INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is one of the important factor for each and every business
organization as it contribute in hiring as well as improving performance of workers at workplace.
In this, manager play vital role in developing and preparing strategies to executing business
activities in effective manner (Baum, 2015). Along with this, human resource management
includes process of planning, recruiting, selecting, training and many more to enhance
productivity level of the company. Current report is based on The Lensbury, is four star hotel and
Conference Centre who operate their services in UK. It is hospitality sector as they serve their
quality services to customers. For this HRM is more important which helps workers to perform
their activities in effective manner. Role and purpose of HRM is mentioned in this project. Along
with this, employees relation also discussed in this assignment as it directly contribute in
establishing positive image at market place.

1.1 Role and purpose of human resource management
Human resource management consider as an important for business organization as it
helps in managing as well as controlling all the business activities in systematic way. As it
consider various activities such as recruitment, selection, training- development, performance
appraisal and many more. With the help of this company easily attain set goals and objectives. In
context of The Lensbury, is service industry which provide quality services to its customers as
per their needs and wants. It is four star hotel which includes sports facilities like gym, 19 tennis
courts, a water sports centre. As hotel looking for a experiences Hotel receptionist to provide
better customers services to their number of guest. Along with this, the main purpose of HRM is
to increase the profitability level of the company by managing entire activities of the hotel. With
the help of this they easily enhance their productivity level at market place. In addition of this,
there are some main roles of HRM in The Lensbury are as follows:
 Recruitment and selection: It is one of the important role of HRM through which
manager easily hire right person for accurate place at correct time. As the main objective
of HR manager to invite number of candidate to fill vacant place within the company
(Bentley and et. al., 2012). For this company provide information through newspaper
advertisement and many more to hire capable candidate. On the other side, process of

selection is also include techniques like aptitude test, interview and many more. With the
help of this, manager select capable person towards the vacant place.
 Performance management: In this, it is important duty of HR manager to prepare right
system to execute entire activities of the company (Bratton and Gold, 2017). With the
help of this workers get motivated towards the work which may leads in attaining set
goals and objectives in appropriate time frame.
 Training and development: It is one of the important role of HR manager to provide
better training and development programs to their workers in order to enhance their skills
and knowledge (TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT, 2018). With the help of this employees
easily perform their activities to attaining set goals and objectives. Thus, manager have to
evaluate the needs at the time of performing task in order to enhance overall performance
of the company.
 Human resource planning: Under this, HR manager responsible for preparing strategies,
planning, procedures to their workers so that they effectively perform activities which
may leads in attaining positive results. One of the main advantage of this is to retain
workers for longer period of time within the organization.
 Implementing policies: Under this, manager of company is responsible for execute and
develop policies and plan within the organization as workers easily perform their task
accordingly. Along with this, manager also includes all the workers at the time of
implementing policies at workplace.

Human resource plan is one of the important and effective process which define existing

hotel. The Lensbury is a four star hotel in which HR department make an effective plan to

attain their satisfaction level (Chan and Kuok, 2011). This will contribute in attaining
competitive advantage at market place. In context of this, there are some main stages which
includes at the time of making an appropriate plan:

effectively execute all the activities which may leads in improving the entire business activities.
Along with this, firm conduct PESTLE and SWOT analysis to effectively measure all the factors
which impact on business organization (Crouch, 2011). With the help of this, they easily enhance
their performance level.
Demand Forecasting: This step define estimated supply and demand of human resource
within The Lensbury. With the help of this company easily evaluate the future needs. In this
context the main objective of company to effectively meet with their future need in order to
attain positive results.
Supply Forecasting: It is important step which refer to supply human resource at market
as it helps in evaluating resources which exist within the company. Along with this, internal

a healthy relation between workers and manager as well. Thus, it is important for company to
provide better guidance and support to their staff members with the purpose of attaining set
target in appropriate time frame (Riley, 2014). In addition of this, manager of The Lensbury also
includes collective bargaining, negotiation, consultation, employees participation, involvement

and management of conflicts. All these are contribute in enhancing the workers performance at
workplace and at the same time also accomplishing positive results. As concept of HRM play
vital role developing and preparing all the strategies through which workers can easily perform
their task in most effective manner.
In addition of this, manager also involve workers within decision making process which
may contribute in encouraging them as they increase the chances of attaining favourable results.
Increasing workers participation also contribute in reducing the chances of arising issues and
conflicts among workers (Birasnav, 2014). This will aid in developing positive and ethical work
environment in which workers enhance their skills and knowledge in most effective manner.

Employment law consider as an important aspects which helps in dealing with all the
duties of workers at workplace. It directly contribute in developing healthy and positive
relationship with employees and manager. For this, legal authority of UK also develop effective
systems to protect employees rights. This will contribute in developing ethical work environment
through which workers easily perform duties. As The Lensbury also consider some legislation
within their workplace to maintain their performance level. All these are as follows:
Anti-discrimination Act, 1977: Under this, it is important for The Lensbury to treat all
the workers equally. Along with this, also ensure that employees does not suffer from any kind
