Introduction
Implementation of the sustainable development goals is an essential action directed by the
United Nation Development Program, these goals are framework or guidelines setting the
opportunity to meet the motive of sustainable production. This report aims to recognise the
importance of role-play by an organisation's corporate social responsibility policies in
attaining the goals of sustainable development. Samsung Electronics is a privately owned
organisation dealing in the sector of electronics and technology in the conglomerate industry
since 1938, and effectively achieving global identity and profitable organisation, it is highly
concerned about the impacts of the production and manufacturing of the products over the
community and surrounding society negatively and positively. Operating with many
subsidiaries at international level Samsung Electronics is dealing directly to handle the issues
occur in the environment due to the technological action taken by them.
This report will identify the present sustainable goals implemented and focused by the
organisation and challenges faced by the management to attain the motive of the sustainable
development with the changes occurred in the environment and policies of the UNDP. This
report will discuss the factors important to drive the application of the sustainable goals in the
management of its operational activities (Diab, and Molinari, 2017).
Organisational Information
Samsung is a Korean multinational corporation headquartered in Seoul. The company
comprises of diversified areas include textiles, retail, securities, food processing, and
insurance (Arab, Mahmoud, Ahmed, and Salem, 2019). For last, Samsung has dedicated to
making a better world with diverse businesses expanding to plant construction, fashion,
finance, digital media, and hotels. Samsung leads to international market in high technology

manufacturing and digital media. Motto of Samsung Electronics is to inspire the world and
create the future. Samsung specialises in manufacturing a wide variety of industrial
appliances, semiconductors, integrated systems, and electronics. New subsidiaries include
Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung precision company, and shipbuilding (Eder,
Filimonova, Nemov, Komarova, and Kozhevin, 2019).
Samsung has become a leader in information technology services. Samsung has created two
research and development institutes broadening organisation's technology line into
semiconductors, genetic engineering tools, aerospace, nanotechnology, and
telecommunications. For 2017, the group has earned the revenue of 21,123.14 crores USD.
Samsung’s smartphones organisation posted the operating profit of $2.5 billion. The top
competitors of Samsung include LG, Apple, Electrolux, GoPro, Huawei, and HTC. The target
market for Samsung includes people aging 15-45 who follow the latest technological trends.
Core strengths include supply chain, brand image, advanced technology, and marketing.
Implementation of the sustainable goals
Implementation of sustainability approaches of Samsung includes social responsibility,
delivering innovative products, creating economic, environmental, and social values.
Implementation becomes mandatory as Samsung and UNDP unveils partnership goals. This
has led to boost awareness of sustainable development goals in New York. This partnership
will not only harness technological innovation while achieving sustainable development goals
and it will mobilise the next generation of global citizen while taking action and targeting to
achieve goals (Hicks et al., 2016)
. One has taken in the creation of an ecosystem while developing innovative items. The
company has tried to accomplish UN sustainable goals such as No Poverty, Zero Hunger,
Quality education, sanitation, clean energy and affordable, decent economic growth, gender
