Coping from any supplementary sources rather than original manuscripts causes
discrepancies (Van Note Chism & Weerakoon, 2012). The articles hence provide a detailed
explanation regarding the inappropriate knowledge and lack of understanding towards the
nuances of referencing. In this regard, it can also be mentioned that the lack of knowledge
regarding the proper method of referencing is also a result of inattentiveness towards the
details and the inefficiency of the teaching procedure. The first rationale points out towards
the failure of the students in acquiring sufficient skills and knowledge regarding different
methods of referencing and citations. In addition to this, it can be said that the article also
points out towards the insufficient style of referencing that are often adopted by the students.
Moreover, the reading points out that the lack of willingness towards the careless behaviour
of the students towards following the rules and intricacies of the APA citation rules (Van
Note Chism & Weerakoon, 2012). Hence, it can be understood that the errors that occur in
the process of APA citations are due to the lack of understanding and eye for detail amongst
the students. The study hence focus on the primary problems of the APA citation process.
The study then shifts its focus to find the causes behind the lack of skills and understanding
regarding the misunderstanding of the citation rules.

Due to the intellectual misunderstanding, inefficiency in understanding the complex
citation rules, poor psychological imaging are some of the problems that are causing errors in
the citation process. The section hence focuses on the results that have been obtained from
the studies. It has been noticed that in most of the cases the students lack the understanding of
citation rules as a result of the problems that have been mentioned (Van Note Chism &

the skills of APA citation process has been pointed out by the article. It can also be
understood that the errors occurring in the APA citation process is not only the results of lack
of understanding or skills of the students but also the mistakes that occur while writing.

Mistakes in the writing process also occur due the erroneous methods of writing. It
has also been pointed out that the repossession verbal, grammatical rectifications and
capitalization of the headings play important roles in the process of citations. It has been
noticed that due to the wrong techniques that are taken up by the students, the chances of
mistakes in APA citations increase to a great extent (Van Note Chism & Weerakoon, 2012).
As a matter of fact, it can be stated that the previous articles are failed to mention mistakes
and limitations of the APA guidelines. As a result of that student did not get any guidelines
regarding the importance and process of following APA writing style. It is considered to be
an important aspect that can reduce the error in writing in APA style. Many a times it has
been noticed that the erroneous techniques that have often been adopted by the students
increase the chances of wrong and inappropriate referencing. In addition to this, it has been
noticed that if the sources that have been used while composing the paper have not been
referenced properly, the chances of erroneous in-text citation increases to a great extent. In
this regard, it can be understood that the primary focus of the article is to find the reasons
behind erroneous citations and effective training processes to overcome this mistakes.
