more secure and safe while working for the organization and ensure theirpersonal growth and development as well (Rosati, 2016). It can also help the employees to reachnew level of growth. The organization can bring change in its structure where its employees noware more heard and provided with necessary importance. This can help the organization reachnew development options and will help it to recruit and retain its employees.1
